  1. Great pics. Is it wrong to laugh at them running in front of the lure?
  2. That's good news about her BSL. Our old cat Perrin is diabetic so hopefully it is just a slight hiccup for Emma and nothing too serious. I really feel for you.
  3. I wouldn't even consider taking my dog to a cafe.
  4. I know next to nothing about fox hunting so had a quick Google and on Wiki it says "that the animal rarely endures hours of torment and pursuit by hounds, and research by Oxford University shows that the fox is normally killed after only an average of 17 minutes of chase" I wonder if that is true or not. Oxford is known for putting out false study information, so do not believe a word they say. LOL I think the concern is wikipedia, the citation given was a BBC news article. Google Scholar might turn something up if anyone wants to verify the source. I think this is the article referred to http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/418681.stm I wonder what the statistics for injury to horse and hound are.

  6. But isn't that how animals in the wild live anyway. You only have to watch a documentary to see an animal bring down it's prey and then tear it to shreds. And no i am not saying that that makes fox hunting alright. I don't know enough about fox hunting to make an informed decision.
  7. That's one thing i hate about cats. They are so sneeky and are easily closed in places they shouldn't be.
  8. But dont most non shedding breeds require more rather than less grooming? Exactly! I guess that's my point about unrealistic expectations. Yes but does the average person realise this? If you type non shedding dogs australia into Google the average person would find oodle after oodle. And the problem with purebred non shedding breeds other than poodles is that they are hard to come by. Not many breeders and not many litters. In my opinion breeders of non shedding or low shedding breeds need to get together and market their breeds to the public.
  9. Yup my mare was like this recently. My foal was looking lovely and healthy but she was getting thinner and thinner even though she was having 4 hard feeds a day plus hay ad lib. In the end on the advice of the vet i weaned early. My mare is just starting to pick up now and fill out. However i am a chicken too and probably wouldn't approach the neighbours for fear of getting abused. Can you just keep and eye on the dog to see if it gets better?
  10. I think it is a great idea and definitely worth a shot at improving. If they try it and it fails then at least they have given it a go.
  11. We have a FnF as well. I've only been in there twice and can't remember them actually having kittens or puppies although there used to be an ad on tv saying they sold them.. It's a tiny store so i have no idea how they could fit them in anyway. The first time i went in i was looking for something that they didn't stock and the second time it was to look at their fish. I nearly puked at the state of their fighters in tiny containers with filthy water. There was so many of them stacked along half dead. It was depressing. I wanted to buy them all and take them home but obviously that just can't happen as i have no where for them to go.
  12. I understand what you are saying Kali but the abuse of greyhounds extends across all dog ownership. It's not just a greyhound problem. After seeing first hand how those AR people lie for their own agenda i prefer to see things in person and find out facts for myself. I have no problem with greyhound racing or horse racing as long as animals are treated humanely. And i would have no problem with horses or canines being being used for meat. After all people have to eat and food is expensive. However i digress. People need to do their own research and not believe everything that is trotted out in front of them by AR.
  13. This happened to me when we found a cat just last year. The RSPCA were full and were experiencing cat flu at the time and i was advised i could keep the cat at home or it could come in to the pound and would most probably end up being pts as the cat had some serious problems and needed medical attention. We ended up keeping the cat at home but leaving our details with them and the vet clinics around the area. We had her vaccinated by our vet and she received medical attention. We put up posters all over town but no one came forward for ages. She was unchipped but long story short we ended up tracking down a previous owner who admitted they had at one stage owned the cat but it had gone missing and showed me a picture that was definitely her. They didn't want her anymore and told me i could have her. RSPCA advised if they gave her to me i could keep her which we did. We had her desexed and micro chipped to us and one year later she is now a happy and healthy cat. She took to living with us (eventually) but still has a fear of strange people and will hide away. She doesn't like Georgia very much as Georgie likes to lick her and she is only a very small cat. She weighs less than 2 kilos and when desexed my vet said she had the uterus of a 6 month old cat. She has a full set of adult teeth and i was told she was missing for over two years and would be somewhere around 4 or 5 years of age.
  14. We have a dally and live on 20 acres. I hardly walk her although we do walk down to the dam of an evening and sometimes on hot days we will go several times. She prefers to either lay in side on the floor or on the veranda near the door so she can see what everyone is doing. She is kind of lazy though. We sometimes drive partway to school and walk down to the school and back which she loves. But when it is too hot she stays home.
  15. Oh sorry DA only just saw this. Have spoken to the Bulldusts on the phone a few hours ago and they are trying to organize themselves but they know the offer is there if they need it and o/h said we can turf Georgie outside to the horse stable if we really needed to use her crate and they couldn't get along. Not that Georgia is unfriendly with other dogs.
  16. I loaned my crates out last night and am not sure when they will get back to me but if anyone can offer Bulldust a crate i can still take one of the Bullys for her.
  17. Bumping for anyone interested in donating some unwanted items of clothing, bedding, food etc etc. They are still collecting goods. The central drop off point is the Bendigo Media Centre at the top of the hill Lily Street. Look for the two big radio towers.
  18. Bundy's Mum they are asking for you to donate any money to The Red Cross Victorian flood appeal. You can go here https://www.redcross.org.au/Donations/onlineDonations.asp and specify where you want your money to go. At the moment they are just concentrating on getting as many supplies out to those in need. ETA And the Salvatian Army but you will need to tell them if you want the money to go to a specific area.
  19. That's okay Erny you saved me having to bump it to the top for awhile. Anyone can donate all week long to the Bendigo Media Centre which is the central point. Also the Blood Bank would really like donations of plasma.
