here is a tip, deep etching fur SUX! and is one of the hardest things to do well. I cant believe you do it for fun! But seriously I am impressed with some of the stuff I have seen here I have been working in this field for over 6 years and the skills here would totally cut it is most art studios I will try and dig up all of the working files for the delicious job, and walk you through the process. the steam was the hardest bit. when I do something like this I use Adobe Illustrator to create all of the objects and then put them on top in PS. then it is a matter of trial and error and layers and layers and layers! I don't get to do much of this stuff anymore, I use a lot of Flash these days. now that is a head f@#k

No every PhotoShop from v7 on calls home every time it is installed, there is only one way to counter it and that is disconnect when installing it. As I use PS for commercial use I have purchased it. I am sure they would take that into account in a software audit.

Be careful guys Adobe are pretty serious and clever in regards to piracy

west ryde vets are generally pretty good. are you linked with a foster group? yep i am fostering banjo for 4 paws

Just a quick update, Took the big guy off to the vet tonight, his ears were pretty bad so they have had a clean and he has been given drops and an anti inflammatory shot. For his skin the vet suggested washing him twice a week with malasab. She said it seems like a slight yeast infection or an allergic reaction. And how about this, The vet asked me if I was paying or if the rescue org was paying, I said I will and I will call it a donation, the vet said well in that case I will just charge for the shampoo and the drops and call the consult fee a donation. Thought that was pretty cool of her - West Ryde Vet if you are wondering.

Thanks everyone - he will be off to the vet tomorrow, Wylie I think may be on to something with the ears, it seems to be stronger there. I have no idea what he was fed before we rescued him. i can only assume it wasn't good and it also was not much he was so skinny. on the upside I have noticed he is really starting to bounce back in his energy levels and is starting to play with my pup a lot so I think maybe the new diet is staring to work will keep you all posted

I have a rescue – Banjo – he is a border collie with a LONG coat. When he came from the pound he stunk and was riddled with fleas, I gave him capstar and a bath, then a few days later after he was no longer matted I gave him a flea bath. He then got revolution on his neck so the fleas are gone. Within two days of being washed he smells like smelly feet. And his skin is flaky on his back. I have started to feed him nutro choice with a sardine on top to give him more oils and I washed him a couple of days ago with emu oil dog shampoo. Yet he already smells (a lot) and his coat is almost waxy and not clean feeling at all. He also bites at his skin a lot so it is obviously irritated. Has anyone ever encountered a condition like this? Any tips on helping him out? Is brushing him every day helping or irritating it more? cheers

Aggression Towards Kids Next Door
Chloes Dad replied to Lil Miss LeiLani's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Dogs are different on there own property. we have 4 schnauzers on one side. there is often conflict through the fence yet when they meet on neutral territory down the dog park they are all best mates.... I often notice the kids next door to my place running up and down the fence to taunt Chloe. Then one day I hear a scream from the backyard and the girl has come over to get her ball. Chloe was not being aggressive but she was jumping all over her and nipping. I think she associated this child with excitement and play, due to the through the fence interactions. I now get a knock on the door when the ball comes over  My guess is that your dog has had similar interactions with these children -
yep fishy metallic and just plain gross! thats it! there was a puddle tho.. maybe she weed aswell?

Just want to bump this with a question Chloe was at the back door and it was shut. the postman came by and she got all excited and wanted to get out, she left a puddle of FOUL smelling stuff. is this her anal glands? we thought she wet herself but it is oily and all over her tail. and talk about smelly!!

Yes I understand your point. Stats always make me wonder.....
-
Thanks for the Reply Is it the lower protein level in the adult foods that is the reason you recommend doing this? I went for SD large breed puppy aat my vets advice because it pretty much has the same protien level as the SD adult (puppy is 26, and Adult is 25) or are there other factors of puppy food besides protein that you are concerned with in relation to rapid growth?
-
can you tell me what the glucosamine supplement is for in regards to bone health? also if anyone can point me in the direction of reference material on this topic that would be great
-
Yeah makes you wonder where they get this stuff huh? these stats would suggest that at least 1 in 4 of your bitches would have been effected

Ok I am going to open Pandora's box! Yep the which food question . I have been feeding Chloe Hills Science Diet Large Breed Puppy (26% protein 8.5% fat) at the vets recommendation, Chloe gets a Chicken wing for brekky and the SD at night. The SD is about to run out so I am looking at other things, I have been thinking Nutro Or Eagle pack due to the reviews I have heard on here. Pretty similar cost to the SD. With Nutro there are 2 puppy foods that may be suitable, the normal puppy food 26% protein and 12% fat and, the large breed (for dogs over 22 kilos at maturity) 28% protein and 12% fat. Now this is strange to me I thought large breed pet foods had a lower protein level to help combat Bone problems? For example the eagle pack has 23% protein for large breed and 28% protein for their normal puppy food and they have this statement on thier site I know a border collie is not a giant breed of dog yet they are still prone to the same issues if they have rapid bone growth? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

This is off the pet education website 26% in dogs apayed after 2nd heat... wow that is over 1/4 I imagine breeders must have to deal with this all of the time?

you know how to scare a man, the H word!!!

Thanks for the input will definitely be consulting my vet. And talking through the research etc I must admit though I am leaning in the direction of holding off, In human terms I wonder how I would have developed if I had my sexual organs removed as a child before puberty. The argument of waiting makes sense to me. And I am willing and able to ensure no accidents occur. Can you point me in the direction of the Research re cancer?

One thing I have been doing with Chloe is sitting her down then holding a soft ball in front of her. I say stay and walk away backwards then in my girliest voice (I have been told I need to work on my Minnie Mouse voice...) I say are you ready then I gently lob the ball toward her and she catches it on the full most of the time. She then runs to me with the ball and we have a bit of a fun tug of war with it. Then we repeat. I have been increasing the distance and length of time with this and I have found that it is a really positive way to teach the "stay". Now I have moved on with this so I sit her, then say stay, I walk away I say are you ready. Then I say OK and run toward a pole she runs around the pole and gets her ball. And a hell of allot of Minnie Mouse dad praise What are your thoughts Gurus? will try and capture this on film for you all

thanks so much for you help. after reading this article and discussing it with my partner we think we will hold off until 14 months. I will of course now discuss this decision wit my vet and see if they have anything to add
-
If i were t hold off untill 14 months as the article advises how many times will she have been in season by then?
