My vote goes with PAW range, kind of taken over from the aloveen and all natural! Smells great and good for the skin.

I haven't heard of RRR, any chance you could give me a summary? I have 3 dogs, the older girl never really nicks off anywhere but would probably do as she chooses and the younger two have a brilliant obedience recall and great at most times but have been known to run away flat chat to go for a swim! Damn gundogs! Would love to be able to stop that run for swim drive and get them back!

There are lots of vets who have done the same training around who just aren't members of that special interest group, where are you looking for and any particular problem to treat?

by the way your dog would be hyperallergenic, hypoallergenic would be no / little reactions to allergens, hyper is an over the top response.

Recently family had two dogs (adults but one with very high excitability and the other quite clumsy) at wedding photo's and it was lovely. They got a friend of mine as a paid dog handler and she assisted in keeping the dogs about but happy and comfortable during pre drinks, assisted in getting them in group shots for poses and in general the dogs had a lovely time and they were a great distraction for us as guests! The handler then took them home and settled them at home with a bone whilst we went to reception. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again and it would have been sad without them.

It certainly doesn't sound like classical parvo but there are so many other potential causes and problems here and more investigation is definately needed. Might I reccomend an autopsy of one of the dead pups and go from there. And the test being positive tells you nothing within a week of vaccination. If it was me I would be looking elsewhere.

Me personally, I would start with the same food as where they are now! too many changes will cause diarrhoea and gastro upsets and I certainly wouldn't be putting in heaps of mince and eggs quickly, slowly perhaps but not quickly. Small meals frequently and talk to the pound staff about what they have had already.

Just a quick congrats to the vets on here who are standing up for our profession, I've got tired of the ear bashing about drug companies and all of these so called profits that we receive! After a lot of training and research, we do what we think is right and justified. As for the J.Dodd's seminar, I would have gone if I had known about it, mostly to meet this amazing person who gets quoted all over the place despite a fair portion of the information being opinion rather than fact.

Great result for the pup! As for over-stressing about parvo, no we don't, most of the time people get too relaxed about it! As for long term consequences of 3 vaccines in the pup, likely nothing! An orphan gets to live through a high parvo area, a job well done and the other inputters should probably just say well done and move on.

Can I just ask (my opinion aside), did he actually have a vaccine reaction or did he just react to the itch of the vaccine after it is put in. Reactions usually last a lot longer than 30 minutes. Many dogs have a scratch and jump about after any injection.... just asking.

Any idea on how common the PL is in the Lowchens and the is it usually mild, severe or both? Just thinking of the jumping.

I'm another vet who has done a lot of hand raising of pups, I'd be putting the pup with the most maternal of dogs asap as much as possible. He needs that bonding with another dog, otherwise they become too dependant on people, aka separation anxiety, and that's not pretty in a 50kg plus dog! Have you tried looking up responsible breeders in your area that may have baby pups? At least that way he could have puppy playtime at 6 weeks of age (once vacc's kicked in better).

Options to consider... Hills J/D or joint guard with omega 3 supplement Acupuncture Weight loss Muscle tone improvement all over his body! Cartrophen (same as pentosan mentioned above) then when things are worse pain control.

As soon as they are eating they work that out on their own. Would place a bowl in there when eating and then take it away so he doesn't fall in it. BY 6 weeks he should be in enough control to have access full time to water. Do you have another young pup to have him play with? Single hand raised pups can be a bit of fun down the track...

2 thoughts, cushings or potentially thyroid. Both are commonly involved with diabetics. Insulin shouldn't make any difference to the coat growing back but if the diabetes is still out of control then the hair growth could be slowed.

Personally I would have a hard time saying good-bye because of bad teeth. I would do the dental, probably after some further chest rad's and bloods but I would do the teeth, that being said, we are not there with your dogs and cannot see what condition your dog is in so it will always have to be your decision not anyone else's.

I adore my 3 labradors but you're brave geetting them so close in age! Enjoy the fun and games!

Not sure about the J.Dodd's info but the plasma can be given subcut for the antibodies, since it's not always available, the old protocol for vaccinating orphans was 4 weeks onwards, in high risk ones, I have known of vets to vaccinate from 2 weeks, but those cases were in the face of outbeaks with orphans.

Is anyone using Lowchens in Australia in agility, are any lines better than others for jumping? The Lowchen world health website is fantastic, what can be done in testing parents for a healhy pup? Presume PRA in parents? anything else?

Just to jump back to the agility question.... My two girls were the only registered purebred labradors at last years National Agility Competition. The girls have been competing for 5 and 3 years and are doing well. They are unlikely to ever attain Masters but they achieve clear rounds and enjoy themselves so that's the main thing! The new baby is rising 2 and a finer build, and in combination of the lighter build and higher drive, I anticipate greater things from her. Lab's love agility, it's just a matter of looking after joints, keeping weight down and keeping life in perspective, I adore the girls that come home with me, win, loose or draw, but we have had quite a lot of success and coming out top 20 with a clear round, in the nationals jumping round was pretty thrilling! As for other activities, the girls are trackers and heading off to start track and search next year, they do obedience (not that well!) and endurance. Most importnatly we love the water and can't wait for dock dogs to arrive in Victoria!
