  1. easy to train, and I'm no trainer not that big, the boys are larger than the girls though. My girl is 36kg. she can do agility etc. and anything else. THey love to please, cannot handle any 'rough' training, her nickname is Baby and she's 4!! she's my Angel.
  2. Consider a Foxhound. My one and only Foxhound story. We had an exhibitor with a Foxhound next to us at Cooma the year before last. I think her name was Daisy. Anyhoo, we amused ourselves teaching Daisy to sit that weekend (not something show dogs necessarily learn to do on cue). Several months later, one of my fellow Daisy trainers met her again at a dog show. What did Daisy do when she saw my friend? She sat! I'm sold! wire vizs are also great and more laid back than vizs..
  3. perfect description! I wont tell mine about the comatose part though
  4. I'd love a foxhound and found all the ones I've met really lovely but, just as it's a gundog with an incredible temperament, I'm adding a spinone!! Our girl is magic with all dogs, esp. ones with 'issues'...
  5. I want to go to the UK... Realistically it wont happen, we had a bit of a 'Scottish' topic happening a while ago.. I'd love the freedom of no (or hardly any) snakes... had another in the pool last week, a different one to today. :D
  6. we do WAIT too. Roisin is not as good as Moo, she's a realy hunting dog, but using a 'fishwife' voice helps with her ;) we've made it through the day. Need a drink! bloody dogs.. Fifi, getting a tipple right now. ;) LM, no special dinner, she is already a blob :D but we have had even more kisses and chats today than normal.
  7. She's still fine so I should say not bitten. Now my excuse for not doing housework has vanished.. I'm not much of a trainer, but have been not negotiable with recall. She'll probably show me up oone day though, as long as it's not dangerous... thankyou for all the good thoughts. it's so helpful to just write it down,, I would have exploded into an anxiety fit otherwise!!xxx
  8. No it's fine Jaxx, I had not come across it before, but asked troy and all OK. All this time on DOL and I have no idea of the apps Moo still good, Scotland is looking better every day!!
  9. A doler emailed me just now, but I cannot email back, it is declined? I do not know the DOL name, or how I got an email and not a PM as my address is not available. It said it came from DOL though? so, glen, can you please PM me so I can reply? I can only reply with your DOL name. thanks. xxxx Moo still good, xxx
  10. Not a tiger or red belly, not any python either. It's a guess, but either a brown (I doubt it as the ones I have come accross before have been rather confrontational.... taipan, have had close encounters before and they are shy, just want to get away.. like this one whip snake, not deadly but very nasty bite, this snake was not as 'fast' as one, but may not have 'warmed' up yet. not an adder, apart from that, no idea. Vet has been very informative and I am confident of what to look for. I'm starting to relax a bit, but he said to keep watching her for a few hours. Did not see the snake strike, but they were both in the bushes when it rocketed out. I"m so pleased she is so good with recall as it took a few minutes to leave the garden and I had another dog on lead , otherwise I would have been able to grab her, but that was not necessary.
  11. Hackles, not shackles... They dont grow out of it.
  12. Had a great (not) few weeks. One dog had a major operation, expected, and I'm being the nurse. Other dog (daughter's but is here every day) ate something at a party (lollie tree, complete with PINS) he ate 23 pins has had major surgery but we had to wait a day for the ingestion to get to where it could be removed and just HOPE like crazy that he would live as he was not expected to. He has come through fantastically as he is super fit, 10 years old!! and now I have him here waiting for one final pin to come out as this one was too complicated.. I know it is in the right position as he had another xray yesterday, but it is very worrying. He is on a very strict, small diet with limited water and will take a long time to recover, huge operation... and the bill was tiny! The vets here are far too good to us, we were expecting a huge bill, out of hours, emergency, several xrays, hospital and drugs... THis morning, whilst babying the two 'cripples' along separately (all dogs have to be kept apart as they are not allowed to PLAY..) I had the third dog outside for the loo, one cripple on lead, and one indoors. The third dog flushed a big snake out of the bushes. and it then travelled over the garden to the fence. I screamed at my dog, calling COME!!! and as she is a good girl, she came immediately, even though the snake was very visible and wriggly :D Rushed to the neighbours as they have 4 kids and 2 dogs and the snake went to their place. BUT, I still do not know if she were bitten. I rang my vet at home, 6am. and had a long talk with him and have my girl here on my lap to wait and see. He is only 2 minutes away and i'm to take her there at the first 'sign'. SInce the week before Christmas I've been dealing with dog stuff, stressful stuff and I'm almost, but not quite, a complete cot case... Please cross your fingers for me and hope with me that she was not bitten.. I'm here alone with 3 high maintenance dogs ATM and I'm struggling a bit. I'll die if anything happens to my baby.
