  1. I am trying to find the Queensland website I bought my Mars Coat King rake from. A friend has just tried my rake on her BCs and is amazed by it. I have google and googled but it's not my friend today Would anyone here know the website? Or indeed know of a supplier? Thank you
  2. Nice to hear things seem to be progressing well How often does one get so excited about poo huh?!
  3. Here you go: http://www.pookinuk.com.au/pet-products.as...CFREspAodBkFKZQ
  4. Fussy little bugger!!! She'll have to learn to recognise quality when she sees it! I'll find out the name of the website for you and get back to you.
  5. I often feed Orijen as treats. I ordered it from a Doler here - the link is in the Orijen thread. She only charges $5 postage/courier so it doesn't work out too expensive at all. The other treat I use a lot is Ziwipeak dog food which is $28 a kilo but because the pieces are so small, they go a very long way and it is actually a cheap way of buying dog treats. You can get this ordered in from Better Pets and Gardens. I don't use nor would recommend either of these treats for an hour long training session (ie Obedience or Agilty), I would stick to a more moist food.
  6. The club where June goes (sorry, belgian.blue  ) actually suggest a slightly more moist food rather than dry food/treats. I think Dave suggested Clinkers or Clunkers or something (?) to me? They were quite good - cut in half or quartered..... But then I used to run around with half a BBQ chicken in my treat pouch (boy I was popular with the others dogs!) and wouldn't bother feeding my dog first before training - and oh boy did I have his attention! LOL!! I always used to take a damp flannel (face washer) in a plastic bag with me as well as I hated having icky fingers *screws up face*
  7. Suz, if your friend is a good friend, she will surely realise your anxiousness and want to help you rather than be offended that you have chosen to go down a more extended path than she recommends. I would also send the bloods to the States, specifically to Jean's clinic as she has suggested, as that's where all the new info is coming from - you will have the most accurate results from there, no offence to any vet or staff in Australia. $250 odd is not so much in the scheme of things considering how many more vet appointments and treatments etc that you may go through to accurately have Benson diagnosed regardless if you don't go ahead with this more extensive blood test. Good luck with speaking to your friend, I know you are treading very carefully but keep Benson in mind as well - he's the one who lives with you and is in discomfort, not your vet friend
  8. Your idea of letting the dog miss meals is out of touch. The breeder of Bella, our puppy with rd suggested the same. She would be dead if I had not investigated why she was so fussy and was vomiting so much.It took a caring vet who sent me to the specialist centre to uncover the cause, after seeing 2 others vets who suggested that she was just fussy and was going to be a lean dog.Thank god I trusted my instinct that something was very wrong with my darling Bella Settle Petal! The OP's dog threw up ONCE after it ate a new type of food. My dog has done this when given roo meat as well. No big deal. Lots of dogs will vomit if they eat too quickly, or if they scoff their food because it's not worth chewing (eg roo mince). Sounds like your situation with Bella was quite different and ongoing, not just a once off event. Glad you have her sorted now.
  9. Do a search for Pumpkin, you'll find quite a few weightloss threads. Go slow, coz they got fat slow obviously if you didn't notice the weight. And just increase the amount of exercise a little as well.
  10. RIP Gladys. Go give Collie some hugs Pers, sounds like you both need some :D
  11. I might just give that a go. So do they get two meat meals a day? i.e. meaty bone in the morn and chicken frame at night? Or just one meat meal and the other a mixture meal with some tuna/sardines egg and vegie mix? Seriously, it's whatever comes out of the freezer first. Yes, two meals a day. Often it's a large chicken frame for breakfast AND dinner (ie a whole one each meal) and when I remember there's eggs or youhurt, I'll make up a meal of maybe an egg and a tin of sardines, or egg and yoghurt, or leftover veges and yoghurt, or leftovers and an egg. As long as there is no less than the equivalent of a cup of food, I know the dog won't go hungry. Veges, eggs, yoghurt, sardines, offal etc probably make up 10 to 20% of my dogs diet - the rest is chicken frames, sheeps' necks, roo tails, lamb flaps - just whatever I can get my hands on at shopping time. Just have a play around with it and see what works best for you and your dog.
