  1. Sorry to side track the thread but Steve what is the research about bloat and no bowls? any links please, it's a new theory to me and I would appreciate being able to follow up on it!
  2. Fordogs, have just read your older post, have had the same thing happen to me with my last litter. 2 new owners took pups to same vet clinic and at second vacc (first was with me, owners first visit to clinic), they were booked in for spey and pennhip with potential JPS, despite both puppy families arriving with folders with 3 generations of great hip scores and a vet (me) breeders details! I clearly got a little heated to say the least and now these pups drive further and return to see me. The clinic made no apologies and felt that prevention was better that cure! I did try to explain that's why hip scores were done etc but got no-where! The parents of these pups are working and show dogs and clearly quite agile with great scores! Personally, as a vet, I'm not a fan of JPS nor pennhip, still waiting until the jury returns before I form my opinion!
  3. It's a really common labrador thing! My own fault but I have two girls with it today. I let them off yesterday at the farm and they loved having a swim and a great run around. I dried them off as soon as we got back to the house but too slow, one had already started! Now both younger girls (swam far more thn the others!) have sad tails! It is certainly uncomfortable and sore but a day or two and things right themselves!
  4. Dr Carl is sincerely one of the best in Melbourne. He is one of the 3 vets in Melbourne who teaches for the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society. You are in good hands.
  5. I'm still giggling at the term "super premium"! The food needs to have a presciption and a general use range and not too many do that! Focus on the needs of the majority of clients not on the uses of single people! Perhaps you should poll your clients instead of here.
  6. I have just inherited a rescue with dry eye, 3/4 pug, 1/4 maltese, very handsome and exceptionally loving fellow but only 5 months old, has a corenal ulcer and dry eye. Has been started on a whole bunch of meds for the ulcer and dry eye and hoping to be able to avoid the third eyelid flap but will be hoping to rehome him with optimmune for life to keep him comfortable, right now you wouldn't pick he has an issue but come night time before meds nd you can pick it.
  7. I'll give you an odd answer! My two older girls were glue girls and I forever seemed to be trying to drive them forawrds, it would work for a while or in training but not when it mattered. We have now changd theories, now I only reward for drive, ahead of behind me and we have lots more fun and forgive the mistakes and slowly but surely they are starting to drive forward on their own!
  8. As a labrador owner.... Was this just after he had been to the beach? Has he done this any other time? Most of my young dogs have accidents after the beach until they get used to it because they simply drink way too much water! Lots of toilet breaks and they are fine and over time they work that out and seem to drink less but I'm sure we bought half the bay's water back in one effort when the girls were little! That being said if it has happened at another time I would seek help!
  9. How did things go???? Was a culture collected at the time of surgery to remove? I really hope things have gone well for both of you.
  10. Darcy definately is there, one of my girls made it (of three!) but it was the disaster run where I pulled out after the see saw so not a run I want to remember! Maybe it is a dark dog thing!
  11. Thanks everyone! Sadly the only photos of any of my dogs was when the seesaw didn't come down, all of their great runs didn't make it to film. Appreciate the link and efforts thou. Thanks again.
  12. Thanks heaps, checking out their site now, I have been searching for ages!!!
  13. Thanks, have emailed them as no answer, was probably a bit late!
  14. The girls did very well at Berwick's agility trial last month and I was hoping that some-one might know who the professsional photographer was? Perhaps a website? Many thanks
  15. The tests are cancelled if the temperature reaches 24 degrees or over, the chances of Sept or Nov are slim to none! It's a winter trial. Have confirmed Rotti Club is group 6 only, sorry I had thought it was open to all breeds.
  16. Rotti Club have theirs, open to all breeds in 2 weeks, think entries may have closed but would be worthwhile contacting them, and there used to be another later in Sale
  17. If he's from a dog sport breeding family, perhaps you could chat to his breeder?!
  18. R/d works great, as does swimming with a floater jacket! Personally too much of the vegie, meat mix etc and it will be hard to lower the weight steadily. Needs to be worked wiht the family not away from them or otherwise the weight is likely to bounce back on when the assistance is taken away.
  19. My best trick is a hot water bottle for you in the car for the trip home, makes the fingers revive faster! Enjoy club!
  20. That guilt will do it! Rug up and get on out there!
  21. I'm an all weather trainer, completely but there are limits with agility and the rain, for the safety of my dogs. Run with that idea, makes it much easier to curl up with the tv remote!
  22. There does appear to be a huge difference in acceptable weight and "stockiness" between those bred for show vs those bred for retrieving/tracking/agility/obedience etc.
  23. Can I join in!?! Very new to tracking, and finally learnt something about handling, my girls competed on the weekend for 3 out of 3 passes!! Maddie got test 4, Tahlia test 3 and her TD and the baby Jindi got her test 4! The grin is still a mile wide but I'm not sure my fingers have warmed up yet and my house looks like a dry celaners with wet weather gear drying all over the place, apparently we found rain in Victoria! I'm adoroing tracking!
  24. ebay, i got a flat button one that the girls press with their nose or foot to go out. really cheap and quick delivery too
