I never blowdry my lagottos at the shop... we brush and fluff first them wash and air dry in a warm room that way you keep the look of the curl.. Ive got 2 that i groom one gets a #3 twice a year and the other go a #5 beginning of summer by their choice cause she get hot... They both get bathed in either plush puppy or a tee tree based shampoo that we have at the salon and always use a conditioner. can use aloveen oatmeal as its a leave in but its all subjective... I have to say that i would never use human shampoo on dogs... it temd to dry out the skim and coat, can cause problems later down the track but thats me.

I sell 100% natural dried liver and chicken at my grooming salon in Adelaide,,, I know its 100% because we make it ourselves.. get yourself a dehydrator from a food store and make it yourself... only way to be sure i guess. -
Do you feed your dogs fruit? my goldie yes but my poodle wont! If so, which fruit? mainly bananas, he's obsessed and doesnt get an upset tummy either. he also loves oranges What do they love? strawberries are a big hit What is their favourite? bananas definately bananas What is really good for them? no idea but its fun to watch him eat it! ;)

we use wahl km2 and i must say i love the andis ones for a finer finish.. they run faster(and hotter) so you have to be careful. but both are great! -

Hip Dysplasia ~updated With New Pics~

Sounds the same as with my boy... I thought his back end wasnt developing muscle properly but if you follow walking and exersize guidlinges as you said you have and i have they wont develo muscle in the back end like others that are over exercised at a young age... I had him castrated at 16months but opted not to x-ray at that time and see how he developes.. My boy wasnt showing signs of pain or distress but found it really hard to get up as a youngster like he had no strength in his back legs.. at nearly 20 months old now with regular walks and hydrotherapy he is fine and the vets dont susspect anyhting is wrong now. just to show you.. at 12 weeks at16weeks at20 weeks (5months) at 6 months at12 months.. i kept him very lean until about 3 weeks ago ive bulked him up now buit he needed the extra weight off to help him move at14 months After castration and hydrotherapy this was taken in april this year at 18 months hope that helps a bit... i wouldnt worry just yet -
Questions For Groomers
GoldiesRgr8Poodles2 replied to Kissindra's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Its for everything from airdales to cockers and westies inbetween... lots of terriers breeds do get stripped like schnauzersand the such. And unfortunately for you im in Adelaide! -
I have a poodle with seperation anxiety... If we go out she would destroy her bed then jump on ours and pee on it... as a puppy she used to pee on her bed... It was a comfort thing to make things smell like her to make her more comfortable and relaxed while i was gone... Wehn i go out i lock up her be and her brothers, shut all bedroom doors and give them a pigs ear. Usually if im home there isnt a problem but there was when she was your staffys age.... They are babies and are still learning the ropes.. if he hasnt done it befoere thenhe wouldnt really know it was a negative behavious... My poodl is 18months old though and she'll still do it

GoldiesRgr8Poodles2 replied to Justchillin's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My standard bitch has always been veryunder weight. for her hedight she should be around the 20kg marks but is barely 16kg. I found that royal canin maintains the weight she has but she doesnt put any on so Ive started giving her 10 chicken necks for breakky which she eats happily them 3 cups of kibble at night and thats doing to job well... plus they are cheep at only $2.50 a kilo! -

