I take a lot of photos....I dont ask permission, usually I'm using a telephoto lens... WHat would be the protocol if you were taking a beach view etc. and people were there? I certainly don't get in people's faces with a camera and dont use photos for anything other than my own use. Everything's getting so hard these days... I dont think I'd mind photos taken of me, I've not been in that position.(wonder why? ;) ) Certainly would not mind the dogs being photographed. re money, my girlchild took a photo of a goat kid in Jordan as it was so cute, and was asked for money she didn't mind, but was really careful what she photographed after that....

Can I just say - I was at my local dog park recently, and I have two german shepherds and one woman tried to hit my dog for chasing her jack russell - the jack russell was absolutely loving it - but she thought it was 'terrified' and tried to hit my dog... now... if my dog had bit her I would've cheered him on. I always like to know what a person has done to aggravate the dog that attacks them - granted, not all people do something... sometimes dogs just turn... but not all the time the 'victim' is innocent... maybe the dog was protecting itself? - and I'm not talking about this particular instance because I haven't seen the video and can't bring myself to watch it... but maybe we should ask what a person has done to piss a dog off - as I was saying... that woman HIT my german shepherd - if he wasnt so placid and loving, he could've ripped her apart - and of course, he would've gotten put down... she had absolutely no right to touch my dog. so just ask - what provoked the dog? How do you knoww her JRT was not terrified??? It's her dog, she would know his reactions.. you don't. If a pair of wolfhounds were chasing down one of your shepherds, how would you react??? I know what I'd do if 2 larger dogs were chasing one of my smaller ones.... ;) maybe you need some control over your dogs?

Looks pretty normal to me :D OMG!! I have several friends who talk about getting a pug and when I say they shed... I am treated like a twit (in the nicest possible way ) I think this photo with breed info would be fantastic to prevent any unkown issues cropping up.. I agree with testing too. I have a son with asthma (life threatening before 6 years of age). We all have suffered allergies since moving to this house 8 years ago, our garden is full FULL of stuff... This time of the year is very bad, even the dogs and one cat are on meds for allergies, until about christmas. I am on creams and occass. meds too. Rye grass which is in many turfs etc. these days is often a BIG culprit in spring. I have a Burmilla who sheds bucket loads too, like that photo!!! and throws up hairballs daily... usually on my bed..I do find a vigorous bath and blow dry gets rid of HEAPS of the hair , but it's back the next day... I really hope you can keep Ollie, he is a gem, gorgeous.. it must be very upsetting. If after extensive experimenting (shave, docs, meds, etc), please please check that whoever does have him is a pug person and knows all about pugs , shedding, personality etc.... I'm sure you wwould do this anyway. Lots of love to you all, esp Ollie.xxx

I love this because our dear old acd Pindi was such a fantastic teacher for our vizsla Monah who was a puppy here and this shows what a sweet, caring and sharing old girl she was as the viz was quite a handful at the time Love this for several reasons, my dad is deceased and this was him walking Geordie our wolfie AND one of our cats BB, used to go to the beach too I also love that Geordie was squatting to pee, he never learnt to lift his leg :D My dear old patterdale, Blackie would guard the house, me, everything, and yet was a gentle and loving playmate who I still miss. Sam our blue burmese and Koko the brown were in love all their lives. which way did he go???? These are not recent pics, guess I'm a bit sentimental..............................

Hi gusmum. for me it would depend on if he was staying at home with a person he knows and loves while you are away. If he was, I'd leave him home. If not I think I"d take him (if he were my Moo) and take all his things so he can smell them and feel OK. Of course, maybe you are planning on being out and sightseeing, so then he would be alone and maybe fret in a new environment. Lils mum may have some ideas in vizslas. He is such a lovely old boy, a great age for a viz :D xxxx

Is Your Dog Well Trained Or Just Well Behaved?
Monah replied to dee lee's topic in General Dog Discussion
 Jaxx is THE most well behaved and well trained little girl ever!! I'm in awe of her (and in love!) Most of my dogs have been 'well behaved' no thanks to me My current two are well trained, get the viz at doggy sports etc and she is wonderful, terrific recall etc. all the time.... HOWEVER she is pretty naughty, excitable etc. at home. (my fault of course) the spin is an angel, but if she sees 'prey' her ears switch off :D I only let her off for a run at the beach as she cannot go anywhere there, although when there is low tide she has chased birdies almost to Fraser Island :D no joke!!!! so now I have 2 'badly' behaved dogs, one who is well trained. One day I'll get it right and have a well behaved well trained dog..... just have to be trained myself first -
Lakeland Terrier.

