I have a policy with Pet Plan and only ever claimed once and that took a couple of months to be paid. I have just last week taken out a policy for my new puppy with PIA. My pet plan insurance needs renewing this month for my older dog and I was thinking of changing him to PIA. When I rang them and enquired they said cause he had had an abscess a couple of years ago it would be considered a pre existing illness so would never be able to claim if he ever got another one. Guess I will just have to have my two dogs with different companies.

Why Is She Being Nasty About My Tenterfield Terrier
grace replied to Harrybegood's topic in General Dog Discussion
We have had a few cleaners here and never had a problem with the dogs. We got this particular one and my chihuahua wanted to bite her (extremely unusual for him), we then had a phone call to say lock the dogs out. We changed cleaners and the new one says leave them in and the dogs all like her. Maybe it is just that one cleaner and you could always ask if they can send someone else. -
I am very sorry for your loss but don't beat yourself up these things happen and could ahve been many reasons why he died. Guinea pigs like the cold and do well in it, its the heat you have to worry about as once it gets to around 30 then you have to start taking precautions. Guinea pigs do not hibernate and I would suggest if they live outside to cover their cage at night when it is cool and have plenty of hay in their bed.

I have been using Angel eyes on my chihuahua who has very bad tear stains for the past four weeks. The results are amazing. His staining has almost gone but the thing I have noticed the most is he doesn't stink anymore. He would have a bath and within two days would stink to high heaven and his coat would be like straw to touch. He hasn't had a bath now for four weeks, he still smells clean, his coat is soft and has a lovly shine to it. I have also found he is much happier in himself as well.

You ran under the wheels of the car in front there was nothing we could do. There was not a mark on you. There will be a family who will be very upset as you were well looked after and could tell you were truly loved. To the man that stopped and took you body I say thankyou. To the man that ran you over I say it couldn't be avoided and to the man who came from across the road you need to learn some compassion as your comment was not helpful.

I am more than happy owning chihuahua's as they suit my life style but I do want to have a papillon.

I remember one of my aunts had a cat many years ago that was a Hemophiliac. It was only discovered when she was taken in for desexing. The vet refused to operate as she would have bled to death, they had her put to sleep.

I used to look after a little dog (up to six months at a time) who had a stomach ulcer. He was on a very strict diet of topside steak and kibble (cant remember which one but from the vets) he also had to have I think 1/8 (may have been smaller as the vets used to cut it for me) of a zantac tablet a day. He was diagnosed when he was a baby and the last time I looked after him he was around eight years and you wouldnt have known anything was wrong with him.

I have found my bitches more settled after they have had their first season I guess its a maturity thing.
-
I have had large and small dogs and have always let my bitches have a couple of seasons before I desex them. I think they need the hormones to mature properly and have never had any problem with them developing mammary tumours.

I have just started crate training my for year old chihuahua without any problems.

I use Heart Gold chewable they are made by Vetafarm. I get them through vet-n-pet direct and they work out very cheap as well.

Thanks Stormie I have often wondered if you could cut the bigger ones up. It will save a lot of money.
