  1. I am interested, was your dog fearful and fight or fearful and run away, my boy turns to kujo and where did you get the calm collar, can you tell me more about please
  2. Thank all for your thoughts and comments, yes i agree it is a long hard road, i am awaiting a return phone call from my vet to c what their thoughts are aswell. We have made progress and hopefully continue to do so.I am not willing to give up on him and will continue to do whats best for him, i would appreciate more comments and suggestions on this topic
  3. I havent asked yet, it was just a thought and i was going to ask my vet as well. Because he seems defensive,i thought it might just help give him alittle more nerve and maybe lessen his fast reaction, i want to do whatever i can to help him succeed
  4. Hi,i have a 1.5 gsd with fear aggression toward other dogs, has anyone ever used anxiety meds to help with training. We are seeking help from a behaviourist and wondered whether adding something like this to the program may help.
  5. Thanks for your opinions, i have looked into the brand suggested by Nekbet and i like the sound of those. I have managed to locate a store close by that stocks it which is great.I have also emailled my breeder asking for her suggestiion and she has said change as well, so just waing on reply on food brands from her. Thanks again eveyone who gave me input i has definatly help my decision and now i think i will take MORE of my breeders suggestion as well as look for a back up vet.
  6. hi centiout, what breed do you have?
  7. Thanks for all your advise, i have decide after some more exploring that i will change him to adult food, ideally what % would i be looking at for protien, i was recently advise to try super coat , anyones view is welcome please. As for not believing the breeder that was certainly not the case in fact in their diet sheet it was stated to use puppy food but then verbally suggested maybe adult if we wanted to slow growth. When you are unfamiliar with the rapidness of the growth and looking at an 8 week old puppy ,i think most people would choose a puppy food , assuming they were doing the right thing, and the last thing we wanted to do is cause our puppy harm. I am sure it must be quite frustrating if you are a breeder to hear these problems relating to diet but please understand that you ( a human) go to the doctor if you are sick, so you would take your pet to the vet and assume that their advise was correct. i appreciate ALL your views and please keep them comin
  8. Thanks, i have read it and yes lots of info there, but i am still interested on view of switching to adult food, has anyone done this or would it hurt him to do this if he is extremely large
  9. He has been limping for about 1.5 to 2 weeks and it is very on and off., no i dont think i have read the thread, but will definitley do so. I would be interested in trying the adult food that someone suggested , but will that be ok. That was something we were told to do the day we got him by the breeder, but when you go for a vet visit they tell you "no" that they need to be on puppy food, so you get alot of conflicting advise from ALL the people how have knowledge in the doggy word, It makes it hard to know who to believe and i hope that his limping has nothing to do with our desicion to feeed on puppy as suggested by the vet.
  10. when would you change to adult though as some people are telling me to do it now, is that right?
  11. One minute it looks like the right back and the next time it looks like the left back. We have checked his pads and nails and all of them seem ok.
  12. Hey Every one, Just wanting some opinions on my pup. He is 8 months old and already 37kgs, he is not over weight but extremely large. I have noticed he has a slight limp every now and then only recently and i am wondering could or do dogs get growing pains. To my knowledge he hasn't injured himself but he does play rough with my girl. We have limited his access to all stairs by put in gates so i now that he has only supervised access to them when we are at home. I have already recieved a few opinions on what i should be feeding and i am feeding on Iams large breed puppy. My confusion comes in on whether to feed puppy food or adult and can some advise on the correct ratios of fat etc i need to be looking at. Also has anyone ever had a similar problem and what was the outcome?. I purchased him from an extremely reputable breeder and have all hip and elbow score from parents. Please advise as i dont want to do the wrong thing and will adult food harm him before he reaches maturity : :
  13. Hi there, Just wondering if someone could offer advise. My girl ( GSD) has not long being diagnosed with h/d.She has been on joint guard but when i went to get more the store was out of stock so i got a product called pernaease powder, which the girl said was the same stuff.Does anyone know if it is the same or will have the same effect as i dont want my girl to be missing out on what she need to keep pain free
  14. Hi everyone, once again thanks for all your input.I did some research and thought i might try the vets all natural mix.I fed it to her lastnight with some roo meat and even though it took a while she didnt turn her nose up (success) Im beginning to wounder whether it was the dry all along but it's only been one day and atleast with this food its all natural, and i will simply have to incorporate more bones to her siert if this is successful.I also brought some megaderm omega supplement so hopefully shell thrive and her skin wont itch as much
  15. Has anyone every tried Vets All Natural mix,and if so how did you find it
  16. hi everyone,Thanks for your replys. The vet to date has suggested that they are seasonal and when it's hot the allergies intesify,She knaws at the side and base of her body and growls whilst trying to relieve the itch ,the skin around the underneath of her paws are also slighty irritated and pink in colour. We have done skin scrapings for mites ect but all okNo other test have been done as the vet feels she may grow out of them as she is almost 2.Her treatment meds were Macralone and neocourt cream .As for the diet i would know if its food allergy or not i just anticipated it may be better for her to have some hypo allergenic foodand maybe that would help aswell.I have noticed her knawing alittle more since giving the red meat and she relly isnt keen to eat it at all.I like to give somthing with the dry otherwise she wont eat it . would c/necks or carcasses be a better option or how do i just get her to eat .Does she need to have dry? home cooked meals i would also like to offer but i dont know the ratio's of everything she needs to make it good for her and are supplements necessary
  17. Hi can anyone offer advise on dry foods that are safe for dogs with seasonal allergies. My 2 yr old gsd is extremely fussy. She has got allergies and doesnt seem to be keen on red meats so i give her sardines with dry,but because she's not keen on alot of dry food im finding it hard to get her to eat much. She has never been a dog that is easy to feed so i spend alot of time and MONEY only then to donate the food to someone else.I am interested in these natural dry foods but dont know where to start and who makes them.Any advise
