7.30am and 4- 4.30pm. Or a bit later if we have to go somewhere straight after school as the boys share feeding duties. Eldest child feeds in the morning and the youngest child feeds in the afternoon. George won't even get out of bed unless she sees the eldest child in the morning and then she waits at the door.

Georgia does not do winter well. This is her from the other day when I was trying to cut new foam for her bed. She refused to get back out so I could measure the second piece.

Did Rosie lose a lot of weight when she first became sick? It may be that Rosie isn't quite regulated yet. In my experience it took awhile to get dosages and feeding right before everything settled down and Perrin lost a lot of weight right at the start so it seemed like he was always hungry. Especially with his levels seesawing all over the place. But once we were on top of everything his weight has maintained itself for the last 3 and a half years or so. I think it took maybe 10 weeks to get it perfect. He was difficult.

Hi Malty, I don't have a dog with diabetes but a cat and just want to reassure you that it's not as daunting as it seems. It was a little tricky to start with but once all the details and dosages get ironed out you will find it's not so hard. My cat has had diabetes for Just on 4 years now and you just get into a routine. Perrin knows when he is due a shot and stands like a pro and I got over my initial squeemishness pretty quickly.

She looks normal. Flat backed. In the photos above she was getting ready to toilet. Just has a tucked tail.

Tucked up tail.

CHA Thankyou. I hope so too. There won't be any bike rides with the kids in her near future that's for sure.

Well she's definitely feeling better. She's begging to go out for a run. I could feel eyes on me and when I turned around.... her best pleading face. I caved and gave her a quick wash under the shower. I couldn't stand the smell anymore. cNr I will update if there are any changes however I'm inclined to agree with the vet and think she just needs rest for the next few days and go from there.

Gawd what a sad dog. Just snapped this pic of her. Last night I was doubtful I was going to be able to keep her quiet for the next few days but this morning she has only gone out for breakfast and a pee. The farrier is here doing the horses and usually she would be out there supervising. ETA The bad thing is that she smells rank. I really want to wash her and her bed as well.
-
Yep it does. Thank you. Sue is a good vet.
-
Thanks TSD. That would be great.

She can walk fine but she couldn't get into the car although she tried. However it's not unusual as most of the time she makes me lift her in. She's a bit on the lazy side. As soon as I put her collar on and said we were going to the vet she was at the car in a flash. And she perked up once we were there. She's probably the only dog happy to see someone who sticks things up your backside. She's resting easy now. The fire is roaring away keeping her warm. Hopefully she will feel better tomorrow.

Good idea cNr. She has meds for 5 days to help ease the pain. Unless she gets worse in the mean time. TSD I have no idea. As far as I know she hasn't done anything out of the ordinary. When I saw her I initially thought she had eaten something as she was shaking, crying and licking her lips with bits of drool. She was inside and couldn't get comfortable because her bed was to soft. She has been doing something though as she smells rank, and is filthy.

False alarm. She's feeling better. I ended up making her a tent out of an old trundle bed mattress. It looks ridiculous but seems to be affective. She's gone to sleep.

Georgia isn't feeling well and the vet thinks she has hurt her back. She's been given a dose of Metacam but is still shaking and it's been 2 hours. She's a very wussy dog so I can't tell if she's just in shock or whether she's still in pain. I've taken her cushioning away and she's just laying on her snooza bed as she couldn't get comfortable with all the 'fluff' she likes to sleep with. It was too soft for her. Is there anything I can do at home to help her? She's got a coat on and is next to the fire. I'm thinking of chucking some blankets over her but it's so hot already we are wearing t shirts.

There's no graphic pictures. Just beautiful photos. The story is sad but also not graphic.

Ain't that the truth. Georgia suddenly turns deaf when it's time to get out of the car once we get home.

I can't see on my phone but are you sure they aren't glands?

What Are The Best Breeds Of Dogs For Young Families
perrin replied to tobie's topic in General Dog Discussion
We introduced a Dalmatian into our family when my children were quite young. Several people told us not to as they were boisterous dogs and the kids would get hurt. Getting Georgia was one of the best decisions we've ever made. She is perfect as an only dog in an active family. Family orientated, placid, loves to camp, bike ride and go anywhere with us and she is as quiet as a mouse. Most people don't even know we have a dog until they are at our door. She hardly ever barks. We don't regret getting her at all. And the kids have been able to grow up with her. And she is brilliant with all the kids that come here. -
I've never used it on a dog but with horses you normally put the cotton wool wrap padding underneath before winding the vet wrap around. Is this the same with dogs?
-
Having been on the receiving end of her attacks just for having a differing opinion I'm surprised but I actually feel nothing. To be honest I think it's probably a publicity stunt to get people off her back.

Our breeder chose for us. We gave a list of what we were looking for and were open to either sex. We didn't meet Georgia until we picked her up but she was perfect then and still is now. She slotted into our family like she has always been here.
