Oh my God that poor poor family Poor little baby, life really isn't fair sometimes is it. I hope to God she isn't suffering too much My prayers are with that dear little girl and her family

Well today was a milestone. My 2 young nephews came to visit and Carli didn't grab them, (mouthing, more than biting, but she dosn't know how to be gentle with littlies yet), like she has been doing, and sending them flying back inside She just took her ball up for them to throw for her YIPPEE ;) and chased and chased the ball bringing it back to them for ages, Toby said "Gee I like Carli like this Aunty Deb she is being very good" ;) She just loves the kids so she was in her element having them out there with her for so long Mind you this was after she had forced her way into our fenced off greenhouse garden and dug up half the garden and dragged everything else around that she could reach I just had to come back inside and count to ten. ;) ;) But if she will stop this biting thing I can put up with the other puppy things, easy ;) She is 5 1/2 mths now and it only seems like 5 1/2 years. Time flys when your having fun, lucky I love her to death

My ,there is nothing you can say is there :p Just look at the love in her eyes for her darling little jet :D With all our loving wishes, poor little darling ;)

I now its sounds feasible to turn away and ignore them but what do you do when they then jump onto your back, as my little darlin does and they nearly knock you into next week Carli thinks that when you stick your knee out that your just giving her a helping hand to jump back up ;)

Are you sure you havn't kidnapped my Carli You sure!! You sure!!! Hope you find something that will help, as Carli is 5months now and we are still trying everything and being a GSD she is getting pretty big ;) Just as well we love her to bits, mind you, the telling off that 7yr old Buddy also a GSD, gave her last night, she isn't learning when to stop when warned. God he puts up with some, poor old darlin

It certainly makes you wonder where they get the stuff they chew up, from dosn't it My Carli 5mths also loves to find things that half the time I did"t even know I had Sorry I cant help with any idea"s as I'm still trying to work out my little darlings escapades. I have to admit that I let them play with icecream containers or old drink bottles as all they seem to do is put holes in them but they make a noise and thats half the fun for them and they are easy enough to pick up when they have destroyed them ,just an idea that may work You could always suggest a small pen or crate as you have tried, if that works I'm sure people dont mind, cause if he gets adopted, people want him and as long as you explain that he needs to be watched they would do what needs to be done before they get cranky :D

Thanks Sas I know its only time, and we WILL get there eventually ;)

OK Sas I'll have a look for the book you suggest. When I say I've never had one like her before I do realise that they are all different and I've always had my dogs from puppies, what I mean is that we have been unable to train her not to do this I've never had a puppie take so long to teach, not to bite.I dont mean temperment wise Its just, as I said before, that she is so smart, you only have to show or tell her anything else once and she does it but this GOD damn biting thing And when I say yell its not a scream yell its a loud stern voice yell and I can assure you ,you couldnt scare her with a bomb going off under her, so dont be thinking this poor little tyke is a quivering mess she has more confidence than any other pup I've ever seen in my 30 years of having dogs and pups of different breeds I absolutly love her to death but she does have me tearing my hair out What dosnt kill you makes you stromger isnt that what they say?She is beautiful isnt she!!!!!!!!! Nick and Erica your pups breeder sounds like a great fellow :D

I also feel that if they are just holding it, it dosn't hurt to let them walk with it in their mouth,as they tend to walk better when learning but this is IMO, cause as they get older they tend to not worry about it . Just wondering how they get the chance to chew it up, if you are walking them????????? Never had a dog do this thats why I ask!! Not giving a hard time just curious!

RIP Georgie Porgie and Arnie ;)

RIP Chelsea 15 years is a great old age but it dosn't help does it! I lost my Irish Setter at 14yrs 11 months and it nearly broke my heart as I couldn't remember a time when she had't been there ;) Then 12 months later lost my 9 year old GSD Didn't think we'd ever get over losing our girls :p

God damn I wish I didn't come on this site RIP baby

Hi Sas, Yeah I know we shouldnt yell at her but she will not take any notice when we growl at her or yelp, she just gets more hypo if you make any noises or she barks back at you, as if to say dont tell me off, which we have roused on her for cause I know thats a dominating thing and she has to know we are boss. I have never had one like this before. My kids are 15 and 13 and she is better with them now as well but my neice and nephews are 7,7 and 4 and it just dosnt sink in that its the wrong thing to do. My daughter is convinced she has ADD and thats exactly what shes like When she starts on the kids I grab her collar and tell her to settle and she knows thats what she should be doing cause she gives me a lick and looks at me as if to say yeah I know, I know then as soon as I let her go she goes and grabs them again, so I take the kids away and thats when she starts crying for them to come back out , it is very frustrating cause she is such a lovely pup. If the kids get the ball she'll chase it and bring it back to them to play and dosn't bite them then but I dont always remember to bring in a ball for them to take out to her . Its really hard cause I know she dosnt mean to hurt you she just wants to hold you

Hi N&E I also have a lovely 5mths old GSD who will not stop mouthing us when she walks beside you, she grabs your hand and walks with you, with it in her mouth She has learnt that if she bites too hard she gets into trouble but she just wont stop, its like a love bite thing . She does still grab too hard with the kids though and they dont like going out the back I dont know how to stop her doing that . I hate yelling at her but she just does not listen unless you raise your voice. The only one she really takes notice of his OH who she adores We have tried turning away, all that does is give her the back of your legs to grab I have to admit it is getting better ,the thing is she is such a smart little cookie ,everything we have taught her she has learnt straight away except this damn biting thing So will also welcome some ideas about what to do
