  1. I find this hard to believe, what would stop it enering the bloodstream? What if the dog has any cuts or scratches?

  7. Thank you for your kinds words everyone . I will pass them on to my friend.
  8. A close friend of mine had her house burn out on Sunday night and her little dog, Kelly, died in the fire . The suspected cause of the fire is the new LCD tv which she had purchased on Friday. My friend was lucky to escape. She was asleep on the couch and was awoken by the heat. I met with her and other friends last night, she is physically moslty ok but of course, emotionally devastated. It was a horror story, she described going to get Kelly and the beams started to fall in from the ceiling. She looked across the room through the smoke and in tears had to say “Kelly, I’m sorry but I am going to have to leave you there”. With that, without even her hand-bag she had to walk out the front door and close the door. Kelly was 16 and somewhat blind and deaf, I only hope she went to sleep without any pain. The Fire Brigade chaps were very kind, they found her remains and said to my friend "We don't think you should see this" and they buried her in the garden. RIP Kelly.

I'm sorry for your loss Paula and thinking of you. RIP Angus.
  10. So sorry to hear this Springergirl. God speed Max :D .
  11. Oh dear Lex Ang. I guess we have to weigh up the pros and cons. Microchips help lots to keep a dog with their committed owner/s. The voiceless need that. They can be so vulnerable and so much need their human carer. Many die in pounds when that bond is lost. I guess preservatives and chemicals in some food is more of a concern. Then we have to consider flea treatment, vacinations etc. Not a good argument but it all has to considered. We can only do our best to limit these hazards.
  12. Another three years should take care of it. More like another 12 years to my experience .
  13. My thoughts to you Cassie at this very sad time.
  14. I go along with what Jed said. I also feel she will benefit from lots of cuddles and contact. I'm not an expert but feel she might be trying to make up for what she has missed from her mothering by eating. Sorry I probably haven't really answered your question  .
  15. I wouldn't be going out. She's only a baby. Just me, I couldn't leave a young one alone like that 'cause they can get into troubles that no one can predict or guess. Gawd she must be so beautiful, a rotti puppy. Good on the rescuers for helping her. Sorry I have no ideas about pain killers and went OT. The story sound a bit sus to me.
  16. RIP Max, sorry for your loss cam_n_tina. Run free boy
  17. I get chicken mince from a chicken shop at Preston market. They claim it has no preservatives and comes in frozen kilo "bricks". $7 for ten kilos goes a long way at my place. They also have rabbit mince $1.80 a kilo. Chicken carcasses and necks are also about 70c a kilo.
  18. I can understand the deep attachment. 5 months can be like 50 years when it comes to loving a dog once they get into your heart. One week can do it. Maybe do fostering for a while, it helped me doing that in ways I can't explain but the tears never go away, they just get sweeter though. Hugs to you knowing how it feels at this time. My blessings to Mary Lou in heaven.
  19. I don't wash my dogs very often, in fact I rarely wash them at all but they still smell sweet. My two lick each other clean. It's spring time and dogs are malting. I think you can interfere with the natural processes by washing your dog. My dogs (labradors) bath themselves in their swimming pool (a kiddies clam shell that I keep fresh water in for them) when they reckon they need to. As for the hair, I must admit there are some fabrics I don't choose when buying clothes. Having two yellows I find it impossible to keep a black jumper or cashmere wool coat dog hairless.
  20. I'm sorry for your loss Angel Dust and know how it feels to loose a dog you have known that long (beautiful pics of her) RIP Holly
  21. RIP Pippa I'm sorry for your loss dogmad.
  22. Hi Russ_Ren, I can understand your distress and puppy's. I've known a pup to do that on the first night or two when first arriving but they soon settle down. Putting the crate somewhere near the bedroom might be a good idea. Pics of puppy please ...
  23. Sorry to hear this Choppa Chop. RIP Dolce You tried your best for her.
  24. I'm very sorry for your loss Dean. Rest in Peace little Nee Hi :p
  25. Bridgee wouldn't want that magnum. For your heart not to be mended . Forever changed she would understand. I understand how you feel and birthdays bring them closer again. My sincere condolences to you over loosing Bridgee. It gets better but we never forget. I still cry for a lab boy who I loved to the end of the earth. They give us so much and how could we not miss them? Hugs to you.
