You're right near me! I highly recommend Trudi and Julie at dogLogic - they run it through Petbarn or at the doggy day care place on Cleveland St (For Dog's Sake?). They are delta trained. The good thing about using these guys is that they are all instructors at Leichhardt Obedience (at Cafe Bones) which is one of the closest obedience clubs to Camperdown. The classes are good - there is no free for all between puppies - that one comes at week 3 I think. There is also a number of trainers in the room so everyone gets one on one time when doing exercises etc.

Jed - I have read of a sibe who that happened to. There has also been a report with a dane. Like you - I can't discount it as a possibility therefore avoid the practice owning a bloat prone breed.
-
From what I have read, the extreme coldness of the ice can cause muscle spasms in the dog which can lead to bloat in susceptible breeds - particularly when the dog is hot.
-
I used them for an immune mediated issue and saw no improvement.

You may want to talk to sas and stormie from here - they have looked at alternative remedies for allergies.

Look carefully next time you come up for renewal. This is when they change the inclusions, benefits etc. I have never had any problem with the before this and that's why I was so angry I'm going to look into further. I also noticed that I have been overcharged by $372.00 at the specialists. Have had the shingles, so haven't been concentrating but I can see that I will have to look at everything very carefully Hi You may have missed my question - how much have you claimed this year and for this illness in all the years?

There is a function on the internet called Google. It holds many more answers than DOL.

Yes they play their own game but they still have to convince a court. What I meant was look at what the law defines as cruelty and then ensure that any dogs debarked are done according to the regulations, dogs with heritable defects not bred from, kennel conditions adequate, any natural tails documented by vets etc.

I found hill and sand work useful for building muscle on the hind legs.

Until we know what's going on, how much confidence we have is irrelevant. Someone had enough evidence of an offence to convince a judge to issue a warrant. That warrant has been served. Lets see who, if anyone is charged and what they're charged with. Those who've stayed within the law should sleep soundly. Others may sweat but the fact is that the RSPCA can only enforce the law that's on the books. To be ignorant or disregarding of that is what will put people in the RSPCA's crosshairs, And frankly not all those who find themselves targetted will be folk I'd want defend. Lets wait and see. Agreed. If they are in fact chasing breeders who have knowingly bred dogs with heritable defects then perhaps it is time that this caught up with them and serves as a warning to others who following similar practices. This action, as well as Judy Gard's case, should be causing all breeders and exhibitors to step back for a moment and ensure that their practices are above scutiny and this is not necessarily a bad thing.

How much have you claimed this policy year or for this particular illness in the years the dog has had it? I checked the PDS too and it may be you have reached the benefit limits? That or it was for an excluded condition? Have you tried calling them to ask why?

How would a 2 year old get a chance? Any interaction between a 2 year old and a puppy should be very closely supervised. How do you see a puppy and a 2 year old bonding?

In around 18 months I claimed back around $6,000 in return for $800 in premiums (that was 2 years premiums). Having the comfort of insurance meant I did not have to think twice about vet visits, medication etc knowing I would get 80% back within 2 weeks from claim. With my cat's policy - recovered his premium and more with one bout of what turned out to be gastro.

Erny I am glad there has been progress for your boy! I know what you mean re sneaking food in - I have been teaching a pivot heel and use that to get tucker time into him on the sly (as well as it being a useful trick for hiding tablets!) We had a great response here and then 3-4 days later got lumps again - the thing in common from the 2 times was a trip to the same park - whether it is the grass or the fleas from the park I don't know. He improved reasonably quickly from that and has been ok other than having very flaky skin randomly the other day. There have been several changes of food - Royal Canin, Eagle Pack and Proplan without change. Now he is pretty much done growing and once I get a chest freezer I am going to move to a more raw diet I think.

First and foremost - my vet and vet nurse. I do not care what their clinic looks like as pretty paint on the walls will not affect the service or care they give my animals. I actually have to steal sas' list as it is exactly what I think (even the last bit!): In addition 5) I get a vet and vet nurse who go above and beyond simply treating your animal - they genuinely care and will do everything they can to help including spending their own time learning more about your dog's condition. 6) I get a clinic that does not push food or products and has decent knowledge of training, nutrition. 7) I get a clinic that is open to change - such as titres, vax protocols etc and will support your decisions. 8) I get a clinic that knows my breed. I think my dog's reaction says a lot - he gets so excited when we pull into the driveway of the vet and almost turns himself inside out when he sees my vet and vet nurse. My vet especially can do anything to him and he just lets him - nails, blood tests etc

Even if it has only been mentioned it still may be considered a pre-existing condition. If you have not made full disclosure to the insurer when taking out the policy then they can refuse the claim and cancel the policy.

Vnv - Clyde bet me to it in recommending PAX's kennels. She is in much the same area. I trust her implicitly with Boo. I was worried when I first boarded him as he is not a confident dog, sleeps on the bed, struggles to keep weight on, is a breed prone to bloat (which can be 'caused' by stress) etc He got lots of outdoor and play time, can take toys and own bedding and they get fed a great diet. I think it was a great sign that when we went back for the 2nd time, he bounced out of the car happy to see Pax, raced around the yard and happily went into his pen. A number of DOLers use her kennels.

Virgin have charged more than $10 for at least the last 4-5 years.

Puppy / Breeder Groups From Dol Listings?
Danois replied to Sticks1977's topic in General Dog Discussion
A number of breeders have Yahoo lists for their puppy buyers to update them with news and share information with other litter mate owners. They can be fantastic for support if you hit health issues. Perhaps see if the breeder does this? I don't see it having a place on DOL. -
Wow! She is a big girl. Please come and join the dane thread in the Breed Subforum (under General) - lots more dane owners, breeders and exhibitors frequent there. I have an 18 month old boy who is around 55kg and is about 82cm from memory - he is hard to put weigh on though. Danes can look quite awkward sitting and many will go into a drop. Have you taken her to a chiropractor or muscle man - sometimes when they are growing and being crazy they can put their backs out easily. Was she tender when the vet examined her spine? It is not normal for a dane to be uncomfortable in a sit due to their size - awkward looking but not struggling with it. Also - have a chat with your breeder as they may assist.

Angs had it.

What a good boy! We had a GSD when I was growing up and lived on an orchard - his favourite activity was chasing rabbits. One day he disappeared into the shrubbery and came out with a tiny stray kitten which he gave to Mum. After that Shade and Sam (kitten) were inseparable and we have pics of Sam curled up on top of Shade's head between the ears.
