  1. Whoo Hoo! Party time! It's not that far away at all, only 4 weeks ..... or 5 I'll pull my finger out this time and make some doggy treats :p
  2. I was looking at getting one of these, would they be ok to use on a pup? (pup being 6 month old Lexi) or should I wait until she more grown before using one on her? Can't see a problem there but maybe don't put anything too heavy in the saddle bags for example water - I have two small bottles and put one in each side but my dog is a tall 32kg.
  3. I have a BLACK DOG BACK PACK in a purple colour. I put doggy poo bags in there, toys, balls, small bottles of water, spare lead, my keys ...... anything I don't want to carry basically This one is a large size and wasn't expensive from memory.
  4. See, just goes to show you can teach an old dog new tricks - even if unintentional
  5. It would be lovely for Coco I'm sure to have lots of one on one attention from a retired owner I'll keep my fingers crossed for the best outcome for Coco
  6. Hey Jed!! Welcome back to DOL! ;) Glad you are making good progress - slowly but surely We have been pigging out in the virtual waiting room, and I even brought in some fresh cinnamon rolls this morning for everyone. You can have anything in this room - anything at all that takes your fancy! Off to burn off some calories now. :D
  7. My best piece of advice is to not breed unregistered dogs without health checks/tests and then sell off unpapered puppies for $800 a piece That equals Back Yard Breeding
  8. I haven't read every post (in a rush and at work!) so not sure if this has been mentioned before, but the odd dose of anti inflammatories when you think it's required is not an ideal way to treat a dog with obvious ongoing pain. His good days, he may still be in pain but because dogs are so stoic, you'd never know - and it's the days when he's screaming, you know he's reached his limit. Anyway, my suggestion through my experience is to have the dog on a daily dose of whatever anti inflammatories you have and continue on with your other treatments/therapies as well. I would also recommend acupuncture as this is a good way to strengthen the muscles which support the joints. My dog is pretty much a normal dog these days (HD and cruciates) but if we go a few days without his anti inflammatories, he slows right down and starts to limp. Good luck with the fella, he's lucky he landed on his feet in your household!
  9. for Astro Hope everything turns out OK.
  10. Gorgeous dogs, and gorgeous photos! How on earth did you get them on the back of a truck?! They look so big and heavy, too big and heavy to jump so far! ;) Have never met a Boerboel but would be very pleased to. They look just lovely
  11. Where is the Razor burn CBR? The reason I ask is Dougal had it on his front leg where they put the canula in but it was actually burn from the anaesthetic going in (a bit leaked which is apparently common). Anyway, I have a wonderful soothing cream I used which sorted it in no time (from NZ) but as I can't get it to you without difficulty, I would suggest you use some paw paw ointment, or some Jarrah honey (the latter is likely to be licked off but it will depend on where the burn is). Sounds like you are going to have to have Lincoln on lead inside!
  12. :D Are you having trouble 'containing' him? Just don't leave any butterflies around. He is in his crate so not too much trouble. Don't know how I am supposed to keep him contained for 3 weeks though! You will be surprised at how he will adapt. That's whats so good about dogs, they are generally very adapatable! I wondered how I was going to keep my big boofa contained for 6 weeks post cruciate op - it wasn't as bad as I expected Some gentle onlead wanders around the garden so he can have a sniff will be as good as anything for Lincoln.
  13. Excellent news goldchow! Thank you for letting us know. *surreptitiously pours a scotch and dry before settling with some furries*

  15. That's so gorgeous!! ;) :D Now if you had caught that on a video camera and uploaded it to youtube, you'd have an absolute hit worldwide!!
  16. Awww, good to hear you had a nice visit with Lincoln. :D Chasing butterflies indeed ;) I couldn't agree with you more about pet insurance. I almost had to take out a second mortgage with Hamish. Learnt my lesson there and have insured every dog since. Dougal has had many thousands of dollars worth of treatment with both cruciates done (one twice) and his hip dysplasia. Pet insurance allowed me not to think twice about any of it. My next puppy will hopefully be ultra healthy!
  17. Glad to hear he came through surgery OK and is on the road to recovery. Continued healing vibes for wee Lincoln. :D
  18. Yes indeed, hopefully none of us need to end up there. I'll look forward to good news about Lincoln
  19. The vet handed me the contents of Lexis stomach and intestines in a plastic bag - three big orange berries and a pile of grass. It went straight in the bin Let us know the updates when you get them Gee, how can those berries cause a blockage? I have an awful Cocos palm at my place but it's out the front where the dog isn't allowed off lead so he will never eat one but I'm surprised they can cause a blockage! A toller died a couple of months ago in Perth from a blockage caused by these berries - they are like lollies to the dogs :D That's awful I'm just surprised they can cause a blockage.

  21. Yep, but who cares hey?! :D I will when is being a terror and I realise how much in show entry fees I have wasted. (Fingers crossed) Amypie there are sort of emergency vets out my way but they are normally on call and don't answer the phone or try fobb you off. Murdoch is also the only one I know of that is manned 24/7. Shame you can't claim those show entry fees on the insurance hey?!! Balcatta are actually very good, and yes they are 24 hour, not on call. I have had a dog die there, and they were just brilliant. I was out the back where all the sick animals were and I can't speak highly enough of them.
  22. Yes, Balcatta is the other 24 hour vet NOR and there is also one at Beeliar for those really SOR. Murdoch is kinda in the middle.
