  1. Hmmmm. Seems like the owner of the JRT is the real bully. The way I read it the Shep was just trying to sort out hierarchy. I have JRTs by the way. They are a big dog in a small package.
  2. Oh god aint that the truth. And they usually are!
  3. Even at 6 months JRTs are incredibly strong and can play rough so I agree with Sandgrubber - supervision is essential. The timetable looks good, though. It seems there will always be someone in the house to watch the little terrors. Many time wasting hours ahead of you, Michael Your household certainly wont be boring. Pics are compulsory!!!
  4. Yeah that's news to me as well Abergavenny. Gotta love those generalisations, eh! Only one of mine has ever snapped and that was once when he was a puppy and with provocation. Kaffy good idea to not let Sniffy sleep on the bed. I'd also suggest keeping an eye on her on the couch ie dont let her sit on the head-rest higher than the kids. The bitches in my experience can be bossy if you let them but they respond really well to authority and training. Damn smart little critters, as you've already noticed. During play if she does get over the top everyone needs to learn to ignore her. Turn your backs and walk away. It looks like she's already learnt that when she's naughty the play time with the kids is over anyway. Good for you for saving a pound puppy and may you have many hilarious moments with Sniffy in the future
  5. Oh shit I wish I hadnt looked at this thread.
  6. Not when experienced breeders do it at a few days old but in your case I would think it would be under GA, pigpup. No they dont grow back (if done correctly).
  7. My breeder removed dew claws when the tails were docked. I'd think for running through scrub you'd be best to have them removed, pigpup. I've heard horror stories about dogs ripping the skin right off the entire leg when dew claws are ripped out in accidents.
  8. Little tearies. This just gets better. Ahum.... my lot havent had kibble in over a year and cant see myself ever going back to it. I love raw feeding and so do my dogs. Having a friendly butcher who puts things away for them really helps as well.
  9. Yes pics please. I love GSPs. What a shame you're in Vic - I'd love to come out and watch your guys in action while you're hunting.
  10. Interesting. As you know Pokemon and Fabs are very sensitive and I react badly at the same times of year that they do. Physiological or psychological? I dont know. We eat the same stuff.
  11. I just asked the butcher and he said no SD in human grade meat. Excuse me while I say Bllsht. I'm not concerned about the chemicals I consume, Dan, just what the dogs are getting. Thanks a stack for all the info you gave me months ago on raw food only. It has helped a treat The sulphur is still a concern though.
  12. Zayda do you know how much sulphur dioxide is contained in human grade meat? It doesnt have the shelf life of pet grade meat so I'm thinking there'd be a hell of a lot less. I know butchers do use it to keep meat looking red and prevent it from smelling rank too quickly.
  13. I use a variety - the bigger the performance the smellier the reward. Mortadella is good
  14. Oh and 4 vials of AV. Nevertheless, AV is pretty exy.
  15. Oh and before that price freaks anyone out too much I should add that that was a Specialty clinic with vets, nurses etc rostered on 24/7, a Vet specialising in envenomation and during a holiday period when local clinics were closed, intensive care for over a week and a pet ambulance factored in there as well to get from one clinic to the other in the middle of the night, plus daily CKlevel tests on both dogs.
  16. No doesnt look like you are, Curly. Just on the point of Vit C treatment in place of antivenene - I do know a Neopolitan breeder from a show list whose Vet suggested Vit C only. Disastrous result. Bloody irresponsible of the Vet. eta - no it's still super expensive, Curly. I think our bill for 2 dogs on AV for over a week was about 6 grand. The option we were given was to go for AV or green dream.
  17. Oh deargod, Muttley. They may as well just tell the vet to give their dogs the green dream - it'll have the same outcome without the horrific pain that goes with it.
  18. I've spoken to enough Vets and Herpers to know this isnt the case, Curly, but if it makes you feel better then go for it. Goodluck through the rest of the snake breeding season - things start to calm down in Autumn.
  19. There's no scientific evidence to support it, Curly. The only cure for envenomation is antivenene ASAP. All you do with vit c injections is waste valuable time and subject your dog to further pain and stress. Has one of your dogs been bitten? Most initial bites are dry bites but I wouldnt be mucking around. If the vet has a venom test kit on hand you can ask for the test first but you'll see symptoms of envenomation pretty quickly. I think our guys started exhibiting symptoms within about 10 minutes - if that.
  20. My lord that's a pricey enema, Petey!!! You're talking Hollywood prices at that rate.
  21. Oh shit I wish I hadnt seen this thread. I'm so sorry KK. As Fifi said - very brave of you to release him.
  22. Hot dang this is a topic right up my alley, Pete How is he this year? eta Gee those pots look like they need the help of Dolofa!
  23. oh F*#@ I'm so sorry Jintanut. I'll PM you.
  24. Oh No, GM. Horus is the knowlegeable one. He knows everything. ;)
