  1. well rain held off for us on Saturday for our Jumping workshop not to be cancelled... what a great day.. i have previously attended Cathy's Susan Salo jump grid workshops, but Sat just put everything back into perspective... i was able to work my young puppy, 8 months old throughout the day... It was great for everyone attending to see how a puppy can learn to read ahead and cope with the challenges set... only jump bumps were used for him as he is still only a baby even at 8 months.. it is quite a mentally challenging thing for our dogs to do, and am sure all dogs were mentally fatigued at the end of the day... and yes while i was there i purchased a copy of the Susan Salo DVD's, have watched parts of it, will watch the rest today as it is raining and i have decided to have the day off work... but from what i have seen thus far, and from the workshops i have attended about the jump grids i would have to rate it with   to purchase your copy check it out at Agility Click
  2. you could also try Agility Click have some great stuff
  3. oh yeah it will definetly happen... when is the question... am supposed to be going to a jump grid workshop tomorrow, but we have had rain all night and looks like for the rest of the weekend.. so i daresay it will be cancelled i have attended the workshops before with Cathy Slot about the Susan Salo jump grids and they were awesopme.. so i can just imagine what is in the dvd's...
  4. havn't yet purchased a copy, other things just keep cropping up, but after your review maybe next pay day...
  5. How about this Reddii - take them along and cover the crate with something, leaving a small opening. Leave a container of food and a note on top of the crate saying something like: "If I am quiet please feed me" A lot of people will be quite happy to give your girl some food if she is quiet! It works quite well... who wouldn't be quiet for a yummy treat :p what a great idea!!! I will have to do it with Midge! She seems to have found her voice  There will be plenty of people willing to help you get dogs to learn to b equiet in the crates.... mine do this as well, crate covers definetly work but treating for being quiet is the best thing... Maybe we can all tempt you to come this year as well!?!?!?! It will be a great Camp with the schedule thats out and the list of instructors attending... i hope we can tempt you to come along... Friday night is usually a great night as well.. all gather in the hall with the heaters on , having a very social time talking about the things we all love DOGS of course...
  6. behaviour and training co-ordinator... is it for the dogs or the staff
  7. if you can manage it swapping dogs session for session will be much easier on the dogs, as it gives them a chance to rest mentally between sessions... it is quite a busy weekend mentally and physically for the dogs... an enormous amount of info to be soaked up... a lot of fun as well...
  8. you will not be barred if you compete in an ADAA trial i have competed in both and know of a lot of people that compete in both ADAA and ANKC agility... i fully reccommend ADAA they have some great courses/judges and great people and dogs who compete
  9. some use it to get dogs to jump higher on the box... i have the spring loaded Flyball dvd's and they use it to teach the dogs to bank off the box real fast...very early in the dogs training befor ethey get the ball... teaches them to use all there power and because they have a tug toy most dogs will drive off the box extra fast to get that toy... also at the same time would be teaching dogs to jump high on the box...
  10. of course i will be there have not missed one for the last 5yrs... will be instructing this year... not sure how much i will be doing with the dogs, might just enjoy the weekend, watching others... good to know you will be there will be able to deliver your new jumps which are ready to go...
  11. an exercise you could try would be to place a low jump in front of the box and with you standing in front get him to jump on and bank off to a tug toy... lots of repetitions of this would build his back end up and teach him to power off the box for the toy...
  12. our club which is just an agility club, has a instructor program... where suitable candidates are asked to attend three training nights, first 2 explaining a little on people skills and how not all dogs and handlers are the same and learn the same, how the classes are structured , how the instructor program works and what is expected of them as instructors... the third night is with dogs explaining the fundamentals of how dogs learn, handling skills and how to teach equipment, we are a positive based club etc... all candidates are first helpers in the class, observing the instructor and assistant instructor, until they are comfortable to then become an assistant instructor, they will become a lead instructor when other lead instructors feel comfortable that they can handle leading a class, and they are then always placed with an experienced lead instructor as there assistant... this process may take from 4 weeks with experienced handlers to 3-4 months with the not so confident... no new instructor is pushed into moving ahead until they are comfortable... Hope this helps
  13. i hope you find some useful info to help your future Frisbee dog... hey would be great to see a new group of frisbee dogs, maybe even another club... in Aus it is definetly a great way to spend time with the dogs...
