i always liked Bordaline, had a fair idea at the time i wouldnt get it, it was my number 2 submission... so came up with Dunwurkn... pronounced Done Working... cause one day i hope to be done working:))) plus i though it suited the working breed... had no idea past these 2 names, so my 3rd and 4th choices, were WhyNot and JustNCase .. really glad i got my first choice, but would have been happy with any of them

you could always use a light in place of the clicker.... Deaf dogs can and do live happy lives and can be trained to do quite a lot...

Rare Or Disqualifed Colours In Breeds.
bordacollies4me replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
here is a Blue Merle Sable Border Collie - not recognised in the breed standard in Aust, but acceptable everywhere else in the world... ETA: she would be called a Clear Sable... Sables can be from Clear to a Dark Shaded Sable... Sire is my Choc Merle Tri, mother was a Black/White as a puppy 12 months old These next 2 are also sired by my Choc Merle Tri a Blue Merle BC -Litter mate to the Merle Sable -- accepted in the Standard a Blue Merle Tri that is not recognised in the standard... (mother is my Black/White Girl) but acceptable everywhere else in the world... -

Books Or Dvds On Agility

yep i think it will be useful, a lot you probably already know, but there are some things that may be new and some that will remind you of other things, i like how it is set out, so you can see mistakes the new handlers make when training.. helps you learn )) am also reading the book... The focused puppy.. so far so good, not a bad read and another good investment i think, i love dog training cause there is always something new to learn ... -

just finished watching my new Foundation Fundamentals 6 dvd set... was a movie marathon.. not all in the one day though.. they arrived on Tuesday watched 2 discs on Wed, 2 on Thursday and the last 2 today.. phew... ;) overall pretty good value for money, i have picked up a few new skills i can work on with my dogs... very well set out, with Mary demonstrating and explaining each exercise with her own dogs, so you get to see the finished product, as well as 7 other younger dogs mostly puppies with some green some not so green handlers... -

everyone has given you some great suggestions... definitely recommend Susan Garretts Crate Games as one of the first.. it is also a great way to toilet train your pup when you get her home... Then i would work through the Moe Strenfel Foundation DVD(great way to kick off your handling system), the puppy Jumping by Susan Salo, Success With One Jump by Susan Garrett... then start watching Greg Derretts Great Dog Shame about the handler, when pup is old enough 2x2 weave training by Susan Garrett... and for a good read definitely get Susan Garretts Shaping Success... I have just purchased the new 6 dvd set from clean run on Foundations... i have read quite a few of the articles posted in the clean run mag by Mary Ellen Barry so think that it would be a good investment as well, for the dog training side of things As for which puppy to pick, the one that tugs the heart strings is usually a good indicator but i look for a more confident outgoing puppy... one that loves to tug at 5 weeks... good luck with your new addition, and yes we definitely need some pics... -

hi Guys.. yes always sad to lose them... the rest are doing well, have all good weights today
-
gee silverblue, thats a serious Milk Bar... sadly last night we lost the smallest Merle Girl, she was very small and took a bit for me to get her going when born... i was half expecting it, she was touch and go all day yesterday... RIP Little Girl
-
well the final count is 9... congrats partipaws on your bubs.... yes i was surprised with so many girls, even the little one that didn't make it was a girl... you know i really think i prefer the night time litters.... less distractions... the other poor dogs were locked up nearly all day so they wouldn't bark... Coco is a very protective girl so any noise she thinks she has to investigate.. night time is much more peaceful... will hopefully get some individual shots tomorrow
-
ok hopefully final count is 9, not including the one that didn't make it... 4 choc merle girls 2 choc/white girls 3 choc/white boys... mum and bubs doing well, i'm still not convinced she is finished...
