  1. Could you try and call SASH Vets on 1300 368 430 for advice?
  2. I'm considering it. Just out of interest, Leelaa you're going to bring Jenna but in another thread you said: This is what puts me off coming - dogs who should not be there. Surely if you know she does not like strange dogs then its better for her not to be put into the situation which will cause her anxiety/ stress?
  3. I iz the Easter Bunnydane - I haz the ears and see me hop!
  4. Agree with Crisovar - you're dog is on an elimination diet by the sounds of things so adding in anything else will affect that. Some short term leanness should not hurt the dog. Perhaps best to speak to the vet or dermatologist who is taking you through the allergy testing.
  5. I think the myth busting website - is it Snopes? has dismissed this one already.
  6. My first dane was desexed young (around 5 months) and he was a tall leggy boy. I think desexing later rather than earlier is more of an issue for the larger breeds.
  7. I would not be leaving her in the backyard unsupervised (as you've said you're doing) unless you have extremely high fences and even then, that's no guarantee another entire male will not scale the fence.
  8. I don't agree with people taking balls/ toys to use in dog parks especially when they're busy. There will always be dogs who resource guard or fight over toys. It just adds in a whole extra dynamic which can lead to fights.
  9. Their sale price is $104 (excluding delivery). I usually pay around $110 locally.
  10. Try Megz - she was there today.
  11. I have fed grain free to 2 dogs now and in both cases I have feed about 1/3 - 1/4 less.
  12. I know how you feel. Diagnosis for my dog was lameness and possible OCD/HOD but it was immune mediated polyarthritis. 3 years later I still wonder if it would have ended differently if it had been picked up a year earlier.
  13. And if it bleeds you know you've gone too far! When you're getting used to them it pays to keep a cake of soap or a small bowl of cornflour or stypic pencil handy otherwise the dog will follow you around the house when you're trying to find one of these and leave blood everywhere I always make sure the feet are clean i.e. no dirt under the nails before cutting.
  14. RIP Noah - a truly magnificent dane who I have long admired. My thoughts are with Sue - they leave a damn big hole in your heart. Another star shines bright in the sky.
  15. The opinions you are going to get here are going to be slanted in a particular way because the majority here are pretty dog savvy and can (hopefully) do a reasonable job reading a dog's body language. However, if you are not dog savvy then your reaction to, and understanding of, a dog's body language may be vastly different. Think of how many times people comment - 'oh they're fighting' when seeing 2 dogs play rough and you can respond with 'no, they just play like that' - 2 different people see the same situation differently. (I have not watched the video)
  16. I'd rather a dog at the table next door than a smoker
  17. Did you have bloodwork done? I had a dog with a limp (and swollen hock) and had several courses of rimadyl without resolution. There was something bigger going on with him and this was the manifestation of it (IM Polyarthritis). Obviously much much less likely than muscular or arthritis.
  18. Big fan of the Chillydogs coats here too - I've always brought direct from the maker in Canada. Boo has 2 chillydog sweaters - 1 I got for him and the other belonged to my last dane so it must be 3 years old now and its still in excellent condition despite being washed frequently. Am about to order the Great North from them.
  19. However the majority of councils have a local government law that removes this right.
  20. My dog is almost permanently in bed He does what he wants. In the evening he either sleeps on his bed in the lounge, on the couch beside me or goes on to my bed. If he's out with me he'll follow me to the bedroom and go on his bed. He comes up on the bed in the early hours. Most mornings he stays in bed until after I have had a shower and start making sounds in the kitchen. Today his routine was - went to bed about midnight, got up some time in the night for a feed and pee, back to bed until 11am, moved to the couch, moved back to the bed, moved to the couch and by 3pm had not gone outside or eaten. Between 3pm and 7pm he went outside and stole some cupcakes off the bench in my absence . Since 7pm he ate dinner and has been asleep on the couch or his bed. It's a tough life
  21. Yes Especially when my last dog was pale and I have about 4 (rather expensive) doona covers in cream or white as well as sheets in those colours. I now have a black dog who sheds... I am stuck though - if I buy dark it shows up the ginger cat fur (he's a fluffy cat) and if I buy light then it shows dog hair. Same issue with rugs.
  22. Mine get Yoplait plain yoghurt for breakfast but just about go into raptures over Gippsland vanilla yoghurt. They know the difference between it and any other yoghurt and I don't blame them. It is the best I have ever tasted too. Its the Gippsland natural one here.
  23. I find the natural yoghurt is more popular. Parmesan cheese also works a treat sprinkled on the food. Unfortunately I now cannot get yoghurt or parmesan out of the fridge without someone getting excited! Maccas soft serve is good to try icecream wise.
  24. Might pay to give him a call and get one put aside. I got 2 - a big water bowl and the next size down for food. I then had to cart them from the dog pavillion over to P1 - not fun! Did you check out the danes too?
