I guess that makes sense Danois. I haven't really had too much experience with health insurance previously (I have a family member in medicine who has helped me!) so it didn't click. Although I might be an 'idealist' to say this, I do think it'd be nice if they calculated your pet's "last" year on a pro-rata basis... seems a little more socially conscious to me. Why should they be more socially conscious? Insurance is a business. It is reasonable they get a full year premium especially if you have claimed. Pet insurance is not alone in the requirement to pay the full premium year. I had a different experience a couple of years ago when I lost a dog. I had already paid the full premium in advance, and I got a refund when I called to tell them to cancel the policy. eta - the refund was for the remainder of the policy, and I had not made any claims that year.

I bet that's not the first time something like that has happened. I often see people letting their dogs run around the carpark, it's obvious what will happen one day ....

Which beach was it?? Careful of the sharks

It's well known there are bull sharks in the river, also dolphins. I have never seen any sharks or heard of any incidences with sharks where we swim the dogs (well known and very popular off leash dog area) but I have often seen the dolphins.

Did you get them from somewhere different? Are the bigger carcasses? Were they fattier than usual? Did your dog wolf them down faster than usual? Does he have any issues with any other kind of bones or fresh meat?

Herdsman Lake is across the road from where I work, we have a personal trainer who comes in and takes anyone who is interested for a walk around the lake. They often see snakes! (I never go because only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun )

Joelle, they don't have to let you know if they are putting down poison It would be courteous if they did!!! But they aren't under any obligation. ;) I lost a young Goldie to 1080 poison almost 3 years ago now ..... I cried everyday for about 6 months! The one thing that really helped me with that grief was another dog. Took me more than 2 years to get that dog mind you! But it's amazing the healing powers of a cold wet nose in your face :cool:

I presume Mason wouldn't be allergic to Venison then? I got a couple for my dogs, they both will eat one of them, but there must be something wrong with the other one because neither will touch it. That was a waste of $20 odd!

And another veteran of 2 ACLs here, on my Golden. He had the De Angelis method each time. He is a big Goldie and I was hesitant about the type of op after doing some research but my vet was confident, and more than 2 years on, he doesn't even limp anymore. He is not allowed to jump up anymore though and his exercise is walking, trotting and swimming. No chasing balls etc and no jumping other than onto the sofa which isn't high. There was a Yahoo group (ortho dogs or something) which was a fabulous resource with loads of support. Best of luck with your girl!

Yes. The demo started yesterday and they were so excited, they decided to drive past today to check on the progress, and said there were police teaming everywhere! Drama at my work today ..... one of our clients demo was taking place so we could build and as the demo guy was knocking down the house, a body/remains was found. Feel sorry for the clients ... not sure I'd want to build a new house on that site!
