  1. We were out and about on the water yesterday so I thought I would get a few ideas for this challenge, but I had already done 'water'. I got a few fuzzy pics of an eagle sitting on a beacon but I had already done 'look up' so this was really all I was left with. Landscape ...
  2. Hey tlc, I couldn't help but notice the feature tile behind the veges in your photo. I have the exact same one in my kitchen. I like your glass shot too, that's an interesting stem on that candle holder. The reflection in lea's glass shot is clever too. I'm doing a glass shot today. This is a trinket box that my best friend made for me. So it could be two topics really, but I'll go with glass.
  3. This is the first thread I open now, sometimes the only thread I open for the day, I'm loving it that much. That fly is amazing, so clear, and yes strangely beautiful (for a fly ). And Darien your dogs eyes are to die for, georgous. I loved your photo a few pages back of the hand too, I have one of those myself, actually I have two. Heres my couple for the day. Water .. See it's true, water does flow down the drainpipe anti-clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. Home .. A bit ordinary, and probably predictable, but I think it's cute.
  4. Still giggling at the dog leaving his fleas behind, very clever. I love that mobile picture too, very bling. I had a cattle dingo (we think) cross once that just loved lettuce. I had never seen another one until now. Feeling a little bit more inspired today, so here's one, maybe more later. Mineral
  5. I took a couple more on the weekend while we were out for a drive. I wasn't going to use them because they aren't very good, but nothing I take lately is much good, so I changed my mind. Old ... Fernvale State School. The sign says 1874 on one side and 1974 on the other, wish it was clearer. It is referring to a memorial garden that was (presumably) planted in 1974. Tree ... I thought this was sort of surreal, lovely big trees in the background (a whole mountain of them to the right of the picture) and slaughtered ones in front.
  6. Just loving all the pictures. Some are so creative and others so beautifully shot, I'm a little bit embarassed putting mine up today, they're pretty ordinary. They're straight off the camera, haven't even bothered bordering them today. Pink ... My favourite tipple Collection ... Explanation ... I'm not really a nutcase who is living in her second childhood. For a lot of years both my ex husband and myself worked for different companies that gave away stuffed toys as prizes. We always got a sample for ourselves, and my kids, both boys, were way past that, so voila. I really should tidy this up a bit because there are a few really old dolls (mine ) tucked in there that should be displayed better. This isn't even all of it, here's some more.
  7. I was chopping up vegetables for tea and thought, uumhh vegetables, but let's face it this is really eyes.
  8. I've got a couple to start, not in order. Dance ... and ... Look Up!
  9. I've really enjoyed this thread, sad it's the last day, but looking forward to the treasure hunt. I actually took this one yesterday after I had put up my photos but I like this bug shot the best of all the ones I attempted so I thought I would put it up as well. Here's todays. A daisy after a rain shower. And the same daisy. When I looked at it in actual size I noticed one raindrop has caught a reflection of another flower. So this is the cropped version to show the raindrop.
  10. ... creepy crawly alert ... This little guy was lucky it was me who found him and not my OH. I do the glass and paper thing, he just uses his shoe. I thought the least he could for me, seeing as how I saved him, was to pose for a pic. And these two are the same glass of water. We had some work done to the water main outside our house and this is how our water is coming out of the tap. They assure me the white stuff is just tiny little bubbles from air getting into the main. It clears pretty quickly. This it is starting to clear from the bottom.
  11. That kingfisher picture is so good it should be in a bird book. That photo of the bush fire is incredible. Sometimes we get too caught up in the quality of the photos and overlook the content. The sheer size of that smoke column looming over the house is terrifying. I could see a book cover in that one. Must have books on the brain today. :D Here are my couple for today. White water at the bottom of the jungle garden. And the inevitable flower, seems like I find at least one every day.
