    Child Killed By Dog

It was a really good segment and the CEO from Lort Smith was excellent, wasnt she. Charlie continually bringing it back to the issue of ownership was fantastic. Good job, charlie! With regard to the mapping (sure they could have mapped ALL serious attacks because the way they had it just keeps feeding the current frenzy) it was more to do with showing the max penalties on the owners, I thought. Vic currently only has a $4,500 fine whereas the other states hold prison terms? Kicking myself I didnt record it.

And sorry, Dunnwarren - i didnt mean to sound like a smart ass. I'm just really upset about that little girl, as we all are.

Why dont you concentrate on explaining what irresponsible dog ownership is rather than breeds that bite? Anything with teeth can bite.

Each to their own indeed. I had a gorgeous dog who snapped one day. Picked up a kid in a totally unprovoked situation and swung her around like a ragdoll. What should I have done - keep the dog I loved around for a few weeks to get an assessment done? Nup. totally irrelevant anyway. We dont even know if this is the first attack or not. Too late, though. The dog killed a little child who would still be alive today if the frigging owner had kept it contained.

Raz, i am sure it will be destroyed, no argument, but at a guess the assessment could be to find why perhaps? Thats the only reason I can see. Yep yep true, Krustie. I wasnt having a go at Steve. I was saying what I would do in this situation.

If that was one of my dogs it would be dead. No way in hell would I get it assessed - it would be getting the needle.

    Child Killed By Dog

absolutely. I'd like to see this owner hit with a comparable penalty to culpable drive. If that was a drunk driver that killed this child he'd be in prison. Bring it on for irresponsible dog owners who dont contain their dogs and they end up killing someone. Frigging disgusting. I dont give a rat's ass how the dog got out but the fact is, if it had been contained in it's own yard, that little girl would still be alive. To think that family came here for a better, safer life, then their little child was killed by a dog at large. Absolutely outrageous. How many more deaths will it take before moron owners are brought into line.

Who cares how the dog found the little kids in the front yard or got into the house. 1 child is dead and 2 people are injured. That poor family and the Dad doesnt even know yet. Just horrific.
  9. If they received a malicious PM they can report it to the forum owner
  10. I was just thinking the exact same thing raz...there was no need to be so rude to the lady, I'm sure she was just being concerned for the health of your puppy. Yes, BM. It's a great opportunity to turn around and talk to people about pet ownership but I question why this person gets stopped so often and asked if the pup is vax'd. sounds like total bullshit to me - either that or the puppy is just too young to be out. Why else would people keep asking?
  11. Wow. What a great ambassador for dog ownership you are.
  12. Laid back! I've only met one and she was the gentlest dog I've ever come across. beautiful beautiful breed.
  13. I wasnt commenting on chis. I was commenting on morons who call runts 'teacups'. They're not frigging teacups - they're undersized dogs. I have a runt and I'm sick to death of how many times people in the street have told me what a lovely teacup I have. My bloody teacups are in the kitchen, not on lead in the street.
  14. Wow he sure has been busy, hasnt he. I really love his Deerhound.
  15. Did anyone ring up that idiot and tell him that the only teacup is something you pour tea into?
  16. Keep him out of your house if he doesnt know how to behave himself in another person's home. You say he has an untrained dog but is telling you what to do and what he will do to your puppy? Crate the neighbour! he sounds like a dickhead. As others have said, put the puppy away while other kids are in the house to keep the pup safe. And tell the father to bugger off.
  17. Only let him in your home when the kid is crated. Sorry couldnt resist. Dont let him in your house if he's threatening to hit your puppy. End of story.
  18. Hey, what? I dont get what you mean. Shit a brick last time I spend two hours looking stuff up for someone.
  19. Just jump on any of the shanghai expat websites, LMSW. Heaps of stuff on there but I just did a quick skim through for you. I think Lilli's advice is the best - get lots of info from the people on the China side to make your entry smooth. Once again I think Lilli nailed it - make sure it's all what the Chinese authorities need as far as paperwork getting Rover's entry approved, and AQIS for paperwork getting Rover's exit done. Out of curiosity, what's the conflicting info you and your parents have been given? It might help someone else down the track to know what sort of bureaucratic nightmare they might be facing like you are now
  20. Here's another pet relocation company I saw recommended a few times on a shanghai expat forum http://www.jialiang.com/english/Trading.asp
  21. I looked them up and found this in FAQ. Might be worth shooting these guys an email, LMSW. There's also details for a vet over there for once Rover is in Shanghai so I'll include that as well but your parents have probably already sussed that out 4. I am bringing in (or taking out my pet from) to Shanghai. Moving companies seem to be very expensive. Can I do this on my own instead? You can do this on your own, but we don’t recommend it. There is paperwork, bureaucracy and connections on both ends of a move that most individuals do not know how to make work smoothly. A mistake, or creating a disgruntled customs official, can result in your pet sitting extra days in unknown surroundings (and you possibly not being allowed to see the animal). We always advise using a professional pet moving company that is well experienced and well connected at all levels on how to make a move for your pet as painless as possible. For more information on bringing your pet to China or advice on proffesional services please contact: [email protected] Back to Top 5. You often advise using PAW animal clinic, but they seem expensive compared to some of the local vets. Can you recommend other clinics? Quite literally, you usually get what you pay for in terms of veterinary care here in Shanghai. We simply find that PAW offers the best veterinary care, meeting strict western standards for diagnosis and medicine use. Many of the other veterinary clinics are not very good and we have heard many horror stories. If anyone has a veterinary clinic they would like to recommend, we would be glad to post this information on our website, but to date only PAW has met our standards to recommend to our members and to the general public. We also have very generous sponsorship from PAW, which offers initial check-ups for SCAA-sponsored animals for RMB 100 plus medical costs. 22. They treat baby baboons the same way. I thought that was really interesting.
  23. For goodness sake she's going over there to visit her parents and take their dog over to them, not to become a business exec involved in corrupt activities. Go and start a thread in OT if you want to talk about how much China freaks you out - it's got nothing to do with this thread.