  13. I did think they might be too large. The lady who used to do quite a bit of agility with hers (she mostly shows now and has setters as well) used to train at the same club as me and we often sat in the same group at trials. They were always such happy dogs. I don't know if I ever saw them not wagging their tails :D Yep, gundog = constant waggy tail!!!! :D
  14. Love the oldies. What a great age she is. I'm very very sorry, you will miss her so much. Thinking of you all today,, with love.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Puppy sniffer, you too.xxxx One of my cats is 17, I'm getting quite frightened now. I love him so much.
  15. Me too :D I adore them though, they love life and people and everything.
  16. great toys, my girls both have birthdays this month......
  17. Large Musterlanders are lovely , but they are LARGE!! I thtink maybe too big for Huskis needs. ACDs do extremely well in dog sports, tracking, endurance, agility and flyball. Great all round dogs, don't wander, trustworthy and also terrific guard dogs, many people are wary of them. A well socialised (with other dogs) ACD, well bred, is absolutely delightful. Compact, no grooming, and very good looking too They are also very capable of being calm and patient (often gundogs need to be taught this ) and they are not clingy, like to be nearby but quite happy to sit outside for hours and just 'watch'. They grow up fast (mature quickly) where as some other breeds can take quite a while to behave in an adult manner. Mine 'brought up' the kids :D she was magic. I dont know if my cousin's dog is on youtube, Turbo from Cairns (female ) she's from ex. working lines. Might be on agility, but she does heaps of other stuff. smoothie girl, I LOVE your smooth collie!!!!!!!!!!
  18. She has been lucky with the rottie. How awful, poor little dog. He must be awfully stressed out and not know what he is suppossed to do. :D disgusting.
  19. all lovely breeds so hard to decide. I'd have a GSP personally. sounds like a wonderful life for any lucky dog!! The first couple of years of all those breeds can be quite challenging ;) :D Keep that in mind... When they reach adulthood though, all would be wonderful (if trained) Weis are quite large and very strong, I guess all are strong really. Some GSDs have a lot of coat too, so prickles and hair tumbleweeds... You've probably already thought of all this. GSPs are a lovely breed, Thought about a vizsla?? ;) I think Fiona has a great idea. check out the breed forums (where you'll also see the naughty things they all get up to!!) :D
  20. that doesnt' leave many HPRs... spinone, bracco?? I'm waiting for OH to 'let' me have a Bracco. He says no more dogs, so maybe I'll have to get a divorce instead. wanted one for many years now!! spins are furry, all the Griffons are. Korthals Griffon? or slovakian rough haired pointer? very nice!! I also like the Cesky Fousek, great gundog and I'm sure there are breeders in NZ (beautiful!!) wire vizss are stunning and great temperaments. fantastic dogs. another on my list!! absolutely adorable... I can't see a Spin or Bracco doing agility.., and Griffons, Slovakian Pointers and Wire Viz are all a bit wiry (so are Spin actually) It leaves Brittany's, LM and that we don't have in Aus GLP's, Small Munsterlanders, Kooikerhondje(although they are a tolling breed) and Stabyhoun spins and braccos do agility a DOLER on here had a lovely spin who did agility and mine does too
