Hmm. my favourites. :D Lovely boys xxx spotted devil, wow, congratulations. lovely.!! -
wait and see. all dogs are different. Your friend's swf may be nothing at all like yours. I had one for 15 years (rescue), he was a turd :D and I loved him dearly. My cockatiels wold sleep with him when they came out daily, and play and chase him. He was fantastic with them and around 4 years old when he came to us in a terrible and neglected condition. Good luck.xxxx Fawlty and Monah, 5 years ago. fawlty, basil and pindi

Looking For Some Advise On Right Type Of Dog
Monah replied to adogisforlife's topic in General Dog Discussion
No matter what sort of dog you get, I'd have two gates/doors between the dog and the guinea pigs at all times. Kids can forget and you need built in safety measures. very well said. better safe than sorry at all times. -

I like cavs too and I know the ear probs were mentioned but I'm just mentioning it again as even here in Hervey Bay, ear infections are a hugely common problem with drop eared dogs (inc, one of my own ) and the expense and care can be pretty ongoing.... They are a lovely breed though, but it's just something to keep in mind. I'm a guinea pig lover myself.xx -

Looking For Some Advise On Right Type Of Dog
Monah replied to adogisforlife's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've found a good cattle dog about the best kids dog ever maybe we have been lucky, but they have been the perfect playmates, protectors, never ever leave your side, trustworthy off lead, very easy to train. etc etc. We also had Lakeland terriers when the kids were growing up and they were wonderful, not so protective or trustworthy with recall as the ACDs, but the greatest fun ever, just like the foxie mentioned another big fav of mine. The only thinkg is they would need clipping and the coat may collect grass seeds (but they don't molt etc. ) they are only around 7 to 9kgs and the perfect kiddy size (love the bed....) I feel any dog you have will be soooooooooooooooooo lucky.xxx -
Oooh, nice, where did you get that from? xxx I have not even started my shopping yet, for anyone Will get on the net and start tomorrow(for doggies), later for everyone else! :D

I agree Souff ;) I also LOVE it when I see her traipsing into some castle, palace or whatnot with muddy wellies, headscarf and several gundogs/corgis etc. following and sitting on the valuable antiques... So much for not allowing dogs indoors because they may ruin something... I adore her to bits

Behaviourist Required Gold Coast Area

Jane Harper, rec. very very highly!!xxxxx -
I agree with the other posters too. You had a few awful experiences, I am sorry. Could be best to avoid those sorts of places. as far as the poo bag lady goes, there is not much you can do about it. I just look at people( and hope they think twice) if I see this, but don't take it on board as my responsibility. It sounds like she may have resented the interference, although I too am thoroughly disgusted anyone would put a plastic bag in the sea or not 'pick up' I don't think you mentioned about the treat episode if the extra dog you gave a treat to was a friends or not? I would be very unhappy if anyone gave my dog a treat whilst we were out and often dogs do resource guard if there are a few dogs around so I can see how something like this may have occurred. I understand the growly dog growled even when there was not treat and the next dog backed down. I feel this is a disaster waitng to happen as many dogs would not 'back' down from that so the growly dog should not be at liberty to behave this way. Off lead is not the place for a dog who growls at others. Where was this dog's owner too? Did she rescue her dog or help and why was her dog not with her? (maybe it was, but it was not mentioned). I also was wondering if you mean that the dog who was attacked and injured is BACK at the park again? If so, that is not very wise on the owner's part at all. I was not there but I would have 'helped' if I was next to a dog fight or saw by behaviour that it could occur. Not a great thing to do I admit, but I have done it in the past when I've thought I could handle it. I dont mean sticking arms in to get bitten, but something else that may help. If the owner was a fair way off I couldn't stand back. I certainly do not excuse the behaviour of the attacking dog at all or the awful irresponsible owner, but when you are out and about with offlead dogs we all need to be very aware and not take for granted that every dog is a happy, sharing, dog friendly animal. Good on you for reporting it too We do not have any dog parks here and I'd not use one if we did. Nightmare. Look after number one, keep your dog very close and if that is not possible, on lead. With joggers etc. if I see an oncoming jogger my dogs are right next to me in a sit so that the jogger is not intimidated in any way. Hope your week improves, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I have no idea what the law is however where I live you have to report a lost/found dog and the council will give you the owners details so you can return it or if the details cannot be determined they keep your details on record so that when the owners ring the pound or council etc. they can pass your details on as they prefer whenever possible for the person who finds the dog to look after it. Of course often this is not possible, but they ask if you are able to hang onto it while they trace the owner. I'd also suggest a rescue group, and abort/desex. dear little thing.

