Jessie Has Had Her Operation :)

thanks so much for the update ... so glad she is doing so well! -
Lokelani .. I think going to look yourself is an extremely good idea, everyone has different opinions on what will work. My two are from rescue, will try and escape if given the opportunity and can be reactive sometimes. they spent two weeks in Best Friend during January and I was very happy with their condition on my return. Putting them in kennels is not ideal but I was going overseas and wanted the comfort of knowing they were contained and safe. So this option worked for me. But in an ideal world I would take them with me! Please do let us know how you go i'm really interested ..

Hi Lokelani During the last ten years I used Tara annually up until a couple of years ago when I believe they changed hands. I would not recommend them now. I haven't tried Hall but I have used best friend pet centre in MacGregor and I'm comfortable recommending them. My two dogs can be housed together but must be separated to be fed and they followed these instructions. If you do end up using Hall I would be very interested to hear how it goes.

Jessie Has Had Her Operation :)
manlynau replied to JessLovesGreyhounds's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I don't have the experience to comment on whether the operation is a good or bad idea, but I love greys and like to try and help rescue with donations when I can. I too thought it might be a scan, so I checked with the vet .. He replied as follows: .... "I can confirm that we are planning to do surgery on Jessie for her leg once we have enough funds raised. I am the surgery specialist that will be performing the surgery. Feel free to use the website you have for donation if you'd like. Or, if you'd rather donate the money to our hospital directly, you can contact (removed because I haven't asked the person's permission to post their name and email but happy to PM details to anyone). Thank you for helping Jessie! She is a great dog!"... Like I have with some other needy dogs I will be sending a donation.. -

I've always found Pookinuk to be very good, my orders are delivered very quickly, the postage is cheap and the cost per bag is competitive. i'm glad to see they have responded to people’s concerns!

thanks guys ... i'm sure he is chasing his ball no longer in pain ...

Sadly our old man Zac was given his wings late last week. Life for him wasn't easy anymore and we couldn't let him suffer in pain. All of the family is missing him but we are trying to focus on the many wonderful memories we have.

i buy from pookinuk too .. fast, friendly and delivery is always very quick.

I have two rescue dogs, I got both as adults and they both are pullers to the extreme. I tried everything available on the market, sporn, headcollar etc etc and found they worked a little bit but not enough for me to be comfortable walking them together. After researching on this forum i started training them with the walk in circles method, I walk and when they get ahead of my leg I abruptly turn inwards and walk back the way I came. I'm sure the locals in my street think i'm crazy. hope that makes sense .. and even though i was extremely sceptical it actual does work! i tend to keep it very low level, not over the top praise and I can walk both of mine together without my arm being pulled off.

It would also be a no from me. I agree with the others, its difficult enough for my dogs to adjust to having a stranger in the house but to then add another dog would be asking for issues.

poor thing, hope he is ok ..

Poll- How Many Dogs And If You Work Full Time
manlynau replied to jazawayaya's topic in General Dog Discussion
I work full time, my OH works school hours but moves around so often calls home for lunch etc. House full of teenages so often someone home during the day. I walk the two small ones once a day, old man Zac when he feels like it which might be once a week. Dogs are outside during the day, inside at night. -
Bandit doesn't like cats and will bark and growl if there are any on the TV... last night Better Homes and Gardens had a segment on kittens, Bandit wouldn't shut up he kept growling..

It never ceases to amaze me what people do in cars. The poor dog I really hope it is ok, only takes a second for an accident to happen.

What Is Your Worming/flea Control Regime!?
manlynau replied to Flick_Mac's topic in General Dog Discussion
Annual heartworm injection, worming every few months, tablet from the vet sorry can't remember the name. No ticks or fleas here .. I think it might be too cold! -
I walk my two together, i've spent a lot of time teaching them to walk beside me. Otherwise they compete to be in front and I end up with a very sore arm.
