So what exactly will these 'shows' entail? I've read that all dogs will have to be examined by a veterinary surgeon prior to 'exhibition' (very time consuming) and that the general public will be much more involved than they are at ANKC shows, but other than that everything appears to be very vague. Other than testing for working ability (possible, but will be difficult and once again extremely time consuming at an all breeds show) and ensuring that every dog can do the job for which it was originally bred (even more difficult as some of those jobs no longer exist) I cannot begin to imagine how one of your 'shows' is going to be conducted or what is going to be required of the exhibits. Ok off topic but how can every dog be examined by a vet? Now most shows have hundreds of entries, you would quite a few vets on hand and what time would the exhibitors be expected to arrive at the show so they have plenty of time to have their dog/s checked..

I was what would have been a average puppy buyer... I am ashamed to say but when I wanted a pup I started looking for an oodle.. I stared my search with google, I read a little, then read some more then I found out about pure breeds and read some more, and I found a great registered breeder, so much so that all my three girls have come from them.. My point is that most people don't care, as much as we wish they would stop and think about where that pup has come from they don't.. I am all for pet shops not selling pets, and I understand that the ANKC can not legally stop its members from selling to pet shops, so it has done what it could and make it that it has to be a PIAA pet shop, now I am not satying that this is ok, but its hands are tied legally.. So the only other way we can stop this is by stopping pet shops from selling pets.. Annie I think there is a lot of websites out there that are easy to find and tell the public about puppy farms, but again it comes down to wether that member of the public wants to know.. I tell people to buy from a ethical registered breeder and I point them in a few different directions..

When Are You Classified A Crazy Dog Owner....
MissMolly replied to Beaglelover:)'s topic in General Dog Discussion
You know you are a crazy dog person when you fall asleep on the couch with the four dogs because OH complains they take up too much room on the bed, and you prefer to sleep with the dogs instead of the OH... After all the dogs don't complain about how much room he takes up on the bed.. You have a wagon so you can take the dogs in the car, even though OH would loved a SS sedan.. You have 1000's of photos of the dogs on your computer, not so many of the skin kids.. You are looking at buying them a large ottoman because they really don't laying on their beds that are on the floor, they prefer to be off the floor... Mind you they do also have the couch.. -
Dogs/or One Of Them Has Eaten Half A Block Of Butter..
MissMolly replied to MissMolly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Just want to say that the girls have been fine and have not shown any signs of having upset tummys etc... I will still keep an eye on them but it seems like they will be fine, and I will be going out and buying a dog proof bin, if there is such a thing.. Thanks everyone... -
Dogs/or One Of Them Has Eaten Half A Block Of Butter..
MissMolly replied to MissMolly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thanks persephone, they are cavaliers, (just edited my post).. -
Just came home to find that tthe 4 girls had gotten into the bin, now normally this bin isn't used for food scraps etc, but yesterday I threw half a block of butter in there (it was inside a butter container) and it has been licked clean.. I am unsure which one has eaten it or if it was shared about, at a guess I would say Miss Lily is the one that had it as she has some on the top of her head.. Lily is almost two... Now my girls never get fatty foods and I am worried that it could lead to pancreastitis, am I worrying over nothing? and if I should be worried how long would it take for sythpoms of pancreastitis to show up? I know a few signs are sore tummy, vomitting and yellow poo's.. Any advice apprectiated.. ETA They they are cavaliers..

Breed Groups And Their Uses And Problems
MissMolly replied to MissMolly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Most of the "problems" you've identified are owner, not breed created. If you identified that as small dogs, developed to be kept indoors and as constant companions, they don't cope well with an outside life and little attention, I think that would be a far more accurate assessment of the Toy Group. Thanks Poodlefan... Its been a few years since I had homework to do.. -
Breed Groups And Their Uses And Problems
MissMolly replied to MissMolly's topic in General Dog Discussion
Given the disparity of breeds within some Groups, you'll not find too many common uses OR problems. What do you mean by "problems" by the way? We have sheets to fill out one for each group and we have to list each dog in that group and their uses and some problems, it doesn't make sense to me as each dog breed is different.. This is an example of the Toy group I did, some uses are, great for people with limited space, great to have curl up on your lap... Problems can become yappy, people tend to not train them and they can become nasty towards other dogs and people.. Just general stuff. -
Now I wasn't going to post and ask for help, but I can not find what I am looking for.. I need to know the uses and problems in the following dog groups.. Terriers Hounds Gundogs Working Utility Non sporting Now I don't need much just a couple of examples of uses and problems.. When I search I can find uses for each breed and problems for each breed but not as a group, so I was hoping that DOLers with dogs from these groups could help me out... MM

X2 x 3  Just saw this cat on the news and he has been shaved, he didn't look like his skin had been burnt, though one of his ears looked like it was almost cut all the way thru and he has cuts on his face..

Fantasic outcome... No words (well I do but I have yet to have a warning off Troy, thought it would be worth it..) for the people that have dumped him like they have, I am just happy that he will live out his remining years spoil and loved unconditionally...

I too think the ratio would be much higher and would liked it if they used the correct numbers as I think that would make the public take much more notice..
