The one I met was really clean and incredibly smart. I'd say they're smarter than a dog when it comes to training but it was just my experience with a one off. He was just amazing
-
I dont need a microphone. I can hear my sprouts screaming 'Ohh noesss Raz. Dont kill me' So with the males, can you give me an idea of stinkiness? The only ferret I've known has been a desexed male and he didnt stink at all

Oh for goodness sake, Moselle. Bugger off! You pick up your meat from the supermarket and probably kick the cashier in the teeth on your way out. Your posts are just absurd. I'm a vegan yet I find the thought of homekill really interesting yet you come in here while tucking into an abbatoir slaughtered animal wrapped up in frigging plastic and try to lecture people...Nay, you try try to lecture women that they shouldn't kill an animal. It's BLOODY brilliant! That t-bone you're tucking into tonight was probably killed by someone in a skirt. Good on her.

Why Are There So Many Gory Topics In This Section ?

I agree with you. Check out the happy news stories - they get very few responses. Isnt it bizarre! Koala, that's what Lo Pan is saying. He just said it a different way -
What Would You Do? Job Overseas Vs Dogs
raz replied to chichihuahua's topic in General Dog Discussion
Grab it by the teeth and run - and take your pooch with you. It's no biggy and plenty of anxious dogs fly. My sis relocated a few times and took her dog and he was the biggest woose in the world. Gomez on this forum has a very well travelled dog as well. If you cant take him, well your parents are there to look after him so it's not as if you're just giving him the flick. Sounds like a great opportunity so best of luck. -
Same here. I'd love to get some for my dogs but the farmed bunnies are about $25 a pop.
-
ahhh rightyo. Fascinating little critters.
-
How does that work considering the positioning of the adrenals? Really interesting and sorry to bombard you.
-
I'm thinking that as well, WJ - sort of comparing them to my terriers.
-
Ok enough is enough, Moselle. Can we be left alone to learn about ferreting please? Ta. Maybe take your moselle down to OT and start whatever thread you want about ladies sitting in the loungeroom happily sewing away with their tapestries and pretty packaged up meat at franklins. Polecatty, do you desex the males or are they better at their job entire?
-
Not even a teddy bear survives more than 3 seconds here, Polecatty, and the poor teddies dont even run away to give chase. It's a death zone, I tell ya
-
Thanks again, Polecatty. I'd love a ferret but while I have terriers, I dont think it's such a great idea.
-
Not the females ferrets - that would just make them rough around the edges. Go away, Moselle.
-
A few more questions - do you have to dig the dead bunnies out or can you teach a ferret to bring them out of the burrow for you? And Are males or females better at this or does gender not really play a part?
-
Thanks polecatty. That's really interesting.
-
So only men can shoot and fish? Ofcourse, Souffle. In this day and age women can be rocket scientists, brain surgeons...they can even run countries but god forbid they should do what women have been doing across the globe since time immemorial and catch food for the table. That would make them rough around the edges. I think maybe Moselle is stuck in some really bizarre fold in the space-time continuum. Back to the topic, do ferreters (if that's a word) ever lose their ferrets down the burrows? How do you get them back out?
-
What a great saturday morning read. Have fun, Nek. make sure to take piccies of the ferrets doing what they're designed for

Rabies Vaccinations Prevent Culling Thousands Of Stray Dogs
raz replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Normally I would say the same thing, Poodie, but think about young Indonesian soldiers firing off guns in crowded villages (I assume they use the army for culling over there). Not a great visual . -
Rabies Vaccinations Prevent Culling Thousands Of Stray Dogs
raz replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Thanks Rusky. Sorry for all the questions but I'm really interested - how long does rabies take to show symptoms and are there any risks of giving the dog the vax if it already has it? I guess it doesnt matter really because if it has it, it's going to be killed anyway but I'm thinking of the wastage of vax more than anything. And I totally agree with you about the Indo Govt. -

How do they know which dogs have already been vax'd? I'd think they dont have the money to knock them out to tattoo the inside of their ear so maybe they just tag the ear??? I just had another thought - how do they know the dog doesnt already have rabies when they give it the vax? -
ahh fair enough. That would be terrifying for little kids to watch.

Greydove is in Sydney and I'm pretty sure she's a member on the forum. Tartufo is in Bathurst (I dont think Margaret is on the net). eta oops yes she is on email I dont know the other breeders listed on the breed page but worth giving them all a call and have a chat. Goodluck. Gorgeous little dogs!
-
I totally agree. What on earth was with the guy near the cameraman who was singing?
-
Maybe people should take that into consideration before buying an animal and factor it in to the overall cost. Vets dont run a charity - it's their livelihood.

That's such a cool film. It's all about the pack.
