  1. No problems, they should accept them... what if you were from Vic? They look exactly the same, just ensure that you cut them out to the same size as the normal forms, do not leave them on a whole or half piece of paper, or there might be trouble! Good luck!
  2. Not ideal, and I am not sure how much secretaries like them, but you could just print these forms out from the Dogs Vic website to get you through? http://www.vca.org.au/assets/forms/conform...20for%20web.pdf
  3. Or wearing really nice black trousers and WHITE RUNNERS ;) I couldn't agree more, but make sure whatever shoes you are wearing fit, are comfortable and you will not fall over in. If you really enjoy showing and end up like me, and many others on here, you will live in these shoes. For me they go on at 6am the morning of the show and do not come off until I get home. I personally have very narrow feet so cannot find shoes that fit that are not lace up, so annoying... therefore I always wear lace up shoes, and majority of the time this is with a skirt, but they are neat and tidy black lace ups, and at least I know my shoes will stay on!
  4. No problems. Probably wouldn't hurt to know where the info came from if asked, but you would assume that the clubs would have this information somewhere if someone asked. And remember they will be 12 weeks in weeks, so it's not like showing a puppy that should not be out, if you know what I mean? I looked at the date of that regulation, dated in 1995, so I am sure it is the case with many litters, just not ones we have experienced!! Good luck ETA: Great question, and I am glad I looked it up as I now know for the future! Thanks
  5. I had to look this one up! Taken from the ANKC website document REGULATIONS PART 5 SHOW http://www.ankc.org.au/home/inner.asp?page...28&mainid=2 "1.2 To calculate the age of dogs for entry into breed classes where the date of birth does not occur in the relevant month, the anniversary date be taken as the last date of that month, e.g. dogs born on 31.1. will be eligible to enter the baby puppy class on 30th April. (06/95, 3.1.2)" So from this, I would say a puppy born on 30th November, 2009 would officially be able to enter the baby puppy class on 28th Feburary, 2010. Interested to hear others replies.
  6. Nah she got such a good look at though, but it went to the Hungarian. BIG - Wei RUBIG - Golden Bugger! Thanks for the results, do you know who the Golden was? Good luck tonight.
  7. No good last night in group Poocow? Who got BIG and RUBIG in Gundogs?
  8. Love it Poocow! Good luck with the show/s LOTG. If nothing else, try and enjoy yourself. I forget how stressful your first shows are. Remember, you are always taking the best dog home with you!
  9. Funny story behind how I got my grooming table. Once I got my 2nd show Aussie 'Rebel' I decided it was to hard grooming on the trolley and needed a grooming table to leave up at home. The Spring Fair weekend in 2007 when Rebel was in baby puppy I went and baught one before the show started on the Saturday night. Well... that night I was one very lucky girl and went on to win Baby Puppy in Show with Rebel... and guess what the prize was? ... A grooming table ... So in a matter of a few hours, I went from having no grooming tables to two grooming tables! Good luck tomorrow Poocow... it feels odd not getting ready for a show.
  10. I am not sure what the Border Collie competition is like where you live, but if you are in NSW, particularly Sydney/Newcastle it is very stiff. The handlers majority of the time are dressed very professionally and dogs groomed immaculately. I would say never wear jeans in the show ring. Some people do, and that is there individual choice, but something I would highly discourage. Find a few nice pairs of pants, or at least knee length skirts in brown, grey etc that will show off your black dog, and some nice tops, that are not exposing and you can run and bend in (as previously mentioned). And a good pair of show shoes that will not fall of your feet, and allow you to run. Much of the advice already given is great. But I would add, go to a few shows and then choose what you will feel comfortable in. Good luck.
  11. This is exactly right. However, I did it the other way around and got a trolley and had to use it for grooming at home until I got my grooming table! Worth having both, but when your first starting out, I guess you have to be patient! Good luck
  12. Improvise or find a friend real quick! Keep you eye on the DOL Classifies as there are often older grooming tables listed there for cheap prices. Might be something to start with before you can get a show trolley for shows and a nice new grooming table for home. We all had to start somewhere!!!
  13. You don't have to be a newbie to get show stuff for Christmas... I can't remember a Christmas or Birthday in which I have not got something show related! It all begins now newbies!!!

    Walking Poos

Nik - Sounds like others dogs do it also, but it is definatly an Aussie thing. Nothing that I know of will stop her. Both my boys walk around while doing a poo, and many other Aussies I know also do the same thing. Sorry to tell you that!!!
  15. No problems Dotty - Looks like everyone is willing to help you! I will only have Rebel entered, and you know that he is friendly, and he loves babies! Remember how much he wanted to play with Sparky at Newcastle before going in the ring (before I even knew who you were!!). I am finished up at uni now, so if you wanted before these shows we could meet up somewhere between your place (your in Newcastle right?) and mine for a little bit of puppy training!!! All in all there will be lots of friendly people there willing to help you, so even if your puppy is naughty and wins nothing, you will still have a nice day out socialising her! ... And I can have a play!
  16. Completely agree! I have been showing for too many years, from as soon as I could get in the ring until now, and still my baby puppies always manage to do something naughty in the ring! It is the one way you can make sure you always have a dog that loves the show ring. Make it fun! ETA: I will be there Dotty, more than happy to lend a helping hand!
  17. Dotty, don't be silly! Aussie puppies are too cute not to enter in shows when they first turn 12 months! It is just 2 shows and they are always fun show, although usually hot, there are lots of nice shady trees around the Working Dog ring at Morisset (if they don't change the rings). Good luck!
  18. Ignore what everyone is saying about good luck to you obedience training him (sorry guys!). Yes, they are hounds, but it is possible. Mum trialled a bloodhound bitch successfully for many years. They may not be like a working dog (etc) to train, but it is most certainly possible. Good luck with your new puppy.
  19. This is the best cure, and is what I do with my dogs ASAP when I notice a hot spot. I have one Aussie boy who they always seem to turn up on in the same area. As I do not have the option to shave his coat because I am showing him, and cannot leave it alone as the hair can fall out. Metho is the quick fix. After a day of putting it on 2/3 times, the hot spot is already starting to scab over. It hurts a little bit, but my boy now just stands there and lets me do it.
  20. As huski has mentioned, puppies will be puppies and I think that this puppy just needs training. For the time being, maybe just have her around the kids when you are around to supervise, this way you can correct her behaviour and thus the kids may begin to follow what you do to stop her from jumping and niping at them. Loudly clapping your hands can also be a good way to stop her from her actions. When she nips at the kids, loudly clap your hands or like huski said loudly say "ah" or "no" or whatever word/noise you wish to use to stop her, and then encourage her to play with something she can chew like a toy. I wish you the best of luck, be patient she is just a puppy, and probably one that has been lacking in time and attention. She now has this time and attention and is not sure about the boundaries in her new home. Remember she is a dog, and they will try all the limits until they know where they stand and how far they can push it.
