I have to admit, I'm worried the council will take him and put him down. They don't work with rescue over here, and besides, I think he is very old. They'd likely put him down if they had him come there.

I was driving home from Woolies, on a 4 lane highway and saw an ancient English Pointer stumbling down the road. I immediately stopped and ran back - about 8 houses back. The dog was standing in the front yard of a house with a sign about fruit trees for sale. The back gate was open. I walked up to it and it was hugely friendly. Skin and bone, swaying on it's feet, cloudy eyes and really grey around the muzzle. I knocked on the door of the house and an older Italian woman answered. I asked if it was her dog and she said "yeah". I asked if she knew he was walking down the road. She said "yeah I know, I let him out for walk every day". I said "do you have any idea how close he was to that VERY busy road? He's also very old and not steady on his feet" She says "Oh he good dog, he not go on road". I tried again and said "it's an offence to let dogs wander". Her reply? "Oh he never hurt anyone, he just go for walk". I cracked it, saying "one day, your dog is going to get hit by a car, and it's not going to be you that suffers, it will be your poor bloody DOG! Or someone that hates wandering dogs will poison him!" She again says "he fine!" Stupid cow. As I was leaving (after one last pat for the dog), she calls out "hey you wanna buy my fruit trees??" I was seriously pissed and said "NO I do not want to buy any of your f***ing fruit trees!" I'm calling the council on Monday.

Can anyone tell me what time I need to arrive to see the lappies judged? I'm so excited!

Goofy I'm coming to your house! You seem to have a house full of BIRMANS!!!

My cats go to my sisters and my dog goes to my Nan. The kids would go to my mum, so I want the dog still around them. She's my sons dog and he's very attached.

My sister's rescue cat was coming from Sydney to Adelaide - and ended up in MELBOURNE overnight. I'm pretty sure that was Dogtainers too.

How sad

My mum has her Shar pei and her Amstaff covered by Medibank. Amstaff is healthy and has had no claims. Pei on the other hand, has had entropian - both eyes, at separate times. Then she did her knee. She needed that operated on. So, in a year, she cost the insurance company $11,000. Mum has paid $200. She's lucky she had it.

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)

Your inbox is still full lol. My kids do NOT need it - they'll wreck it. A desktop is far more suitable for them. I was only going to let them use it cause it's been sitting around doing absolutely nothing. Where do you want me to send it? I've come across a charger on Ebay - way cheaper than in the stores so I'll have that sent direct to you. -
Opinion Piece In Sydney Morning Herald - Puppy Farms
Ker replied to Curlybert's topic in In The News
I visited a quite notorious puppy farm last year. I had to rescue two dogs from there - otherwise, I wouldn't have set foot in the place. I faked and lied my ASS off to get a tour of the hell hole. I saw more than I wanted to The male dogs are kept in the same abhorrent conditions. There were 5, 6 or 7 dogs to a pen, a couple of males and the rest females. All different breeds, separated only by size. So they have NO clue which dog fathers what bitches litter. I suppose they take an educated guess when they're born. The guy "looking after" the place (and all he was really looking after was his beer) said his own dog (a cavalier X) was pregnant. I asked what the father was and he said "oh...I dunno". Well, I sure as hell hope it wasn't one of the deformed labs I saw there. Or a Goldie. Or a boxer. Or anything that much larger. All the outside pen dogs had a three sided, tin shanty for shelter. No bedding. The dogs "inside" were in open sided iron sheds. This place reaches temperatures of 45+ in high summer! They had some food. No water. Pens were FILLED with waste. But the most heart breaking thing was the dogs all clamouring for attention, desperate to get a pat. I had tears in my eyes as I tried to pat EVERY SINGLE DOG. I cried the whole 2+ hour trip home. I used to think perhaps the farms flew just under the radar to keep away from the notice of the RSPCA. However, I now have a more cynical view. After what I saw there, that was NOT under the radar. I think they're getting paid. -
Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)

