I had just started using eukanuba for my litter born on the 3rd feb, I sent all the pups to their new homes with a sample and all but a couple decided to use royal canine and not the eukanuba puppy. One of my puppy buyers recently informed me that there pup had a lot of diarrhea so they took him to the vet and he said that the pup seemed to have and intolerence to it. So they changed on the vets advice. the pup is now doing much better on his new diet.

If the baby is being cared for by the grandmother than no they won't remove her, but if Jane was on her own with the baby than they would remove her and first try placing her with family, if no family is available they put her into a foster placement. Has the baby's grandmother thought of taking over full custody of the baby?, that way she won't need to worry about her taking the baby away. hope things improve not a nice situation for bubs

I would be calling DOCS again and again until they do listen, U can always go stright to the top and go to the ombudsman. As a foster carer I to am also worried about this child. when u make a report be sure to always leave your contact details with DOCS, otherwise they tend not to take the report to seriously.

Hi, thanks guys, the puppies still get lots of "aunty time" with the older dogs, to teach them to play etc, I just want to stress I really had no choice but to send mum back she was to nasty to them and it got to the point where I had to muzzle her if she was going near the puppies. Her snarling and snapping at the pups would only not just harm them physically but mentaly aswell. I have to go get some of the bitter bite as suggested as hopefully that will put them off suckling. I had never heard of it before :D

I have a litter of 7 border collie puppies who where 5 weeks old on wednesday, they are fully weaned and their mother is no longer here as she was a terrible mum and I weaned the puppies at 3.5 weeks as I was mostly bottle feeding them and she was nasty and growling at the pups when they tried to feed, she was on lease to me so I sent her back. mum has not been here for 2 weeks now. I have another girl here who has never had a litter, she is 2 years old and I plan to mate her later this year, over the last 2 days she has taken to mothering the puppies by letting them suckle her and she even let's them suck her vulva ? She has become really protective of them and wants to be with them every waking moment and has taken to sleeping with them aswell, she started a fight with another desexed bitch I have here because she was protecting them I now have to keep them seperated. her nipples are also red raw and bleeding and her vulva looks pretty worse for ware aswell. when I seperate them she barks non stop and crys for them. my questions are: should I let her mother them or seperate them? why after 5 weeks has she now decided to care for them? and has anybody else had this before? thanks in advance

so sorry for your loss *Lolapalooza* good luck with mr stubbs he is so cute. sorry I have been missing have been so busy I forget to drop by most days. My puppies are 14 days old today, most of them have there eyes open now and are stumbling around on there feet, it has been a bit of a rough start have been having to supp feed them most days because mum hates caring for them one day then loves them the nexted, then she will be in the middle of feeding them and decided she is going to growl at them. I can't trust her to be by herself with them without me being around, cause she either won't feed them or growls at them. I will put her in the box and turn around and she is out of the box again, sometimes if I tell her to get in the box and feed her puppies she will run away from me so she dosen't have to. they will be crying out for her and most of the time she just ignores them, very frustrating when it is in the middle of the night and all 7 are crying for a feed. can't wait till they start lapping up their milk will make it much easier on me. I will post some pictures hopefully tomorrow. congrats to everyone on the recent arrivals. -

thanks for your advice guys, she went out for a wee late yesterday afternoon and the last placenta came out, since then she loves her puppy's, she is in there with them all the time and is being a great mum, I think she just needed a rest and to rid of that last placenta and she was fine. -

we ended up with 2 black and white males, 1 merle male, 3 black and white females, and 1 merle female- 7 in total. Been to the vet this afternoon for her post whelp check and she has 40% of her milk in now, she has been real growly with the pups all afternoon so have to supervise feeding's then take the pups from her if i am not in the room. A royal pain in the behind, hopefully she will get her loving instinct soon. -

I think we might be finished, she has 3 retained placenta's though so will most likley need to go back to the vet. The placenta's got stuck on just about all the pups spent the night pulling out placenta's and pups :D mum is exhusted and getting very cranky with the pups, she hasn't yet got much milk so they are crying all the time, I have some puppy milk I will supplement them with till the shops open so mum can get a rest. congrats to everyone else on there puppies -

Ok we are back again, she is fully dialiated and her cervix is very open but the puppies because they are a little early haven't moved up to the birth canal yet ( there is a reflex that kick in at the due date that cause's them to move down ) the puppies are very happy and having a party and mum is not stressed so we are leaving it longer. Our vet is a very experienced breeder vet so we trust in what he is saying, he is not comfortable in giving her oxytocin just yet as he said if that it is highly likley to cause the placanta's to detach early if the puppies are not ready. So just got to play the waiting game.
