  1. I'd report the incident to management but I have to ask, if you were so upset about it, why didnt you say something to the guy rather than let the pup out of his crate?
  2. ;) Pots and kettles much? I agree with Jeff - the fact that you're in charge of children as a supposed role model is extremely concerning!
  3. ;) They should just pull out their glocks and shoot his dog
  4. Good point. Next time he tries to open a front gate to answer a DV complaint he should already have his glock out.
  5. I send emails on my pups birthdays; one puppy owner took great offence to this and on the 2nd birthday replied to my email telling me to "stop harassing them" or they'd take out a restraining order and that they "wanted a dog not a new friend". So I try and respect those who don't want contact but since I like contact, I also try and pick buyers who are like that. That's really sad but I guess some people are just weird. A longstanding friend of mine is a breeder and something similar happened to her when she simply sent an email and said Hi how is the puppy fitting in. The buyer went apeshit and told her to mind her own business. Some people are just dickheads and you have to scratch them off the xmas card list. For Baileysmum I'd say 4 out of 7 puppy owners who keep in contact is probably pretty good. Bit of a shame they dont all keep in contact with a rare breed like the mighty little Aussie terrier but you sort of have to take the good with the not so good, I guess.
  6. Me as a buyer, ohsoswift? I'd be pretty thrilled but I like to keep in contact with breeders anyway so I'm just trying to put the shoe on the other foot to help out Baileysmum and trying to look at it from a buyer who hasnt kept up the contact. It would only make me feel uncomfy if I thought the breeder didnt actually care about my puppy but had another litter coming up and was building up a data base in order to flog off another pup but BM doesnt strike me as that sort of ra ra sales tactic type person. Disclaimer - I dont know any breeders who would do that anyway. I'm just sort of thinking of big ticket sales agents who do that.
  7. :D I just reread your OP and had to copy that bit. I've been pondering this topic. I'd say go for it - you've obviously thought about it enough to start a thread and it looks to me that you simply just care. If there wasnt a falling out with the 3 buyers who dont keep in contact and they just fell off the planet, I'd say they'd probably be pretty thrilled and you'll get some puppy pics back in return. Just do it and see what happens. I'm sure they wont ring you up and abuse you
  8. I'm trying to look at it from the point of view of the people who would be creeped out. Have you and the buyers maintained contact since point of purchase, BM? 2 of my breeders became friends so they wouldnt creep me out if they sent Spot and Fluffy a card, squeaky toy, bag of biccies or whatever but one breeder I never maintained contact with and if she sent something out of the blue I'd probably think it was a bit weird as well (and I'd probably look at it as a sales tactic to get me to buy another puppy...not sure now).
  9. This thread is actually really interesting following on from one where a lot of people said breeders have so little custumer service they cant even be bothered replying to a puppy enquiry. For those who would find it a bit weird, what if you just received a card or an email on your puppy's first birthday with a personalised message along the lines of - Hi to you and little rover on his first 12 months and hope you're going well bla bla. Would that be weird or would you feel like it was one of those generic xmas cards from LJHooker hoping you turn around and give them the listing back when you decide to sell your house? eta would it feel weird to you as in a sales tactic weird?
  10. Not from me. I was kind of hoping you'd forget that I bred her and I could quielty slip out of the country :D You give much more than a chrissy present or VD card, Warley. Besides - I know where you live and one day I'm going to send you something much worse than a Pancake
  11. Yep I agree I'm probably a bit nutty too raz, all my family & friends are starting to call me the "Crazy dog lady, that lives in the hills" I think it's a really nice little touch, BM. I want to buy a puppy from you one day.
  12. What a lovely idea. One of my breeders sent a xmas present every December and a Valentine's card in Feb - I certainly didnt expect it but always thought it was pretty cute; a bit nutty but still very cute.
  13. sure for sure. They're public servants and have one thing in mind - their paycheck. That's fair enough but they're not psychiatrists so I think it's pretty rude they want to label someone as a hoarder if they own more than 4 dogs.
  14. That's really funny. I know an RSPCA inspector and she has never owned a pet - she's just a jack boot wearing radical who earns her money pushing a pencil and loves to call people hoarders. I agree with Megz as well.
  15. I'd put money on a grey wearing a pink 8 and i dont even gamble.
  16. mine looks like I'm saying it in a tiny little squeak. OK how's this GO THE PINK DOGS!!!
  17. much better then my piddling effort :D And my piddling effort.
  18. Maybe that is a special service for their Catholic dogs? :D
  19. Oh god how funny. Way to go to slam an org for raising awareness about breast cancer. Was that FB page started by Peta idiots? Go the pink dogs!
  20. Oops I didnt read your OP correctly and thought you meant solid white. All white body but markings on the face - yep I'd say go for it but make sure pup has black pigment around the eyes and snout. Do you have any photos?
  21. I've never seen an all white in the show ring and cant imagine it would do very well. Clown faces dont seem to do well very often either. good luck with your future pup and have fun!
  22. Gee that's a bit rugged, isnt it? Telling some owners their breed is ugly is as bad as telling them their children are ugly. If you dislike the breed so much, what breeders charge for them is irrelevant to you. I think they're gorgeous little dogs and those I've met have not been snappy or barky at all. Maybe they just sensed a human in their midst or was tsk tsking them and were actually barking at you?
  23. Exactly! A vet who shoves dogs on a conveyor belt and whips them in and out the door with lightning speed isnt going to get too many repeat clients. As stormie said, they just cant win.
  24. Knock Knock Knock. Where's the scientific evidence it works on envenomation by Australian Venomous Snakes, Souffle? What's that??? Ohh there isnt any. There probably isnt any evidence it works for American Pit Viper venom either , not that Pit Vipers kill dogs like Elapids do. Find me a herpetologist who will use vit c rather than AV when he or his children are envenomated by an Australian venomous snake and I'll eat my fluffy hat.
  25. Well as I said it seems like something was lost in translation. Vets cant ask for all money upfront in the case of snake bite because they dont know what the final bill is going to be. The dog might need one vial and 24 hours. he might need 3 vials and 10 days of round the clock vet care and daily CKL tests. He might suffer serum sickness and need treatment for that, or he might have ongoing problems from the venom and/or AV for 12 months or longer. A vet cant possibly say, right treatment for this snake bite is going to cost x dollars and I need it all before I start. maybe the vet asked for a deposit to cover the cost of the vial but the owner of the dog in the OP was too upset to explain it properly to the OP