  12. Wow bindi-boo that grasshopper picture is amazing, so sharp and clear. I like the reflection in the entertainment doors as well, I would never have guessed that's what it was. I thought the black and white version was a sort of negative effect. The red looks other worldly. The horse looks like it's saying "what the" at whatever it is on him. The bed looks comfortable but there's no room for you with all those cushions. And a dog that won't stand still. I can relate to that. Mine are hard to catch a good shot of too. If they aren't moving around, they're napping and that's pretty boring. My camera hardly ever comes off auto and the auto focus takes so long to set that half the time when I am trying for something alive (like my birds) I end up with nothing in the picture but the background. ;) These two obliged by sitting perfectly still. A couple of kookaburras on my neighbours fence. The fluffy one is a baby. And another from my jungle. A bromeliad flower.
  13. Thanks tlc, I liked the fact that the bridge was in the background too. I actually had another picture of the boat that was even a little sharper but liked this one better, so I'm pleased someone else liked it too. All the photos are great, the black and white flowers aren't boring they're lovely. All the dog pictures are great. I particularly liked the one that was about to chomp the ball, can't remember who put it up. The cactus was great too. It's funny what you find when you download the pictures, an ant no doubt you didn't know you had. The same thing happened to me a couple of days ago. The horse pictures are always beautiful, the one watching the dogs is special. And last but not least tlc pity you couldn't get the cat but there's just one word to describe your dogs, beautiful. I love their cute little faces.
  14. Ever watch Funniest Home Videos - "What's that dog looking at". I can almost see a whole other picture in that eye.
  15. Yum. Must try a food shot one day. Then again nothing I cook ever looks as good as that. One of these days I must get around to taking the camera off auto. I try reading the booklet that came with it, but my eyes cross and I just whack it back on auto. Ok, here's today's shot. It never ceases to amaze me, the things I find for inspiration in my unkempt and overgrown jungle garden.
  16. All the photos are great as usual. I'm still catching up with yesterday. We went to Brissie for the day and out for dinner on the Kookaburra Queen to catch the fireworks. I took a heap of pictures but none of them are much good. It was drizzly and overcast and they all came out looking as though there was a tissue over the lens. That's my story anyway and I'm sticking to it. The boat. A pathetic attempt at a fireworks picture. A big wheel. Back later with todays.
  17. Love all the photos, too lazy to go back and comment on every one individually today. The shot of the little girl "Poodie"? is a standout, what a lovely smile. Here's my couple of shots for the day. The water lily that was partially in another shot (with an unidentifiable bug) is in full bloom now. The bug is still buzzing around but I didn't catch it this time. The flower is almost spent but I took another one because I kind of liked the shadow effects. I don't usually name my plants but if this one had a name it would have to be 'Jaws'.
  18. Ok, today I promised myself I would take the time to comment on each photo put up since my last one, which incidentally had the answer in the black bit underneath, but for those who can't be bothered going back to look (don't blame you it's pages and pages ), it was in fact white sugar. Kirislin got it straight away. Here goes, hope I don't miss anybody. TerraNik .. Love the little skink face, too cute, and the yummy worm. Huga .. That second picture looks as though your chooks are plotting some mischief. Lea .. What a lovely spot. Popsicle .. Love the piggy with the muddy snout, and her little piglets. Persephone .. Think I’ll pass on the cuddle thanks, those claws are impressive. PPS .. That sky looks forbidding in the first shot. A storm brewing? Tlc .. That is one gorgeous cat. Cute, how he looks like he is quite comfortable (thank you very much) in the bird bath. And then you went from .. purr purr .. to ..vroom vroom. Aquaticmalamute .. love how the water drops catch colour Jayc .. pretty flowers and sunset MTD .. spooky mountain, is it Tibrogargen (sp??) that one has always given me the shivers. Bindi-boo .. clever how only the mirror has colour Iltby .. love that little bug. We have a similar bug around here it has two distinct antennae thingees sticking up from his bum. I call him the hot rod bug. You have a real knack for the bug shots. Kirislin .. That snail’s eyes are kinda scary. I guess that’s eyes on the end of the stalk things, never realised that before. Poocow .. Aahh, what a sweet face. Pointeeblab .. Aahh, and another sweet face, all three of them. Clicking Mad .. Sorry you are about to lose your tree but I can’t help but smile at Chester. I used to have dallies and they are the greatest dogs but they have to be right there. We used to call one of ours pothole because he was always in the road. Kirislin .. Great picture I can almost feel the sting of a windy day at the beach. Jayc .. Those African Violets are beautiful. I think the purple thing might be a perfume bottle or something like that. A bottle with a stopper anyway. Becks .. Interesting big rock. We have a big rock here in Australia too. Kirislin .. Beautiful mare, and yes her forelock is very pretty. And here's todays. It's feeding time in the guppy tank.
