  1. yeah i know what you mean about blowing the budget, i went for the first time last year and don't think i will miss it ever again, i'm budgeting for next year already , oh well will look forward to seeing ya there next year
  2. It sure will be a great weekend, 24 weave pole challenge and Steeplechase on the friday night just to get things warmed up then opening event on Sat is the medallion stakes which is an invitational event, where dogs earn points throughout the year at various comps in medallion stakes rounds, then the top 20 dogs(i think) in each height class are invited to compete in this event only held at the grand prix, as well as our first ever international judges. Rastus why don't you come and help out for the weekend, full time helpers get free camping, and meals and first hand views of each run.
  3. Hey just wondering who's going to the ADAA Agility Grand Prix, early bird entries close 13th July. If you've not heard of it yet check out the website www.adaa.com.au and look in the events schedule calender, should be great this year with two international judges, judging a ring each and our Aus judges in the 3rd ring. I can't wait
  4. Hey i think there is a nice photo of Lucy in the colection just over the jump i'm sure its her does she wear a purple harness
  5. I'm also in the need for a 2nd hand flyball box, i'm situated north of brisbane any help greatly appreciated
  6. ;) What sort of times do you usually do with that combo? i'm pretty sure they usually run in the high 22,low to mid 23, but i reckon there passes are getting alot better so is why thier times have gotten better, bit hard going from training and a stop watch to high tech timing gear. I'm sure with more training and comps you will see the team get alot faster yet, :D
  7. Woo Hoo well its over and what a fantastic weekend, some super fast teams, a big congratulations to Norwest Thunderdogs 1 for breaking the Australian record which now stands at 17.6_ seconds :D It was really exciting to see them break the record even though the heat before they were actually quicker but had a bad start which was very minor. i'm sure the 16 second barrier will be broken in the not to distant future It was great to see new faces from different states am now looking forward to the next comp
  8. Lets hope the rain stops, was all ready to pack the ute and camper today to get an early start tomorrow, but it hasn't stopped raining yet, crossing fingers for tomorrow
  9. I Can recommend Maria Thiry from Red Dog Agility havn't got her contact details but if you get in touch with the Brisbane Dog Agility Club(BAD) thru the ADAA Website they should be able to put you on the right track
  10. I am just starting to make equipment for others At the moment can offer, hurdles, Contact Trainer, Table, Broad Jump, Training Planks-2.4m & 1m, Perches, Ladders, Wobble Board, Training Seesaw Have attached a couple photos Hurdles are made from treated timber, 1.2m uprights will come with up to 5 jump heights set at heights for either ADAA or ANKC, Jump Bars are available at additional cost Contact Trainer is great for small back yards, designed to teach dogs end zones without having to have full size A-Frame and Dog Walk, folds Flat for easy Storage, and is easy to relocate to various locations All my equipment comes unpainted Can negotiate delivery fees to the Brisbane/ Sunshine Coast Areas
  11. i used the click and reward method with 3 poles for my old dog his weaves are good but he doesn't have full understanding of entries and his rhythm can sometimes be a bit off, for my 2 yr old who is now competing i used Susan Garetts 2x2 method, she has a lot better understanding of how to weave with great slalom style, head down and drives thru the poles , she has a great understanding of the entry and barely misses one. i have sort of retrained my old dog with this method and his weaves have picked up considerably I think it is all because she has had to think what to do in the training process to earn rewards so they leasrn it faster She outlines this method in her book Shaping Success which is a must read for any dog owner
  12. how about "Don't assume they will do it because they know it" "Dog needs to be confident working for you as a handler" "Easiest thing is to train a behaviour, Hardest is to maintain it for life"
  13. Luv a dog regardless form Hervey Bay we will be in black and pink shirts(I think, haven't got them yet) and I have a little border collie name Lucy. We are staying in tent and should be there some time Thursday. hey how did you guys go at the comp yesterday

I know how ya feel, the drive to the comp is never that bad its usually the drive home that i hate all i want to do is just have some R&R time but can't do that until i get home unpack the ute, the dogs etc... by then i usually just fall into bed; oh yeah and then sleep comes

  17. Looking forward to meeting all of you at the nationals, will be camping along with my team mates will be awesome to see a sub 18 run
  18. thats great she will definetly love frisbee then, check out the website to find out when training clinics are being held, looking forward to seeing you at one later in the year
  19. if your dog loves to fetch then it will love frisbee, there are two types of competition toss & fetch / freestyle, check out the website, toss and fetch you throw the disc if the dog catches it it you score points depending on how far out he catches if he catches with all 4 feet of the ground u score an extra 1/2 point, they hold training clicnics around brisbane at various off leash parks cost is minimal very relaxed atmosphere, i think this sport would be great for dogs who love to play fetch but don't always get along with other dogs as it is just you and your dog working at any given time.
  20. check out the following websites have info on clubs as well. www.adaa.com.au ---- Agility www.flyball.org.au ---- Flyball www.bark.asn.au ---- Frisbee
  21. you serious? I can fill this to the top, and she can move it!! you could always try burying it in the ground a little, or drilling a couple holes in top edge and pegging it she sure does have a lot of fun with it, but hey at least shes not digging her water bucket out, the clam pool is much more fun
  22. yep my thoughts exactly, or if washing is to be hung out and puppy cant be watched then crate or pen puppy till washing is dry and then let loose in backyard again, good luck with it
  23. well another water crazed BC, why doesn't that surprise me, both my bitches were water diggers as pups and still love the water today, how i combated the waterbowl digging, bought them a clam shell, from bigw about $15, half filled it with water and they learnt to dig the water in there instead of the water bowl, its much more fun with more water to play in they just forgot about the water bowls, they will still dig their water bowls out only if they get hot and the clam pool hasn't been filled. other than that i would use rocks in the bottom of the bowls.
  24. Thanks Guys will pass on the info, the dog is quite happy to get into the car, is rather excited about it actually, she prefers to stand up on the seat rather than lay down, they also have another BC which just sleeps on the back seat, when they first got her and went for a long trip she was crated, i was thinking that maybe being in the crate made her feel more secure so was relaxed, they have purchased window socks for the windows. I also have recently read about the anxiety from things wizzing past windows causing an overload on the senses and have suggested they try putting her on the floor behind the passenger seat. They can't put crates in car as it is a sedan and they have 2 BC'c and two crates won't fit and 1 doesn't leave any room for other dog to lay down. The vet ruled out motion sickness from the symptoms that they explained to the vet, same as the symptoms they have told me and i have posted here, i have seen the dog she does get rather excited about travel, and one would think if it was motion sickness then would you be sick nearly eberytime you got into the car. but maybe it could be they have tried motion sickness medication as well as ginger tablets to no avail she was still sick. Thanks for the replies, i'm sure it will all help
  25. Hi All wondering if anyone has some advice on the topic, my friends have a 9 month old BC puppy and she sometimes vomits when travelling in the car at first i told them to try Ginger tablets to help settle her stomach, and they have not helped, they have asked the vet told the symptoms what they have tried and he seems to think that it may be an anxiety/ stress from travelling. she loves to get in the car, and is not sick all the time, they are getting frustrated as they can't take her anywhere in case she becomes sick. When she was 4mths old they travelled from Bundaberg to Townsville and back with no problems, we are just looking to see if anyone has any advice as to what they can do to help the BC
