  1. OK here goes, I received my 1.8 yesterday and so today was day 1... still a looong way to even began understanding how to use this sucker but here are a bunch of Falco and one of Grotty I just took then. I have a while to go before I get the 'crispness' you guys are achieving...
  2. woo hoo I am getting a 1.8 for my Canon any day now happy dance.... the Grotty Rotty in 1.8 worth of close up drooling Quasimdo action!

Krueger is stunning Kavik - thanks, I think he is pretty yummy myself. Jeff Jones - he is wonderful to train too, keen and focused. Angelsun - I love the photo of the smiles
  11. thank you all and hiya Tony. Yes I have been trying to ignore it as he is so lovely and sweet so figured no malice. And no he is never encouraged, I will go back to him and work with him after the snapping has passed and I have walked away from him. Good to know it is inherited, oh yes and he does the licking too, especially after a snap the snappy clacky sheps...ahahahaha. Anyway here is Mr Snappy Pants
  12. Hi there, I have a behavioural issue with my gorgeous German Shepherd, Falco. He is 14 months old and a bit of a snappy boy when excited or playing... I was walking away from him the other day and heard 'clack', looked around to see him snapping at me in the air. He does not make contact, but more of a quick snap in the air. He just did it then when I went to pat him, 'clack' in the air but then was fine being patted, ears back smiling away. Is it just teenage behaviour? The Grotty Rotty does not do it, so he is not picking it up there. Thanks.
  13. I apply this method with my husband actually... for example when we go into the supermarket he cannot make eye contact with other people and I discourage him the minute he tries to speak to anyone. Makes our shopping trips that much more pleasant and so much quicker.
  14. Hehehehe here is little Falco around 12 weeks old... and here he is again at 11 months old
  15. ummm hiya! I have a brag sort of... my boy Falco had his first intra club competition, he is in advanced puppies and out of 6 pups he came 3rd with 120 points.... here he is with his ribbon.
  16. Kirty he is not nervous, and approaches instead of retreats when this happens so I either ignore him and keep doing what I was doing or if it happens when he was in deep sleep I go out and chat generally to them both. That is what I think Jed.... Thanks guys.
  17. Hello there, Falco (GSD) is now 27 weeks old and it has only been in the past 3 weeks that he is been doing this.... OK... we are home, if we walk near the back door and he is asleep or snoozing on the back patio he wakes up barking (more of a woo woo bark as his voice has not broken) and growling, fur up as he comes to the door and upon seeing us he is fine and tail wagging fur down. But it happens all the time, very much like a flight or fight response when waking. I have never had a dog do this before... do we just ignore him??????
  18. thanks guys for feedback and comments, yes I need to shorten distance and the time and work from there.
  19. I am not sure if this really is an issue (yet). At dog school, in Advanced Puppies, my just now 6 month old GSD does off lead recalls in the puppy yard (enclosed paddock). I ask him to stay and the Instructor holds him, I do the normal walk away then call him... he comes and sit in front of me but this week the Instructor asks if he will stay whislt I walk away, I said no and her response was 'well he is a German Shepherd." I am expecting too much at this age for him to do that? He stays in either sit and drop off lead with me about 2 to 5 metres away though. ???
  20. well we had our first lesson at Mornington Obedience Dog Club.... what a delightful little set up, very nice and the grounds are great. Postive training, the puppy enclosures are fantastic, surrounded by pine trees. the smaller size is great so far.... everyone seems freindly and Falco had a great time
  21. I might do the first one then.... I just cannot train Sundays and the Rotty Club starts too early for me coming from work in the city Come with us Tess!!!!!!
