Well all we can go off is what's in the OP. OP said her dogs got out after one day at a new house. I'm sure the owners of the attacked dog didnt just do a random search of someone in the white pages and successfully find someone whose dogs got out. Dont mean to be a smart ass but I have a pug who weighs 4.5 kilos. If she'd been sitting somewhere and was attacked by 2 roaming dogs (granted she wouldnt be sitting unsupervised in a dog prohibited area but that's beside the point) she'd probably be dead. If your dogs are at large and attack another dog, you're in breach. As said by a previous poster, looks like the OP got off with a warning. Why fight that when they know their dogs were loose?

Cut her a bit of slack, LM. It seems she might be a youngish person still home with mum. She knows now it isnt a great idea to have an unrestrained pup in the car.

'Generally' isnt good enough. If your dogs arent under effective control 100% of the time, they shouldnt be offleash in a dog park. Pure and simple. Too late if you say - 'oh sorry, sorry, they've never done that before' if the other owner is racing their dog to a vet to be stitched up. It's why these dog parks polarise communities. I'm glad I dont see you when out walking as well because if your dogs behaved like brats near mine, I jolly would shout at you! I would do more than that as well.

Sooo instead of prosecuting someone who neglects a dog and withholds vet treatment they should just turn a blind eye? How else were they going to get an order to have him prevented from owning another dog for several years - just ask him nicely not to get another one? They were awarded costs anyway. And you dont even know why the dog was deemed unsuitable to rehome, as already pointed out.

It's not his dog to kill. He's hardly going to pay for the poor little thing to be euth'd when he doesnt have the money to desex after forking out 2k for injuries to his little foxy after his Akita mauled it. The first thing he should have done when he 'found' the 'abandoned' dog was to ring the ranger - no ifs or buts. Dogs are not finders-keepers to decide on a whim what happens to them. Leave it to the correct channels!

If the dog had been surrendered MONTHS ago when the owner decided not to pay $ for vet treatment (and food by the look of the poor starved girl) she might have had a better chance of being rehomed. Point the finger where it's due. Not every dog is going to be deemed rehomable so get used to it.