  19. Love all the photos. I started to make comments on each one but lost the plot somewhere along the way, so will just pick a couple out for now. The water one prompted me to have a go at a water drop myself, this is my effort. I'm another one who thought the pasture one was lavender, and that prompted me to have a fiddle with the colour on my bug shot. The original was too dark anyway. It's a moth on my computer. The next two are actually the same picture (strange cactus flower) but I noticed when I was putting it up that I had inadvertently got another bug shot, so I cropped it to show the ant. Oh, and yesterday's flower with the unidentifiable bug, was a water lily, beautiful thing. Cactus Flower. Ant
  20. Love the horse looking over the fence and becks reflective doggy. Lea your 'old man' is stunning, what a lovely shot of him. Huga's grevillea's are scary, ever heard of Jack and the Beanstalk. Umhh, that psychedelic wasp looks like he's been feeding in Ozzy Osbourne's garden. A couple from me today. I tried for a bug shot, not very good I'm afraid. I think it's a native bee but trust me it's hard to tell what it is from this photo. I tried sharpening it a bit, didn't help much. My little gouldian girl. This is just the way it came off the camera, except for some cropping. Edited to add .. Those three puppy shots are so cute. In the last one it looks like he didn't much like whatever it was he licked off his face. He looks like he's saying yuck, what WAS that.
  21. Loving all the photos. tlc that action shot is a crackup. Is it a bird, is it a plane, no it's superdog. Wish I could get action shots of my crew but they are always sleeping. This photo a day can be addictive, you wouldn't believe how much time I have wasted this morning looking for something interesting. In the end I just settled for a shot of my glasses and case. Obviously when they aren't on my head they spend their time gazing wistfully at the Eiffel Towel. I was trying to capture the really deep red of the glasses case but the camera washed it out and no matter what I tried with the basic editing tools that I have nothing came close so I just put it back the way it came, little bit of cleaning cloth poking out and all. ;) I didn't notice that til I posted it and can't be bothered going back to fix it, so what ya see is what ya gets.
  22. Love seeing all the photos. Mine feel a bit ho hum against some of these but here is today's effort for what it's worth. Bougainvillea flowers. Nothing done to it, or added, except the border to match the flowers. Actually it's only the tiny little white ones that are flowers the purple ones are something else, bracts I think.
  23. Ha Ha, I thought I was looking at birds at first. Talking about birds, love the Willy Wagtail. And the lab's soulful eyes. I like the way the camera picked up the deep black of the coat too. I'm making up for lost time today. I have five of them. All are just as they came except for being cropped, some quite a lot. First up a couple (or three ) of practice macro shots. Yellow flowers, don't know what they are called. Salvinia (ok, I know it's a weed) in my fish pond. Heavily cropped I was trying for a water lily, but I liked the way the water sort of rolls. And an artificial plant in a big terracotta pot. I liked the contrast of colours and the shadow. Now two of today's adventure. My OH nearly killed himself on the ride on mower. He lost steering and almost ended up in the river. Shot #1 is where it ended up. We tried to pull it back up by wrapping a rope around a tree with me taking the weight while he yanked on it. Nup, wasn't going to work like that. So the old block and tackle had to come to the rescue. Edited to add one more I almost forgot about. If the mower had ended up in the river it would have had lots of friends. This is one of the reasons why the Bremer River gets an 'F'. Ok off for a nanny nap now. That's enough excitement for one day.
  24. Another late entry into this thread. Have just discovered macro. This is a little 5cm paperweight, that now looks rather disturbing.
