  1. You could try the grain free range from Canidae? My last dog constantly had loose stools but improved massively on a grain free food.
  2. I have a 60kg dog who loves being in contact... As a pup he was very big on sleeping on the pillows near my head and his has continued (he's now coming up 3). I will frequently wake up with him hard against my back or front - he arrives by stealth in the night! Its a bit harder to miss when he sits on you trying to get more pillow room. On the upside - he radiates lots of warmth! He will frequently come and sit beside me on the couch - usually doing the whole dane sit with feet on the ground and lean against me for a cuddle. If I'm standing, sometimes he'll come and sit beside me and smooch me with his head. So yeah - he's a sooky cuddler
  3. Was this advice from your vet (i.e. that there is an outbreak)? There are many strains of KC so while the vax may cover some of the strains, it can't cover them all.
  4. Why pull up an old story? Given your thread the other day it seems like you're trying to justify your (over) reaction by dredging up an old story to say 'see I told you so'
  5. Another recommendation for PAX's kennels here. PM her through here.
  6. If you're flying with the dog then there is no need to use people like Dogtainers - you lodge the animal before the flight and collect it after you land. One thing to bear in mind (especially with VB) is that you need to lodge the dog a lot earlier than your own check-in so factor that into your timing.
  7. More than likely linked to the fact the dog is an allergic dog.
  8. Ah - they might be allowed in the Qantas terminal again (about 5 years ago I had to lodge at AAE) but they're not allowed in the VB one.
  9. Gunky eyes, infections, loose stools - as well as the itching etc are common in allergic dogs and you'll find most dogs will get worse with ages, not better. You would do well to get a referral to a dermatologist - they'd guide you on a proper elimination diet. Please think very very carefully about rehoming a dog with allergies - as a number of people here will be able to attest to, living with and treating an allergic dog can be very hard on the owners and very expensive.
  10. Dogs are NOT allowed in the Sydney terminal. VB freight is about 10 mins walk from the terminal and all dogs must be lodged there and collected from there. AAE is a couple of minutes away from the terminal and again, all dogs are lodged/ collected from there.
  11. Regardless of what the NT law says, local government can make their own laws restricting numbers of dogs permitted for example.
  12. - What is the best airline to fly on when traveling with a dog? ITS EITHER VB OR QANTAS - LAST TIME I FLEW A DOG THEY CHARGED DIFFERENTLY I.E. ONE WAS FREIGHT AND THE OTHER WAS EXCESS BAGGAGE SO MIGHT PAY TO CHECK - How do I go about hiring an airline crate, I don't want to buy one as I won't use it enough HIRE FOR DOGTAINERS OR JETSET PET ETC - If it's really cold when you are flying them, can you put them in a jumper or that not recommended/allowed? NOT ALLOWED - WHERE THEY ARE STOWED IS TEMP CONTROLLED - Assuming they fly without a collar on, do you take their collar and leash with you in your carry on luggage? I HAVE ALWAYS LEFT A COLLAR ON. LEASH IN LUGGAGE. - When flying with your dog, what doggy things do you pack to take away with you? WET ONES ARE HANDY - IN CASE OF ANY ACCIDENTS IN THE CRATE (BEFORE YOU PUT THEM IN THE CAR) - If you are flying with your dog, is it correct that they are classed as excess baggage? Does this mean you can still take a suitcase with you? YES - Can you bring bedding to put in the crate with them? I don't want her sitting in a hard crate with no softness to sit on NO - THEY ARE ON NEWSPAPER. (sorry for the caps!)
  13. My last dane was pale in colour (a blue fawn) and people had no hesitation in approaching him etc - he was a big boy too - about 85cm to the shoulder and 75kg. My current dane is black, much the same height and 60kg and people are a lot more hesitant about approaching him and ask if he's friendly etc I have also had people walk out on the road to avoid walking past him - despite me putting him into a heel before they even get close to me. I have noticed a number of people from an Asian background have seemed scared of him.
  14. I think the ears make it look more like a kelpie x - GSDs have bigger 'softer' ears. If you look on the breed pages on the main Dogzonline site there will be a lot of GSD profiles you can use as a reference.
  15. Oh those are great! Perfect for small houses! I will have to get one. I'm so jealous of all of you with cupboards and even rooms (!) for your dog stuff. I have one little basket full of doggy crap stuffed into the laundry cupboard, and her leads and doggy bags are in the (purely decorative) front fireplace. Toys? Everywhere!! Our floor is constantly littered with shoes and squeaky balls- Honey must always be transporting something in her mouth from one room to the next. That's why I like it! Typical bungalow - has no storage! I still have to get my organiser - I gave one previously as a gift and now need to get myself one. At the moment I have 2 of those Ikea cubes in the corner of the lounge with toys in them, the tall cupboard in the kitchen has the tin of dog food (holds 15kg), treat containers (I have recycled the Jollie tins I've bought) on the kitchen window ledge, basket of meds in the kitchen cupboard, a big shelf in the laundry which has dog towels and shampoos, lotions and potions and basket in the hall table which has the poo bag stash and collars - nail clippers *should* be here too but I keep misplacing them, hook outside on the veranda has leads and collar and drawer in the built in has his coats and big tub on wheels in the built in has blankets, rugs etc :D
  16. http://shop.jollie.com.au/p/1186511/yep-yu...iser-flare.html I like these from Jollie for keeping things organised.
  17. Well blow me down - someone who comes to a dog forum for dog talk! Send Troy a PM and he'll come to your rescue.
  18. Try PMing Stormie (from dane thread) - although that is Pennant Hills.

  20. Oh! You mean his penis is out of the sheath? Normal.
  21. Looking at past years' photos, people don't seem too crowded - I was more questioning the wisdom of putting a dog which is aggressive around strange dogs amongst a hell of a lot of strange dogs. I'd hope people would not let their dogs just bowl up to other dogs and get in their faces.
  22. Larger breeds need to be grown slow and steady so a quality kibble is important - no shortcuts on cheap food as you'll pay for it later. The breeder will be the best source of information re most appropriate food.
  23. Now that's just irresponsible Rozzie!
  24. Sounds like the dog was alone in the car for a short period of time only I left mine in the car for about 10 mins the other day (late afternoon) while I was picking out something in a shop a few metres away and only left one window down a few cms - I must be irresponsible. Also - IMO, you should never leave dogs in a car with windows down enough for them to get their heads out - accident waiting to happen.
