Her colouring (and conformation) is similar to the GSD we had 15+ years ago called Keisha. She went out to bed in her kennel at night (chained up) but usually got the run of the house when we went out for guarding. During the day she was out in the orchard with my parents. She was a great deterrent to those randoms who used to come down the drive or turn up in the orchard (supposedly lost LOL) - joys of rural living!

We were not there in the end Tdx as the person with all the stuff for the stand and the stand was ill. By your description you met Lauren and those pups and her adult are all under the warpaint prefix.

That's just one dog Not sure I quite understand how that refutes the argument that large breeds should only be desexed over 12 months.

I never saw any dogs there in my days I loved walking down beside the creek from the Student Union around to the Law School - especially in autumn. Eve more off topic - hope it all made it through the quake ok.

I would not be bringing my dog - there will be a lot of dogs there already being shown or on breed stands - bit hard to look at other dogs while trying to wrangle your own.

We got a gorgeous adult purebred GSD for free from the papers when I was in school - she was a great family dog, guard dog and spent the day out in the orchard with my parents. She was PTS at 11 due to her hips going. Our next dog was also a GSD who was free via my BIL - he was a big boy and was a police dog school drop out (due to the size of his feet!). He was PTS at 12 due to a stomach full of tumours.

Boo is good - most nights he goes in and warms the bed for me but he is also very quick to steal my spot if I get up during the night! He sleeps on the floor in summer and its a sure sign its cooling down when he moves back to the bed. I went to sleep last night with him tucked against my back - nice and warm!

This is how it is in my house: I get the bit on the left and then have to share the pillow with the cat! His morning routine is - lift his head when I get out of bed, waits to make sure I am not coming back and turns around to move into the warmth of where I was. This also means he has a line of sight to the bathroom. I get completely ready for work including a couple of trips into the bedroom. Once I am making sounds in the kitchen he comes out and takes up position on the couch until I have things ready. Comes and dances around for his treat ball which he gets when I leave. Very very strong suspicion that onces he's done with that its back to bed...

Wouldn't be so bad If they spent a little to Improve their high euth among other things there too True but as far as I know, they don't have any statutory obligations which must be complied with in that regard. Adherence to OH&S/ WComp is one of those not negotiable aspects of running a workplace.

I'd say therein lies your problem with trying to get breeders to come on board with a bitch. You have no prefix and have only been in the breed 10 months and have an immature dog. You're an unknown - who is to say you're a backyard breeder? Get a prefix, do the time studying the breed and breed standard - you should known this almost verbatim, get out to shows - not necessary to show but to learn what is an excellent example of the breed, join your canine council and breed clubs, learn how to critique those dogs, find a mentor in your breed and learn from them including whelping a litter or 2 with them, if you have a breed with colours then learn about genetics and I'm sure experienced breeders will be able to add further things to cross off the list before getting 2 dogs of the same breed and letting them mate.

Their workplace is very different to an office environment and I can imagine it is one which needs careful consideration to OH&S issues including induction, safe work method statements, training etc. Its not only administration of their OH&S plans but also development of it - especially important at the moment with changes ahead within OH&S. The role also deal with management of workers comp - this is quite time consuming. Its only a 2-3 day a week job not fulltime. Its also a role which employers cannot afford to ignore as the consequences for non-compliance are quite high including jail time for directors if there is a breach. Perfectly reasonable IMO

Australian Road Rules make it illegal to lead a dog alongside a bike on the road.

IMO You would not get a ticket for negligent driving for having a dog unrestrained in the car. Neg Driving is the offence created by section 42 of the Road Transport (Safety and Management) Act 1999 in NSW. The police would have to prove (beyond reasonable doubt) you drove a vehicle in a manner which was a departure from the standard of care that an ordinary prudent driver would exercise in the circumstances. This is the 'test'which was set out in Simpson's case from 1952. I highly doubt the police would go down this path and instead you would receive a ticket for breach of the relevant Road Rule. Other than that, my opinion is that the RSPCA's advice is, legally, incorrect. I think that if you got a ticket for having a dog in the back of the car it would be easily open to challenge in the courts.