How Do You Cope, When You Know Your Dog Is Dying
Monah replied to newfsie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I am so sorry. You have such lovely dogs, wonderful photos. Tobias is one of those very special dogs that come into your life. I have to say Iwould not cope either. Other posters have said wonderful and comforting words and I agree with them, even though it makes things no easier. Thank goodness for you! Tobias has the absolute best love and care he could ever have dreamt of. He looks incredibly happy I have been in a similar situation and found only by spending every minute possible with the dog was my way of coping. This did not make things any easier, but it did give me some comfort later.xxxxx Danielle, I lost a dog to a brain tumour too, I''m very sorry ,xxxxxx -
SHe may be better on her own if you are out, and safer re getting knocked over etc. I agree with bloods going to US, my vets do this routinely and there is a surprisingly fast response and the US is cheaper and better. She does sound suspiciously similar to one of my Lakelands who had a tumour. He ended up unable to walk in a straight line (veered off to the right) and also could only eat on one side of his mouth and held himself very oddly etc. He has some muscle wastage around the skull and alo had a voracious appetite that he had never had before, and, lost weight whilst eating more than ever. I had three weeks off work for his final 'time' and spent every single minute with him, he was PTS at home in my bed on his 12th birthday, not a day goes by that I do not miss my Happy Chappy. What a terrible time you are having. I'm very sorry. It does appear that something very serious is going on. Condolences about your grand father I do hope things improve for you. xxxxxxx to Tess xxxx

I too agree about wait and see for the MRI. I was under the impression that with both stroke and a brain tumour there is really only a 'make life as comfortable and painfree as poss.' treatment, esp with an elderly dog. Or course things may have changed in the last few years, but putting a sick dog through such a lot needs very careful thinking. I think I'd ask what the treament options would be before the MRI (if it turns out to be stroke or tumour) and what quality of life you could expect. If there is not a lot that could be done or if it is too invasive, (and if it were my dog) I'd prefer the rest of our time together to be spent with painkillers, hugs, kisses and lots and lots of time together. with strokes, often the dog can improve with a bit of time too. I really feel for you, ;) xxxxx

Love and best wishes to the dear girl.xxxxxx I've lost a dog to stroke and one to a brain tumour and both times it was very easy to diagnose, even for me before we got to the vet. BOth times one side of the body was heavily affected and with the tumour there was wasting of muscle tissue around the tumour site, of course this can vary between dogs. One was 12 and one 15. Hopefully it may be something else. She sounds like a wonderful girl who is very very loved. Love and hugs.xxxxxx

How Fussy Is Your Oh Pertaining To Dogs Inside The House
Monah replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
For the first several years I was with OH he was a PIG in the house and never even knew we owned such a thing as a mower or had a laundry, you know, the room where dirty clothes go (no , faeries do not place clean , ironed clothes on hangers ready for you to wear.......) ANYWAY, even though he was a crap untrained OH, he still cracked at dogs in the house. I'd never had outside pets and it really HURT, so I had them in when he was away, at work etc. Eventually, after a couple of years, I made it known that I would put up with just about anything, but the pets had to be INDOORS and seeing as he was rather juvenile and often acted like a 2 year old, I was 'in charge' of the kids. To enable this to work I did everything including carting water, landscaping acres, etc.(yes it does sound bad, but at least I got my own way with the things that are important to me, and I like knowing I can do everything anyway) In the last 3 or so years he has almost matured and is a great cook so he does the cooking sleeps with 4 cats, and 2 dogs, and I nearly (but not quite) have him trained in other areas. It has taken about 27 years, next time (never) I'm getting one that is ready to go and does not need hard work. Our dogs swim nearly every day so our place is always pretty filthy, just how I like it... -
Something To Cover The Gaps In Paling Fence.
Monah replied to Kaffy Magee's topic in General Dog Discussion
You can have palings put over the gaps. Or do it yourself. We have 'double' palings with no gaps. The fences here are like that for cost. It's cheap. I loathe it, no privacy etc. In darwin they have cyclone fencing for cyclones. The bamboo stuff is not bad, my mum has it. It does have a 'shelf' life though so if you want long term and tough, go with extra palings. xxx -
Fabulous endorsement. Lovely!!

Yes Steve, softly softly. I was originally invited and said I'd listen and offer advice later. Now it has become a very business like meeting (since yesterday!!) I will have to get my act together and tread carefully. The last thing I want is to get it all off on the wrong foot. xxxx
-
 Thanks so much for being so helpful! :D Steve, they have NO business plan or even any CLUE We've been in business for over 25 years and started several large clubs and I'm really :D and frustrated at how unorganised it all is, it would honestly make your hair curl, or even fall out.. thankyou again , I will be up late tonight doing up an agenda with all the relevent information. ATM no one even weems to know when and where and if a dog is about to be rehomed etc. all just doing their own thing. I have a feeling the council is aware of this (as you would be after communicating for even 5 mins with the group) and this is why they have decided to come to the meeting. I'm just glad they are showing an interest xxxx
