About 2-3. Sorry it's a bit vague.
-
Can you explain that a bit please, Steve? My terrier who goose honks has exactly the same diet as the terriers who dont goose honk.
-
Thanks puggy. I think I'll just take him in anyway. No he's not overweight but he is larger than the standard. Bloody dogs. Just when you think you have a clear run...
-
You want to run that past me again. No. Take it up with my breeder I know you want to.
-
How often does he 'goose honk' or have trouble breathing? It could be being caused by something that will not show up on the xray. ie. elongated soft pallet, enlarged larangeal saccules etc. For quite some time when it happens, puggy. How often? Not sure. Every few days in summer maybe? I'll take note this summer.

Raz, why would I want to contact her? What on earth has your breeder got to do with anything? Sometimes, you are so confusing. I know who bred your Pug, you'd have to have had your head down a termite mound for the last 2 years to not know who bred Pancake. So what though? Why are you now saying it is a terrier and a he we are discussing? As for what to do - you said you'd rather take your Vets advice, I suggest you do just that. No idea. I said from the outset it was a terrier I was worried about because he goose honks If you want to discuss my pug - contact my pug breeder
-
The breeder involved has always been open. Send her an email...or a pm Now getting back to my terrier - xray required? The last time he went under GA he had a seizure. Should I put him through this again?

This is subjective. Brachy syndrome is inherited and also congenital. It is congenital in that the structure of the brachy breed lends itself to the various conditions that make up brachy syndrome and these conditions are also an inherited trait. Urmm OK, Puggles. I think I'll take my vet's diagnosis but thanks anyway. Maybe take your issues up with Pancake's breeder. She has the vet report. If my pug gets sick again - touch wood - the last person who will be blamed is her breeder. Nuff said.
-
My pug is the result of a repeat mating. She doesnt have inherited problems but congenital. Freak mating. My breeder is a member on here and has been very open about that litter. There's an entire thread about it. Am I going to blame my breeder? No way. Am I going to call it bad breeding? I think not.
-
Why bad breeding?

On the weight issue - nup. It's impossible to put weight on the little bugger. She runs it all off. Very fit little dog. Nares - yes. Elongated palate - I'm not 100% but dont think it came up. Thanks for the advice. eta - elongated palate.
-
Yep sure, but it's the narrowing that concerns me for down the track. Look dont mind me - I freak out if the dogs so much as put their bloody tails down. Worry wart.
-
Goosehonking and coughing are symptoms of tracheal collapse. They are also symptoms of many other illneses such as heart disease, and elongated palate and irritation of the palate and epiglottis. Thanks puggles. Time for a health check I think. This thread has freaked me out a bit - but that's OK. Thanks for the headsup, Steve et al. eta hmmm while I'm freaking out, as a lot of you know, my pug was diagnosed with a congenital abnormality (narrowing) of her trachea before 12 months of age. She doesnt goose honk. This thread makes me think it is indeed a possibility that she could have tracheal collapse down the track. At what age would I possibly see it?

One of my terriers has the goose honk. Vet said it's only a doggy hayfever because it basically only happens in spring/summer. Should I have him xrayed?

Should Small And Big Dogs Behave The Same?
raz replied to grumpette's topic in General Dog Discussion
And so it should - in either direction. My small dogs have been victimised in the local off leash park by larger dogs. The owner turned to me and said 'oh they're just playing'. Crap. I dont care what size a dog is - they're either well behaved or the owner is at fault. If one of my small dogs acted the same he'd be taken straight home and sin binned. Its just unfortunate that IME all small dogs get away with this. The sentence you quoted was also refering to mine ALWAYS being on a leash when this happens to me !! ALL small dogs get away with it? Mine wouldnt. And my dogs ON LEAD were rushed by a large dog off lead as well!! Right onto a busy road Stop generalising. Not all owners of small dogs are imbeciles the same as not all owners of large dogs are imbeciles. -

How does that compare to the lifespan of a Grey? Pam, I think I met you at Canberra Royal a few years ago. Gorgeous deeries.

I'm loving the idea of a laid back dog that doesnt shed 12 months a year.
-
Good on you for seeing your doc and keep up with the scrap book or anything else that helps ease the grief a little. RIP wiggle bum.
-
No problem Puggles. Ellz shot it of to me and I've sent it on to my brother. Thanks Ellz.

Done. Looking forward to reading it. I'm looking forward to reading it as well. Unfortunately I think my copy took a detour via alpha centauri

hey dont forget, she also wants to wipe out the human race. Pretty funny considering they love to use the analogy of the holocaust for battery hens. Lunatics.
