what a wonderful save ... well done, and love the pics :)

What bones are you feeding/meaning Puppybella? Bones high in marrow can cause this problem as marrow has a very high fat content. Marrow is found within the bone cavity, and it is basically fat.

Attention all South Australian exhibitors attending Casterton/Portland shows 13-14 November. SACA have made an error in the journal schedule advert with the order of the groups for all 3 shows. The groups are in the following order. 1 & 2, 4 & 3, 6 & 5, 7 & not as printed. (VCA Gazette is correct). Feel free to cross post and let any one know that you think this may effect.. thank you Juliet O'Meara

Please cross post to other groups you may know of so we can get the word out (ozshow & ozcollies have been posted on) Mrs L Harris will not be judging at the Portland /Casterton kennel club shows on 13th/14th November due to ill health. Her groups for the weekend are now to be judged by Mr William Mooney (Victoria) Please pass on to any one you think may need this info. thanks Juliet O'Meara

hi all .... please read this thread in dog rescue http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=186353 ...... staying silent is not helping the lives that are lost ... nor those that will go after them
-
why I used to live in a shocking Tiger snake area before, and lost dogs to them as well as saved some (both antivenine & VitC treatments). I am currently looking at my 15yo Collie (16 in April) who was bitten by a Tiger many years ago, she whelped a litter after that and never ever did I consider PTS when she was bitten. The only ones I lost were those that I found too late due to not being home at the time of the bite. Ptolomy, from my own experience .. having the dog on a drip, antivenine and VitC all work wonders. The timing of being able to administer these treatments is imperative. Once the heart is affected by the venom then you have a huge battle which will most likely not be won. Thats the only time I have PTS a snake envenomated dog Recouperation will not be fast. Keeping the dog quiet for weeks/months after the bite is important. Kidney function most likely will be affected, as was the case with my old girl. She has had intermittent kidney issues since the bite, but nothing life threatening. The kidneys take a real beating from having to fight the venom effects. Hope your friends dog is okay

Thanks ... will ask my friend to look into CS then - definately wont hurt anyway
-
Thanks Curlyking ... you say you havent had a hot spot since using CS? So do you keep your dogs on a dose of it all the time then for prevention?
-
Morgan .. you mention that CS is great for hot spots? Do you put it directly on the hot spot or give it orally? I have a friend with a dog who suffers from hot spots so will suggest they look into CS.
