just do it! I knew no one, knew nothing, my only advantage, if you could call it that, was I had trialled in obedience and agility, so had a very vague idea of what was going on. And it was very vague. I sat down with total strangers who were only too pleased to help me out. I told the steward I was new to all this, in fact told the stewards at my first few shows I was a newbie. Honestly the stewards and judges were all so nice and helpful. The people I talked to and sat next to were the same. I'm not part of any in crowd, but I have a good time, after 5 years, quite a few people recognise me and we nod and smile at each other, I have made friends and we all sit together, people will help me out if I need a hound holder or a handler. Even people I don't know. It's not that hard. I don't know why some people make out it's a big conspiracy against them, I've enjoyed it since day one. I'm quite happy to sit on my own with my dogs if no one else I know is there, I usually strike up a conversation with the nearby people, I am happy to read a book, whatever. It's my day out and I enjoy it. I don't rely on other people to make it fun for me, I do that myself. This is exactly how Iam also! I go to enjoy myself with my dogs Iam happy to talk to anyone and I do or Iam happy just to sit with my dogs and watch whats going on. Just like anything you do in life you have people who are not very friendly and others that are very friendly.

Sunni has had 4 pups today 3 boys and 1 girl all really strong pups but Iam having trouble as Sunni has inverted nipples and we have only 2 nipples that they seem to able to latch on to. Any suggestions would be great I have been trying to get the strongest one to go one of the others but I just can't seem to do it. Iam exhausted and so is Sunni poor love has been in labour all day.

She looks great!! Congratulations!!! Can't wait to see the pics of the bubs! Sunni is day 59 (im not counting or anything ;) )

I agree with this. I started young in 1989 and have continued but I did have a break of a number of years before starting again with a different breed. I also agree with this I found it extremely difficult to get a dog a main register to show but I persisted. I understand why people are reluctant but at some point you have to give someone a chance. Going back to the cost I wonder if it would make a difference if they structured their entry fee's something like 1st dog $10.00 any others $8.00. I know lots of clubs do baby puppy cheaper to enter. So true I really think it is unusual to see someone with alot of dogs entered at show anymore.

Iam so sorry Wazzat Xolo it can be really heartbreaking breeding. I hope Taha Daha recovers ok although they do seem to bounce back and to you too.
-
That is a worry for you but seems quite common. I have the opposite problem Wazzat, my girl has some strange sort of eating disorder when she is in whelp. I have signs stuck to walls everywhere with "don't leave any clothing on floor" etc LOL. I have had to put wooden poles into the sliding doors of wardbrobes so she can't get in and eat shoes. She even will drag books out of the bookcase and eat the paper I'm terrifed she will get a blockage! Weird isn't it I wonder if its the texture of these things or she just thinks she is hungry all the time. Six weeks time is going so fast!!
-
So sorry very disappointing They are going to be some beautiful little puppies! Congrats on the news, hope all goes well for you. ;) Thanks Cavalblaze Iam hoping so!! Sunni is on day 57 and could start I start anytime soon leading up to next week when she is due. Iam feeling nervous Iam just hoping Iam organised enough.

Leaving Dogs Inside House When You Go Out
Belljari replied to poochiemama's topic in General Dog Discussion
I leave mine inside with the radio on. 3 can use the doggy door even the puppy and 1 can't so she has to wait till I come home to go to the toilet. I section off our back room for them they have a lounge plus a doggy bed to lie on if they choose. They have toys and once a week or so have a pigs ear or some sort chew thing. -
I love my steam mop I use it on my tiles, floor boards and carpets. And no chemicals just water! :D

I have no idea what the breed average for a Lab is but a hip score of 5 is not a high score at all. I would say a 5 is a good hip score result. You must also then add what the other parent's hip score is to that also. Why don't you contact a breed club? Most clubs have rules that members have to abide by with hips and elbows scores and breeding.

I have had to euthanaze all but 2 of my Rott's it was the hardest decision I have ever had to make. But make it I had to as all of them had various illness although mainly it was some form of cancer. The way I looked at was they are my dogs my responsibility to make sure they still had quality life when that became an issue well then I had to make a decision to end the pain for them as hard as it is to do this. I stayed with all them told how much I loved them and what great dogs they were, my vet would just leave them with me until I got myself under control, Iam crying now thinking back. all them were then taken back to the clinic and the cremation people picked them up from there. I never had any problems.I have also had to euthanaze my cat but I think she was already dying and it was to get her out of the pain she was in. I buried her for some reason.

Ive been thinking about this and I agree with much of what's been said face judging, bitching, cost etc have turned people off. This is another reason why I think numbers dropped off at least from the Utility Ring. When I was showing Rottweilers in the 90's we would rarely ever get in to be judged before lunch as there were usually a huge entry of Dobes, boxers, you simply rarely see huge entries of any of the breeds that were once docked including Rotts. I used to be able to get 20+ challenges all without getting your BOB points you get these days. Now the Utility ring is usually one of the first rings to finish way before lunch and you rarely see more than 5 Rottweilers entered. Iam not speaking for every state just from my area. I think many people just said enough and walked away from alot breeds. Iam now showing in the Toy ring and I have found everyone to be friendly and encouraging esp within my breed. I really enjoy sitting with my dogs talking to different people. And watching the judging of course.

I so agree! It just breaks my heart! When you think some idiot in America can have 18 of these beautiful creatures and not look after them makes me so angry! Ain't that the truth! they should not be able to have exotic endangered species, its not right!

Wow 14!! Good luck I hope she is pregnant. That makes it hard poor girl. I was like you and her also being pregnant sick all the time. I thought Sunni was going to be like that as she had morning sickness it was very unlike her to not eat. But just after the ultrasound around the 4 week mark she regained her appetite and now she not only eats all her food she is hoovering the floor and going through my boy's school bag, she is constantly on the lookout for any food.

2 is good but I hope you have 1 or so hiding also! we had four but the less the better for us! 4 is good !! Wow 7+ you'll be right. My rotties largest litter was 8 and I survived worse part was when they got older with poo and wee and their mum hotfooting out of there.

Fingers crossed for you