I have an x ttail and I LOVE it! we have been to darwin and back in it, towing a 17ft caravan FULL of belongings, 2 largish dogs, 4 cats and a bird!! It managed fine in 48 degree weather, we were all lovely and cool, and also in winter below freezing in the outback. It's terribly light on fuel, I was amazed at how well it went and how little fuel it uses. It has drawers in the back for all the doggy stuff etc. :D Can be manual or auto, really comfortable. We had a patrol for many years and loved it. Good luck with your car hunt.

Oh good god, that's ridiculous. If someone's really scared of dogs, then me walking my girl past them on a leash could "cause fear". That's their problem, it shouldn't be made into ours. I read it this way. I dont understand how this can work properly. What may be frightening for one perosn may not be for another. There are 2 dogs that rush their fences daily where we walk. Both are gorgeous, one ACD and one Lab. Owners are good too, not feral in any sense. THe blocks are a couple of acres and the fences on the front of the property. I pat them etc. THey are not menacing at all, but maybe someone who was 'new' would think they were..... I understand some dogs are menacing, I just dont know how this could be policed fairly... :D

Another big Otterhound fan here :D Can't imagine a more stubborn dog than a wolfie We asked a neighbour to let ours out while we were away for the day ONCE!! they let him in, let him stand there for ages TRYING to get them out for the loo,.................... he gave up and they hung on for many hours! NO WAY were they leaving the house to go out in the garden with him, and they knew him for years!!!

Absolultely LOVE this thread Incredible how a different colour can show a dog in a completely different light. Some are quite difficult to recognise simply becasue you do not expect to see a breed in that colour. Love them all, The Irish, poodles and GSDs in particular, amazing colours and coats. Also LOVE the agouti sibe and the smooth afghan Oh let's be honest, they are all stunning...

I'm sorry I cannot comment on dog diabetes but I do have a cat with it, for the last 5 years. Firstly he did not need monitoring although I did take him back over a period for regular bloods to make sure his dose was correct. that was for about 2 weeks every couple of days. I was noot charged for his bloods, took 1 minute. Ongoing, 2 injections per day 12 hours apart. He has done really well, is now 17, perfect health Maybe it's different for dogs, or for that dog, I cannot say. Hope the dear little boy is OK, I had a maltx rescue that passed when he was 15.xxxx

Can't wait to see photos!! Like FHRP mentioned, come in the Vizsla breed thread on the breed pages at the top of general lots and lots of fellow viz enthusiasts to chat to and ask questions. Congratulations on becoming Aussies, I'd actually like to move to UK!! :D xxx

that's right PF. I can't ever take those stats etc. seriously, wherever they originate. Just last week a boy was eating a sandwich and a dog bit him on the chest, (trying to get the food). They said it was a wolfhound, yeh right, and 20 other breeds in there, it had a scruffy face.. So who is policing what these dogs are? and who is policing the owners? It's all such a crock!!! I've had ACDs, best dogs in the world.

Family Members Sorting Out Their Place. How Much Is Too Much?
Monah replied to melzawelza's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree with Erny. I have no skills in this area, only what I've picked up from many years of owning many breeds of both sexes. Only once have I owned a dog who may snap at another. If I had told the underdog?? off she would have ended up a complete wreck, very very soft dog. To deal with these specific dogs I'd tell the 'attacker' to go to her room (yep, they have a room ) often she'd go as soon as she had done the deed.....without being told. She is allowed out when I say. The other dog is told to go on her bed, calmly and nicely. Neither is given any attention etc. I'm not experienced at all at this kind of thing but there is no way I'd allow dogs to fight and get injured. That may not be the right thing to do, but in our house it is. -
I have 2 desexed bitches. When the second came as a pup, the other one did bite her 2 or 3 times, but she had a few issues anyway. It was still a bit of a shock as she had lived with a female cattle dog and male swf with no issues. My second dog is an angel, so things have been very smooth for 4 years now If she were a bit bossy like the other one, we would have had problems. The 'biter' is very sweet too, but is fairly 'flighty' and nervy. When I have my girlchilds BC, who is a very opinionated male!! the biter is an angel and he is the boss (which is his name too!) So I guess she's not confident enough to be in charge, but also not the underling, I dont think she really knows what she is so she's flexible. Mine have NEVER been left together if no one is home. They are in separate rooms and this works really well too as they are not too dependent on each other and used to being alone. At night they are crated next to each other. they play, wrestle, snuggle etc., but eat in separate rooms and I dont let my guard down. when we first got the younger one, i either had someone watch them while I was in the shower , loo etc., or took the pup with me (couldn't trust her on her own, she chewed everything ) It was a matter of management and it all worked out very well. our cattle dog (female) would babysit the pup when we were out in an empty and safe room, she was a rock!! complete angel the biter NEVER EVER tried a thing with her and worshiped her to bits. I've had many many males together, all desexed, and all sorts of breeds and never had one single incident even with food etc. so it was quite a shock to me to have one dog bite another.!!!
