  1. Not sure i am posting this in the right area so pls correct me if it should be elsewhere. The story is..we have a 3 y.o lab.boxer cross. lovely dog, is outside when we are out and inside when we are at home. I am at home 5 days a week with my 8 mo daughter. atm we are all sleeping in our bedroom..dog, baby, husband and me. We were quite conscious of keeping things the same for our dog when baby came along and she's been great. loves the baby, if not a little too protective towards her around other dogs. However the issue is that she is bothering us in the nightime..scratching , wanting a pat, or just some acknowledgement. that was OK when we didn't have a baby who wakes us up as well!! AS well, the carpet is just getting so trashed from her hair and mud its driving us a little crazy...So we want to move the dog to sleep in the downstairs tiled area, by putting a babygate across the stairs. The plan is to make a very comfortable night bed for her..and what else should we do to make this transtion..or is it too late??? we really don't want to act this out on the baby. thank you
  2. thanks very much everyone..it's off to obedience school for my puppy (and me!!). It's all new to me being my first dog!!
  3. My 11 month labrador/boxer mix has all of a sudden started running away from me when I take her off the leash. Whilst she has done this before she normally pays attention to me when I chastise her (i.e. lower my voice and use a harsh tone) The experience at the beach on the weekend was just traumatic...she ran after small dogs and children...I know it's because she loves to play but those at the end of it don't know that so understandably we had a few distressed people at the beach. No more beach until i get it sorted. But how?? She pays more attention to my husband but seems to ignore me..Any tips would be appreciated. this has just gotten worse lately so could it just be a growing stage?
