Hi, thanks! i have only been once, didn't get to have a good look around so don't really know the place. Easier i thought to ask around on what's where :)

Hi all, i'm hoping to make the move from Geraldton to Bunbury sometime...maybe within the next year? A few questions, wondering where is the best place to buy pet meat from for a reasonable price? I'm assuming there is also a Lenards for chicken? The best place to buy pet accessories (collars, bowls etc) A good vet, preferably one that knows large breed dogs as i have Mastiffs! Perth is close enough for anything to do with breeding, but a practice in Bunbury would be good for small things/emergencies etc. I looked up the Kennel Club and saw a few photos of the grounds, looks nice and lush! Beaches, what are they like to take the dogs to? I take mine here all the time and they love to have a swim. I'm sure i'll think of some more things! thanks :)

Hi, i have sent Heidi a message, edited to say it was returned, email i found no good The ones i have are Ring 5, good strong chains but only 30" and i need bigger than that. The quality is great and def strong enough to hold a Mastiff just the length needs to be more to get over the head!

Considering Rehoming. How Do You Choose Who?
Kustali replied to Sharna3's topic in General Dog Discussion
My two Mastiffs started fighting over food, male and female. The female older and more dominant would go for the younger male over food at feed time. As he matured he became on edge and it got to a stage where he would race over to her just to have a go at her! I spent alot of time watching them and their behaviour towards each other, especially at feed time, any signs of them wanting to fight (the looks, stiffening up, walking around slowly stalking) and i'd step in and give them a good telling off. Once he'd said his piece and i'd intervened a few times the tables turned and the bitch became less dominant, they both know where they stand now with each other and if anyone trys to start anything they know i'll be right there to give them what for. I don't leave any toys or bones or anything out they can fight over, but i can feed them a few feet apart now and not have to worry too much which is great. Their pup which is 20 or so months i am doing the same thing with, she's learning. She gets fed in a seperate area to save any tiffs from happening but they all run together quite fine the rest of the time, i couldn't have them all seperated day in day out. But if i didn't manage it i would have had to, they are big dogs and the fights can be nasty but mine have all been talk and a fight for dominance in the pack. They have an understanding of each other at the moment and know i am boss. -
How horrible, but bet you are relieved now you have said what you needed to say

I like the heavier pup, to me he looks nicely put together. Have you broken down the standard and compared them to that. The lighter one looks longer in leg, is he taller than the stockier pup?
-
Have you squeezed her teats and let out some milk from each to see if it's ok? Massage them a bit and then let some milk out and have a look in your hand at what it looks like, any watery type stuff, puss?
-
I'm hoping someone does them here, after so called 'accidental' litters with puppies i have bred i'm considering having something done before they go to their homes!

Yes boiled rice and chicken breast for 24 - 48 hours usually works well! Scourban is great stuff too. Then introduce them back to their normal diet. Are they still getting milk?

Using Baby Doppler To Detect Puppies Heartbeats

I got a stethoscope and used it, but i think the doppler will be better for hearing their little heartbeats -
Using Baby Doppler To Detect Puppies Heartbeats
Kustali replied to indigirl's topic in Breeders Community
Someone i know brought one, you can't hear them til later on in the pregnancy though. I'm going to get one for my next litter so i can have a listen Jump on youtube, there are some good clips on there -
They're Mastiff puppies that are feeding, so BIG babies, not sure how it's go with littler bubs. They use the Dr Browns teats which are very good, i hand fed my singleton using those types of teats and they work great, no choking, aspiration etc. What were the people using that you talked with? I can see these working better than anything else i've seen out there and with 3 keeping the temp of the bottles right would be quite easy. When you're having to hand feed so many babies it could be a life saver! especially you're own sanity! I hand fed 11 with a different type of bottle/teat and it was not good, but i know the Dr Browns are good, i wish i had this back then.

Not only can they get caught up and strangle themselves to death on fences, decking etc they can also get caught up with each other, as mine have done, it's very scary and could have ended up being tragic. Check cahins are the worst, but still people leave them on their dogs...

That's just awesome news, so happy for you!
-
p.s. can you do a breakdown on the days and prog readings for those days, when tablets were started, what they were called, dosage etc etc etc? It's all knowledge and may help someone else with their expecting girls
-
Excellent news, well done for you and your girl!! I have been wondering how you were doing with her, so thanks for posting an update all the best for the delivery xx
-
Great to hear she travelling along well. Curious to know how long will she be on the tablets for? Is the 17th 63 days from ovulation?
-
I agree, i would not be giving any kind of refund if i had no proof that the dog actually had something wrong with it.
-
I hope it all goes well with the litter, glad you have her on the supps now, it should all go well from now on xx. You never know, it might be that you have to supplement for this pregnancy, but if you decide to breed your girl again you might not have to supp her next time. It's worth the risk i think, you have to weigh it all up, if she's a good quality bitch then i don't see the problem, plenty of other worse things out there. Best of luck

Bumping for someone

I would supp sooner rather than later, it could drop even lower and she could lose the puppies, in my opinion it's better to be safe than sorry. There is not alot of info out there, also most don't believe in it or know much about it, apart from talking to other breeders who have had trouble previously (losing litters) and then deciding to prog test and supplement finding that the bitches then carry to term, delivering happy healthy puppies. I had a thread somewhere with this subject?

Gosh, so sorry about your puppy. Having large breed dogs myself, i know first hand... 'oh that one must have HD because it's a Mastiff'....i'd just had the damn dog hip and elbow scored!!!!! (good results, way below breed av) Or yes it has a limp, must be ED... I hope you get some answers. Espinay i would be very interested in the article you have written for your puppy buyers?
