  1. It was my weekend project, couldn't afford the ones I saw on the internet so decided to give it a try and that way I could make it look more like Jenna (that's why it has the two white spots on the back of the neck).Googled on the internet to see how they did it and what I needed and then went from there, I am quiet happy with my first attempt but I can see plenty of room for improvement with my next one. Yes it is felting, mind you I broke 10 needles the first night so went out and bought a whole pile more and have only broken one since, so I'm getting the idea. Gizmo is my next project, had trouble finding the little noses and eyes and then when I found them the lady in the shop gave them to me for free, not just one set, I think I had about 10 or more sets, it was so nice of her. Now I know they are the right size might have to go back and get the rest as they were a good price even paying for them. Size wise its about the size of a CD case. I had no idea you were so talented! You've been hiding your light under a bushel??!! For a first attempt, you have done really really well! Can't wait to see Giz's
  2. OK, so don't buy a snooza bed then! But mine has been great with a 32 kilo dog using it for almost 2 years now. That's money well spent.
  3. Ozjen!!! Who made that for you? Very clever!! Is that felt work? How big is he/she and does it have a name?!! I think we should have a pic of Giz next to 'it'
  4. I think you'll be fine as long as you have a GPS. And LAYERING your clothes will keep you warm as well as wearing a hat. I used to go on fishing and camping trips years ago, but that was in NZ, I'm too afraid of big spiders and snakes here
  5. Snooza beds are good. There's different thicknesses, and they aren't loose filled so don't go flat or lumpy.
  6. I can't do overnighters but if it's a fine weekend I might try and do a day trip. Is this the long weekend? Ie the first weekend in June? That might be a bit close - a little more than a week away? It's less than 2 weeks away, so not this coming weekend but the next. I am most likely heading down Friday arvo or early Sat mornng and coming back Sunday sometime. Sheesh, where do the weeks go?! You're a brave lady doing an overnighter, I kinda like the comforts of home
  7. Wow! Beautiful beaches! I didn't know Scotland had such beautiful beaches! I lived there for 6 months (at Balmoral Castle which is in Aberdeenshire from memory?) and it rained every day without fail - it was supposed to be summer Having to share beaches and parks here just means your dogs will become well socialised  To be honest, I don't think I have seen more than one tiff between dogs and I go to lots of doggy places. Sure there are some less responsible people around but as long as you are sensible, you can usually let your dogs have a free run somewhere. Riverside Gardens is lovely for off leash, Lake Monger is great for onleash and there's heaps of other places .... Yokine Reserve is nice too. Welcoome to Perth anyway! You'll have to keep an eye on the social thread and come to a DOL meet

  9. Ozjen, it sounds like you had a fabulous time!! I think I have to get to a retrieving session sometime seeing as it's such a great spectator sport. Maybe something I might be interested in when I get my puppy ....... *daydreams of puppies being born*
  10. I see I'm too late for those chicken and camembert pies :D Oh well, hot soup and bread is healthier *Picks Dizzy up from a chair and lets him snuggle on my lap while sipping soup* Edit: That was a bad idea, Dizzy is trying to eat my soup and bread! Don't you feed him TSD?!
  11. Sounds like everyone got a bit of a fright! Glad everyone is OK though
  12. I have the back seats down so the whole of the back of the car is a doggy area. I have tried using the back seat only and the cargo only and keeping the dog hair to a specific area but when you turn on the aircon and have dog hair blowing out of the vents, well, I give up!
  13. That's retty good service for them to bag it all for you! I wonder this too but with ANY pet meat you buy. I used to buy the mince but the dogs would just inhale it whereas it takes 5 to 10 minutes to properly chew through a whole chicken frame - and the chewing is so good for their teeth (rubbery chicken bones work like dental floss) so I stick with the whole frames these days.
  14. Fabulous news eta I'm not a big fan of pizza but those homemade ones are delicious!!! I'll need the recipe please
  15. No a crate is not absolutely essential, a pen will be perfect. My 32kg dog was just confined to two rooms for 6 weeks and only went outside on lead for toilet trips. If you do a search here for 'cruciate', you will come up with lots of threads and great information. Good luck with the op, and let us know how you go.
  16. No, apple pips apparently have cynanide in them so they shouldn't eat a lot of apple pips, but I often give a chopped apple to my boy and have done for a few years now, he's as healthy as a Malley Bull!
  17. My gosh, look at the size of those sofas! The rolled arms are so comfy too! Doggy friendly sofas also I see, with Bilbo Baggins crew hanging out with the rest of us. I think one of them might have dropped something though. *waves hand in air* Backgammon fanatic here. I'll join you. Glad to hear of a small improvement today Jed, take whatever time you need, we have a quite a comfy spot here to wait for you.
  18. *Puts flowers on the waiting room table because they aren't allowed in ICU*
  19. Fantastic! Thank you, you have made my day! I have seen it used in hospitals on ulcers as well, it really is brilliant stuff, everyone should have some in their first aid kit. I even tried it on a hotspot a few times. It's great as long as the dog can't reach the hotspot to lick the yummy honey off
  20. That's the point Golden Rules: I have six dogs Oooooh, I see! It's like you forgot to put both your shoes on then!
  21. How are you to take it? Get yourself a few more dogs silly!!
  22. Apparently Jarrah honey has similar qualities. Anne, Manuka Honey has excellent anti-bacterial qualities and is a good immune system booster. Medicinal grade (15 UMF and higher) honey is great for sore throats, cuts and wounds. It has been used with great effect on burns and because it coats a would with a antibacterial, moisture retaining skin, is helpful for preventing scarring. I have a tube of 50 UMF Medihoney that I use the same way folk would use Savlon and other wound creams. I must look out for some Jarrah Honey then! I am just about out of the jar of Manuka Honey that a very kind Doler sent me from the Eastern States (yes norty) and it is such a handy and effective item to have in the cupboard.
  23. Continued healing thoughts and wishes here. Take all the time you need Jed, we'll all be here waiting for you.
  24. That's a really good price There is a difference between the two - google and you shall see :D I'm so peeved we aren't allowed it here in WA