  14. hi Corvus check this link out to Canine Disc discussions... may give you some useful info to start with http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...ne+disc/frisbee
  15. i travel 1 1/2 hours each way to training sometimes once a week usually once a fortnight, travel anywhere from 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 to comps, used to travel 2 hours to training and 6 hours to comps ... all times are one way... travel 10 hours to the Grand prix(one way) each year
  16. yeah they are great pics... although i particularly like the ones of the choc bc... but then i am biased some great shots, it was great to see young Jade(BC /Kelpie X) make the finals she is going to be one awesome frisbee and agility dog one day...
  17. Well done to everyone, it was great to see so many well behaved, beautiful dogs. I can't wait for next year already - agility, frisbee and maybe even flyball by then, the puppies will be in heaven! BC4ME well done in the disc, I think my two were just about ready for a bit sleep on Sunday afternoon, but changed their minds! Rat bags. I can't wait to see GT in a few months time - that is one spectacular puppy!!! Well done Mrs D as well - great effort considering the problems! My two on the weekend........ I'm so proud after the hassles we have had over the last six months - Xena at one stage decided she didn't want to catch any more and CK with his broken elbow taking soooooooooo long to get right did a great job and has just come alive in the last two months. Only 12 months to go........ Thanks Reddii Congrats on your 3rd and 4th place with CK and Xena, and for gaining Xena's FDA title...they looked like two very tired puppies by the end of that Sudden death... Coco just couldn't seem to pick the disc up in the midday sun.. think i will have to practise in the middle off the day now and then... as well as learn to throw long ... Gt has come along very well just needs to get her timing right... maybe wait for the leap for just another few seconds... she should take some great frisbee pics... yes i can't wait for next year although by then i think i will be competing in Herding as well as Agility and Canine Disc...

  19. didn't get to see the doggy dancing today , but did see the demos yesterday... managed to get into the canine disc finals with my choc BC Coco who also gained her FDA title over the weekend and got a place in the Snooker(agility) final with my old boy Buddy... Buddy also managed to gain a clear round in the Snooker on sat morning with a second place which got us into the finals and it was also the final pass he needed for his AAGD(aust Agility Games Dog) Title- we have been wanting this for 2 years... he also got two 4th places in Jumpers and Gamblers... he now only need one more Agiltiy pass for his MAAD title which will also give him his AAC title(Aust Agility Champion) all in all it was an awesome weekend of doggy sports, and lots and lots of great stuff on sale for our pampered pooches... nothing else to say excpet it was a totally awesomw weekend i am completly stuffed wishing i didn't have to go to work tomorrow, luckily have next weekend off to recuperate...
  20. LOL I know exactly what you mean. But I keep on wanting another puppy too! I blame Ness with her new puppy coming soon she is making me jealous well i have 4 at the moment... 3 of which are competing both in Agility and Canine Disc/ 2 of these are also training on sheep.. and have had some flyball training although that has been put aside to concentrate on sheep.. the other has competed in Flyball... the 4th is 7mths old.. and has been started on sheep is in training for canine disc and agility... i am already planning the fifth puppy at the end of next year... and the 6th will come in about 3-4 years.. how do i fit it all in not sure i work full time... and also quite regularly have rescues or boarders at home as well , currently have 6 dogs here(2 boarders) took them all away on the weekend to a 2 day agility trial where i ran the 3 dogs... i love it and don't think i could ever go back to just 2 dogs...
  21. thats funny... one of my girls does the same thing.. if you touch her on the inside of her leg up it comes.. quite funny when she goes up to people for a pat turns her rear end around and then raises one leg.... i just call her a hussy... but maybe it is a border collie thing
  22. should make it all the more interesting as a spectator then
  23. maybe next time.. but you can be assured i will be there to watch and cheer you on
  24. \ i get the velcro from my canvas guy... it is what they use in caravans and compers etc... it has a sticky back so just sticks straight to the drum... and it makes it real easy then to sew onto the fabric... my first cloth was made out of a light material... great for beginner dogs as it was sort of see through as well so gave them more confidence... it is still on my tunnel sits out in the weather all the time... when it finally dies i will be replacing it with a cotton drill detahcable cloth.... glad i was of help
  25. Laffi has one of my tunnels maybe ask if you could have a look at it...