ILoveFlatCoats...... I LOVE flat coats have 3 or 4 at the salon 1 choc and the others black and they are gorgeous temperaments!!!!!! and they shine like the river on a moonlit night after! -
I have to disagree on my personal experience with your first comment... My golden boy was 16months when I had him castrated and I saw a huge change in his personality adn he didnt gain weight but he was able to maintain it after that. Up to then I had real trouble keep his weight constant hecould ddrop kilos in a day or so just from being over stimulated following his manly duty. He sniffed the ground constantly and I couldnt break his scent and he started developing dominant agressive behaviour over other large breed males. Im not an inexperienced handler and I have pack leadership but still this continued. He was the best most relieable dog to walk for so long but he got the point where his behaviour was uncontrollable because his hormones were running him not his sence to list to his mum. Got him done forst week of jan now he is grade 4 obedience since feb because he is such a good boy.. he listens and is not trying to hunt on the ground all the time. My bitch however i saw no differnece in... She's a standard podle andShe is just as hard to keep weight on now as she was before i had her speyed so in that i will agree and her temperament was no different either. But my boy was a huge difference. But as i said this isnt a rule for everyone this is just my experience. I was dissapointed that id exhausted all the other options with my goldie because there was a possibly good show career for him that what i bought him for but what was most important was that we enjoyed eachother and we werent before the snip. My best friend however has a 8yr old cocker ex show and ex breeder who is the most well behaved dog all round... never dominant with other males, never gets out of his mind about females his worst attribute is that he cocks his leg in the salon when he comes in if we turn our backs. But he is a perfect example of a dog that it wouldnt change to have him castrated. And her bitch has lost weight after spey because when she first got her she was 8 weeks out of pup and just desexed and was still carrying alot of weight from the pups.

Wheatens are hard but im lucky enough to deal with 4 of them... One is kept in a full head but a light body clip to keep him neat every 5 months or so... got one that shaved off all year because he tangles too easily for the parents and they'd rather have him short than the up keep... one in a short bodied show clip and the other with a show head but body shave off... I love wheatens so they arent a breed that i find hard but my first one i was so greaztful to have a pic to follow and i got it right so he's very much the "same as last time dog" -

I dont mind notes for even common breeds... if there is a particular way that the parents want their dog groomed better they tell me than me so i dont go and do my own thing and be wrong. I dont mind them and pics are even better if there is a very specific look their going for. As long as the dog isnt in bad condition im happy to do special requests but notsabouy nails cut and ear plucked i could do without! -
Agree with Silverblue all round!!!

Has everyone else been getting the salon hoppers that say "I've been away" abnd you know damn well that these knotts are longer than a week or two to get there... Last person that started saying it i spoke over the top of anf said ive been away, yes dear i know the storey jut show me how bad the dog is... every new client with a matted dog seems to like this storey... I know a lot of my clients are well off money wise and do travel but i also know the ones that dont go away and lie to me. that grates my cheese! Im lucky though becasue most of my clientel are very regular and dont get bad but I hvae at least 6 sets of dogs that i get once or twice a year.. the last lot i made the owner cry.... last winter as it was starting the owner brought his maltese shitzu pomeranian whatever crosses they want to say in for their 6 monthly groom.... 4HOURS LATER AND A #15!!!!!!!!!!!! nothing else got under it it was incredible... The owner came back and yelled at me and id had enough of this woman her attitude towards me and the obvious neglect of his dogs and i let fly at her. Told he she couldnt love these dogs or they wouldnt get like this they will now face serious problems through winter because they are 24hrs outside and one dogs hair had scratched the eye so badly i didnt think she could see through the clouding in it.... She argued back with some sob storey and my response was that if she couldnt look after them and give them a home they diserved she should give them to someone who can! She now comes in every month cause it works out cheeper for her in the long run adn they look better. Despite monthly washes and tidys they STILL get knotts!!!! i just dont get how some people cannot take more pride in their dogs appearance, i enjoy brushing my dogs and them looking good not cause im a groomer but i was brought up that way.... luckily its getting better t my salon and not worse so my worst days of anguish over rude people telling me Im a groomer now groom dont lecture of shave my response is simply You pay me to groom not torture go elsewhere Im sure they'll be happy to for the money! -
Keeping Terrier Hair On Legs..
GoldiesRgr8Poodles2 replied to Missymoo's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Definately sounds like coat change.. As been said always wash the dogs product out after a show.. You can always use a conditioning sprey between baths to help brush the hair too... That should reduce breakage of the coat. Apart from that time is all you need to "fix" the problem! -

A few questions then I might have some advise... How old is the dog, Has it been desexed or gone through a season or welped.. These can all contribute. -