It's the charger thing to plug into the wall lol. It's an Asus A9RP (I think). Am not at home to check at the moment, but I think that's what it was. I'll check when I get home and if any different, will leave a message here. -
Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)
Ker replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Just checked. All good, still works fine. It's an Asus, not an Acer. Older machine, not so pretty, but works GREAT. Has a DVD writer and all. It's been kicking around here in a box for a while. I just need to pull a LOT of crap off it and it's yours. Gimme a couple of days to do that and to track down a new charger thingie (very technical there). I wasn't sure what to do with it and was going to let the kids use it, but they have a desktop. PM me an address where it's to go to in a couple of days -
Gretel, she is beautiful...where is she from?

Jed, I wanted to PM you, but your box was full. I just read that your laptop finally gave up the ghost. I have an older one here that isn't being used. It's an Acer and although old, is still good. All it needs is a battery pack and I can organise that. I also need to pull crap off it. But, I can check it and see if it still works. If it does, it's yours if you want it? -
A Big Thumbs Up To Pets Universe, Northgate, Sa
Ker replied to Ker's topic in General Dog Discussion
Here is their web page http://www.petuniverse.com.au/ They are on the corner of Folland and Fosters Rd, Northgate. They also have another clinic at Broadview (about 10 mins from there). Mum takes her dogs there and the dogs LOVE them. Sophie tells the vet "Herro!" -
My mum called me regarding a dog that needed a new home (that's surprising in itself ). Her vet was asking her where she got her Sophie from, and mum told her about rescue. Her vet had a client bring in his badly injured, unconscious Sibe. Dakotah was 2 years old and was attacked viciously by the owners other dog. The vet started to work on him and more and more things needed to be done. The owners said that they couldn't afford more treatment and they would have to euth him. The vet, Irena and a vet nurse, Bronwyn, suggested they surrender Dakotah to them and they would continue the work, rehabilitate him and adopt him out. That's where I come in. They wanted my help to rehome him. I went yesterday to take photos of Dakotah. Beautiful boy. He was enchanted by my daughter and not all that interested in the kittens up for adoption in the waiting room. VERY strong dog, typical Sibe. He is still injured and won't be ready to go to a new home for a few weeks yet. As it turns out, Bronwyn found him a new home through Husky Rescue so didn't need my help. But were it not for her and the vet, Irena, Dakotah wouldn't be here at all. They spent their own time, and money, fixing him up and rehabilitating him. Irena took him home every night with her and brought him to work with her daily. So a BIG ;) and to Pets Universe, Northgate, for going above and beyond the call to help an animal in need.

I did big time research after discovering them. DON'T DO IT!!! They'll make you want one MORE!

No! That would be a very mean thing to tell me! I actually wanted one like your colour...or a blue or blue domino...but Blondie is stunning!!! Is she show quality or pet?

Cocker Spaniel Vs Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Ker replied to allie181's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've had 4 Cocker fosters...and I LOVE them! I had one English and 3 americam, and while I liked the look of the American better, the english was FAR easier to groom. I did clip him, but it was really simple. He was easy to bath, brush and clip. I still miss him I'd go a cocker. -
I would keep on at her...gently. Or send her to the rescue pages on DOL and make her look at the photos of the dogs in the pound. Yes, there are Belgians in there as well. It kills me that I can't get every dog out. Maybe she should think about the ones that are already dying for a home before bringing more into an already overpopulated world. EFS

Ack! Sorry for mixing the dogs up!!
-
Argh why do you do this to me??? I so badly want a lappie!
-
Hmm...not sure I could come up with 10...cats I can, but not sure about dogs. 1. Lappie (the next dog I want). 2. Alaskan Malamute (dog I always wanted but will never own). 3. Samoyed (a recent addition, thanks to the Spitz Breed show!) 4. Cocker Spaniel (have fostered 4 and I love them). 5. Cavalier (a MAYBE...was my fave breed till I found lappies). 6. Golden Retriever. I think that's about it.

Of course you can! That's his name, Pokey! I knew he was a foster, just totally forgot his name.