  12. I'm no expert either but am inclined to think if your goldie did better on Barf, then try something along similar lines. I tend to feed a prey model diet rather than BARF because I find it time consuming and mind boggling making barf patties and making sure I have 'the right balance'. I have done a lot of reading and am confident what I give my goldie is perfectly fine for him, it's cheap for me and little or no preparation. I don't stop and think what should he have today, I just grab whatever comes out of the freezer first. So, it's meaty bones, roo meat, lots of chicken frames (probably 70% of his diet), leftovers from dinner eg lots of roast pumpkin etc. Yoghurt, sardines, eggs get fed when I remember - but usually once or twice a week. I'm busy so my goldie has to fit into my lifestyle and as long as you have a freezer, it works brilliantly, plus he is very healthy and he gets variety. I also feed Orijien kibble when I run out of meat/bones. (Have also used Bonnie Light which was fine occasionally) and Ziwipeak food gets used for treats. I don't see any harm in kibble occasionally as long as it doesn't affect him adversely. Sometimes people get a bit caught up in what to feed and how much. If my boy starts to put on weight, I just ease off on the size of his meals (always twice daily). Observing your dog and what he does best on and how much, should be the way to go.
  13. When I got my second dog (he was 6 months old), the vet insisted on doing a heartworm test before giving the C5. I know better than to ever look at C5s again now - but just went along with what the vet said at the time as they said ANY heartworm prevention was dangerous if your dog had already been infected. What does a heartworm test cost generally - does anyone know? I can't remember 'coz the dog at the time was a rescue and all the vacs came included in his 'package'. AF The "C5" vaccination has nothing to do with heartworm, so I'm not sure what, how or why your Vet made any correlation or mention of one bearing significance to each other. :nahnah: :nahnah: Laughing at myself! Sorry, I was naughty and posting hurriedly when at work while someone was talking to me. When I got my dog from the pound, at the time he was getting his C5, the vet also gave him an annual shot for heartworm - but they tested him first as they said it would be dangerous for him to have the shot if he already had heartworm. Sorry for the confusion (just keeping you on your toes Erny!)

  15. Ears, both doggy and human have a very good blood supply, hence the reason you encountered so much blood no doubt. You should be able to claim on your insurance but it seems the injury didn't warrant a visit to the vet? I'd be keeping an eye on the ear to make sure no infection occurs.
  16. If you haven't discussed Creon with your vet, I wouldn't be giving it to your dog. Go see the specialist! I have no idea how much it would cost but how much do you love your dog? Just do it and decide from there what you want to do. You could do more harm than good giving a human med to a dog without discussing it with your vet. You are likely to find that a specialist will be less expensive long term than your dog having adverse reactions to a medication. Please don't go buying the stuff, just see the specialist the vet has referred you to and take it from there.
  17. No, you don't need a prescription for that website I provided, only if you want to buy Creon Forte. You do have to create a profile though and supply a Medicare number etc. But after having a read, it sounds like your vet is better off prescribing it anyway. Is there a reason you can't get it from your vet? Have you tried looking for any natural alternatives to Creon? I don't have any experience with EPI so can't share any insight sorry. It must be quite distressing seeing your dog fade like that.
  18. Hi Steve Welcome to DOL! I googled Creon and found this which might be useful: https://www.epharmacy.com.au/product.asp?id...00+Capsules+100 So I take it you have a very thin Amstaff right now with a pancreatic disorder? Do you want to tell us what else you have tried? There's lots of experienced people here who may have other suggestions you might be interested in.
  19. Ah, yes - she is absolutely worth travelling for!!!
  20. I have been wondering how things were going with your two - hope they both feel better very soon Keep up the honey in the water too (or even a teaspoon directly into their mouths)
  21. Big hugs to you Ruffles, it must be so difficult for you right now but you did the right thing by Cujo.
  22. Better Pets and Gardens often have promotional info brochures on RC. I feed the kitten formula to my Main Coone kitty and the other cat thinks it's Xmas too!
  23. I would discourage my dog from eating sprayed flies - sprayed with a poisonous chemical, - and ingested frequently by your dog:( Why don't you teach the dog to 'leave'? Otherwise get some flyscreens for your windows?
