My female border collie x kelpie, approx 4 years old, started acting funny on Monday (I gave her a bath on Sunday, used Topi Topi Stop Itch Natural Pet Care shampoo, tea tree based for sensitive skins, she was fine on Sunday afternoon, quite pleased with herself to be clean and getting so much attention)
She is normally a very active happy dog, but she is acting really subdued as though she is in trouble, she won't wag her tail, she carries her tail in a very strange manner, she won't play with her toys, she is sleeping a lot and she seems to be sore if she sits down normally so prefers to lie down.
I have noticed that whenever she pees the first thing she does when she is finished is try to lick her private area, as though it is sore or uncomfortable. That did start a little while ago, and unfortunately I have not addressed it and now with all the other symptoms I am more concerned...
She is on her own all day and nothing has changed, I cannot see anything out of the ordinary where she might have injured herself. There is no way her tail could have got caught in a door without my knowing about it.
When I walk her she seems happy enough and not sore in her back or her legs.
Has anyone else come across this problem? Any suggestions? I would be most grateful.
I am going to ring vet tomorrow to ask if dogs can get UTI's and how I might treat it... She just seems really unhappy/uncomfortable all of a sudden and I wish she could tell me what it is!!
Thank you
