  1. I know the Eeeeek feeling, I am expecting a min 8 newfys but possibly more. She is huge and still just under 4 weeks to go! I have a second scan booked for tomorrow, ordered some coloured colars and arranging helpers.. Good luck, fingers crossed you have 9 solid pups
  2. I looked at Trans cervical to avoid putting my girl under anisthetic but as I also had semen bought in from the USA , 5 years ago, it is in straws and I was told by 2 repo vets, trans cervical can only be done with pellets...? Good Luck
  3. I was always going to be a breeder. My parents fell into breeding 40+ years ago as they purchased a very nice bitch that the breeder decided to show and breed from. I was fascinated with genetics and pedigrees from a very young age and was encourged by the breeder of my parents bitch. I dont have the same breed now, and dont breed often. I love the strive for perfection of health and confirmation. I love my chosen breed. Though there are day I say never again.
  4. I was going to say a sloth of Newfys, thats what I have after such a hot day At swim time its a Nautical of Newfs
  5. is anyone else feeding Holistic Select , same as ealge pack but new name bag etc. Is the supply more reliable?
  6. Had a scan done yesterday, min of 8 but likely more. So success for Anvet and Annette Page!
  7. Add me , Newfoundlands, confirmed by ultra sound, 29th March
  8. I have done a surgical AI on my girl, from USA dog, scan to confirm pregnancy tomorrow. fingers crossed. This was done at ANVET beenleigh with Annette Page assisting. Annette has done some surgical and fresh for a friend of mine all successful matings. The price I was quoted by Annette for surgical AI was $750 incl 4 progs, ANVET was $600 for surgical AI and 4 progs and in my case Annette did it anyway
  9. It must be a error. Newfys do take much more grroming than a GR. I would groom about 4 hours per dog per week easy.
  10. I dont have personal experience with an animal being reated but the race horse industry and now greyhound racing have been using it for some time with success. I do know of some dogs that have shown great results after a short time. The cost per treatment at my vet is only $2000. At that price I would try it.
  11. Rowan is great. Also ANVET beenleigh is now doing sten cell regeneration and having great success I hear . The price is quite realistic too.
  12. Good luck, calling on the puppy fairies to be good to you
  13. I must come clean on miss naming abreed at a show a few weeks back, I said Izbian but it was a Pharaoh hound. It was in a crate lying down, please forgive me I did apologise when the owner advised that it was way too small to be an Izbian.
  14. I am often told I have Black Saint Bernards not to mention the usual bears, horses, gorillas and once was TOLD the newfy was a big long haired black Lab. But hey what would I know???
  15. My OH builds Caravans, Motor homes and dog trailers, They are all predominately white for a reason, heat reflection and visability. You can do it up with some really cool stripes and decals to make it individual. Would love to see photos when you have done it up. Get creative!
  16. Gunna B a Hurrican Hurrican Sonny Son ova Hurrican Gunna Hurri Hurricans and Guns
  17. Hot spots are a fungal tinea like infection and can get really nasty. I use an anticeptic powder from the chemist, works a treat and clears up very quickly. I had a dog with huge allergy problems and was advised to switch him to Advance sensitive. I was not sure as I felt I had tried everything, all fish based foods etc. I did change him to Advance after seeing an older girl who I know had chronic skin probs, and looked amazing in a month and within 3 weeks I had a different dog! I was amazed. I recomended this to another newfy owner 2 weeks ago and she emailed me today to say that already she is seeing a huge difference, her dog was previously on Pro Plan sensitive with not real changes. She is very happy and so is the dog. I also give fish oil, vit E and zinc. Could be worth a try for you..
  18. Thanks for all the answers. I have not had to have a cesarian done for some years and was totally unsure what the "average price is" but am looking at a possible elective for a planned litter. Just dont want a huge shock I was expecting $1000 to $1200 and really that has not change too much over the years and a fair price. I have not spoken to my vet as yet, as on holidays. $950 for an emergency! excellent price!
  19. I show and I use to volunteer alot , stewarding, commitees, sourceing sponsership and prizes, canteen etc. Over the last few years time and work have effected my ability to do this. It does take alot of time and commitment. I support more atm by buying raffle tickets, support the canteens and events . I do intend to go back to volunteering in the future and really appreciate those that do. We should all remember to thank stewards and card writers at every show. We could not do it without them.
  20. I am interestd in the range of costs for an elective or within busines hours cesarian on a large breed. Also 28 day scans, what do you pay?
  21. While newfs are very trainable and some can and will do agility, not all can and will do it, the walk and tunnel are difficult for dogs of 60 to 80 kg. IMHO I dont think it is the right fit in this situation due to size. My newfs are very active, fit, social, laid back and well mannered but smaller dogs are offten put off by the size of them. A visla does sound like a good match for both you and Toby. To throw something else into the mix..a Puli? Very trainable, great at dog sports. about 15kg????
