Wow those dogs certainly learned their lesson. They wont be running away again! Thats awful!

The only problem might be this part. My boy is 35kg and quite big and he likes to walk for about 15 minutes optimally, but occasionally we will take him for a 30 minute walk and thats totally enough for him. The other night after a 30 minute walk he wanted to sleep in preference to eating his dinner he was that tired! If we wanted to walk him for an hour, he'd be knackered! Does anyone have a grey that walks for an hour?

I leave my two Stafford girls and greyhound boy inside during the day. The girls can get outside if they want to using a pet door but they sleep most of the day I reckon. Even before we had the pet door, on rainy days they were inside all day without access to outside and they were fine. Occasionally I will come home to a box of tissues strewn across the lounge if I forget to put it away before I leave but thats about it. When Daisy was little I left her inside and she ate a 18 pack of toilet rolls, the couch cushions, and my mobile! lol I wasnt impressed haha

I have had a similar experience taking on a dog (what I thought was temporarily) that was worse than described to me and his vet bills were also large due to complications with desexing so I know what you are feeling. Wanna swap? hehe joking. Just looking at your photo makes me laugh, the term little black duck comes to mind. I hope you're not too over whelmed and can handle 4 dogs in the future if your situation changes which is something to consider also. She still needs a while to settle in and realise the world is not such a horrible place and perhaps she will fit in just fine

Ok awesome thanks, I will send him that test I suggested portugese water dog first up and told him obama has one. He wasnt too swayed by that statement.

I suggested poodle but he didnt want one of those. I think he thinks they're not manly enough. I think they look spectacular.

Hey guys, well my boss keeps telling me he wants a labradoodle as they have a labrador now who is quite old and they want to get another dog in the near future similar to a labrador but good for allergies. Any recommendations? I have done a search but most dogs that come up are small and I dont know what they are like in terms of exercise and child friendliness etc. They would like a larger dog and have two 8-10 year old kids. I would assume something with the same exercise requirements as a labrador. I just need some names to throw at him as I dont think he's up for doing too much research into it.

Our greyhound boy (not permanent addition by our choice) has it quite badly I think. He can't be left alone at all. He gets walked seperately first, then OH and I take the girls for a walk and as soon as we leave the house he starts barkin and we can hear it down the street. He's always inside and never left outside alone (should I start leaving him out there alone on occasion? a couple of times I've accidentally locked him outside though cause I didnt know he was out there and he's been quiet as a mouse for 2 hours and this was at night time both times). When we were out walking he has eaten the front door frame really really badly and has started on the front window (which is the main focal point of the room and he's eaten 3 out of 4 frames on the bottom). He's also eaten one of the door frames in a bedroom I left him in a couple of times when I went out, even though the door was open with a gate on it and he could see the girls. He is happy enough if we go out and the girls are home with him, as happens everyday but the girls can get outside through a dog door to outside and he is inside all day and he doesnt bark and cry when they go out as he knows where they are. They go out and in as they please. The other day though we just took one of the girls for a walk and he was home with the other and he still barked. I dont pay him a particularly great amount of attention but I feed him and walk him and OH walks him too. I dont baby him, he doesnt sit on the couch, he doesnt get molly coddled I dont think. He does sleep in our room though, as do the girls. Should we start making him sleep in the lounge? (he's been rehomed twice and is a boomerang. Anyone want a greyhound? He's not that bad really :laugh: )

You should see my girls tail. Its like a pugs tail hehe though its cute it really used to annoy me. The vet suggested putting a weight on it when she was younger but she didnt like it so I didnt bother with it. Her tail doesnt bother her and it still wags fine and she straightens it when she wants to.

I would ask to arrange to go and see her and speak to the vets about it. THen as someone else posted offer to take her back if you can. Otherwise half is fair (cause you're a caring person, not because you're obligated to after 5 years). Not all of it.

What about the schmako's chew strips you can buy in a box of 10 at the supermarket? Is schmako's australian? If I give one to poppy the moment it touches her mouth she drops it on the floor and looks at me in disgust. And she will eat anything so thats saying something!

Is it possible to wipe information from a microchip before dumping? My boys chip was wiped and I only realised when I went to put my own details on there when we decided we were keeping him.

I thoroughly recommend Colonel Light Gardens Vets - affordable but the staff are some of the best I have ever dealt with. Our favourite vets are Dr Bloch and Dr Wearing. If I recall they are relatively close to where you were planning to move. Louie has been going there since he was 12 weeks old and I don't have a bad thing to say apart from sometimes they run a little late with consults, but on the other hand you always get a thorough consult! I second colonel light. All the vets really know their stuff. My favourite vet is Dr Bosboom :D

You've made a very unselfish decision and I hope everything goes well with your new addition! I've seen two staffords who have grown up together of a close age suddenly decide one day they hated each other. One was my youngest girl and the other was my parents girl at around 2 years of age just decided they wanted to tear each others heads off one day. They can't be anywhere near each other ever since (not really relevant but I just wanted to share my experience) Make sure you come back and post lots of photo's of your new pup and come and join the Stafford thread

As I said, not directed at you and not being nasty, I was simply taking an opportunity. There is no need to feel like crap. I was having an emotional morning obviously. I'm well over it now. But why post your photo's on a forum if you don't want discussion about them from other people that probably don't know as much as you do? Are we all just supposed to oooh and ahhh at the photo's and thats it? (Actually, don't bother answering that anyone, I probably didnt ask in the correct manner according to some people.) If you don't want to answer a 'stupid' question just say so or ignore it. Its not a big deal.

How about she tells you all her processing secrets so you can go out and replicate the whole thing. Note to ALL people who ask questions such as this: You think it's just one small email and easy but people who produce good work the way that Rocco does, can receive literally dozens of these emails each week. It takes alot of time and effort to respond. That being said, there's a right way and a wrong way to ask these questions. The right way, "Hi, I love your images, If you're willing can you please share a few things that you do to make them look so good?" Don't try and guess or pre-empt an answer, it really does come off the wrong way and is a bit cringeworthy. (I'm not having a go at you GotAnyBlacker, but I see these same sort of questions asked constantly from many people so just thought I would take the opportunity to let people know that they can ask the questions but do it in such a way that the photographer/artist doesn't want to ignore you.) ps - feel free to ignore me people. I'm having a hectic day, have been up since 4am doing work that I thought was urgent and just found out that I was doing it all for nothing - I'm just a bit tired and over it. :D Rocco - I'm still a Rocco fan. I think you need to get a good "shaking dog" photo of him :D oh sorry. I guess thats why most people ignore my questions most of the time. I feel really bad now. Sorry. I saw on tv a new cancer injection they're trialling in dogs at the moment who have lumps. On tv they were asking for people to call them if they wanted to have their dog in the trial. It has cleared up all the dogs tumors in under a week that have had it. I dont remember who the company was though. I'm sure its on the internet somewhere.

Poppy was a biting machine when she was little. She grew out of it and is now the laziest dog ever. Hang in there

Teddy does that to us. When we walk the girls and leave him at home he eats the walls of the door we have left from. He's just started eating the front door! He barks and howls so we can hear him down the street and its still going when we get back! I'm glad its not a rental as we'd be in big trouble if it was. He also does a poo inside sometimes to show us his displeasure. We can't put him outside either because of the barking he has to stay inside as its so loud and he can't be trusted outside alone. He is 5 and still hasnt grown out of this behaviour and we've had him since he was 2.
