Did they quote the Road Rule they were relying on? Last time I went through the Road Rules the only mention of animals in the car was dogs on the back of utes and dogs in laps.
-
Search here as they have been several topics recently. It is not against the law to have a dog unrestrained in the car- it is against the law to have a dog which interferes with the driver's control. If someone got a ticket for not having them in a harness etc then they're an idiot for not taking it to court and challenging it.

I feed Canidae and don't have a dog bouncing off the walls. No different energy levels compared to when he was on other foods. The higher protein level is the result of no fillers, grains etc

IMO, a breeder who has registered over 50 puppies (in a breed which does not produce overly large numbers in a year) a year (and leaving aside the large number of other puppies who are born out of that breeder's stock) will attract my criticism especially when you see the quality of some of the puppies being produced. Even more so when other breeding practices (of which there is evidence) can be called into question.

Why be incensed at the publication of the stats? If they're doing the right thing then they have nothing to be worried about. It is neither a criticism nor condemnation to simply draw together stats and present them as a big picture - it is simply a statement of fact. And just maybe, those in the know are well aware of the breeding practices of some breeders. Just a thought I had...

Face Swollen - Likely To Be An Allergic Reaction
Danois replied to **Super_Dogs**'s topic in General Dog Discussion
This is what happened when my boy got bitten. He got cortisone at home and then to the vets for anti-histamine and more cortisone from memory. (This is looking down under his head - that's his nose at the bottom). -
The idea of the hubby's office is a bad one - you are punishing a puppy for being confused and lonely. I would be dropping a note to the neighbours to tell them you have a new puppy. I would have the crate in the bedroom so pup can see you. Put yourself in the pup's shoes - first night away from mum and littermates, had the unsettling moves of a flight and new home and then in the middle of the night - wakes up in strange place without those comforts. You'd be screaming too. So - move the crate to the bedroom, start as you mean to go on (i.e no dog on bed if that's what you want) and let the neighbours know. Also - your comment re crating pup in the crate if you have to leave her home so she does not destroy things. A dog should not be left crated alone for long periods of time.

Don't let it stop you - I say the issue is the delivery company they use in NSW (Allied Express) and you're in another state.

I had been using Pookinuk but have had major issues with their delivery people - food was sent out with the driver and not delivered on the 25th. They then lost it. No reply from Pook to a few emails and a call over 4 business days (and a weekend). New bag of food was supposed to be delivered Friday and was marked 'urgent delivery' and delivery people did not deliver it and returned it to depot...

You'll find a few threads in the Health subforum as this has been discussed many a time. I feed Canidae and find it easy to get hold off - a couple of local stockists and can order online.

Labrador Bowling Ball Skittles Owner At The Beach
Danois replied to Mrs Rusty Bucket's topic in General Dog Discussion
My 60kg dog skittled (at speed) someone and she hit the deck but was thankfully fine. She was not paying attention and walked straight in front of him as he was playing chase with another dog and there was no way he could pull up in time. -
I felt like telling him to bring his dog over to mine and I'd show him what would happen if my dane nibbled his dog! Oh! And he told me off for using offensive language - I may have said 'get your f&* dog away from him before I kick it away'...

I will miss you Chantie You were ever optimistic that you would get a tidbit when we were having a cup of tea on the couch and you were such a gentle affectionate girl with a gorgeous soul. Angs won't mind if you steal his pig's ears when he's not looking. xxx

I've started doing something about it when my dog gets attacked - generally nothing can be done other than making a report due to lack of details but at least there is a report. I'd had enough of a GSD who stalked and rushed (and attacked once) - I knew where they lived so they got a warning. Reported two small dogs (IG or Whips) and a ACD/RR cross who rushed and attacked him 2 weeks ago - they came around a corner and just rushed us. Owner did nothing and told me my dog was big enough to look after himself and that it was only a nibble (ah no, skin was broken).... Luckily my dog has always bounced back but how long will I be lucky for? I sadly seem to have a dog who has a target on his head but he does nothing to draw the attention.

There is a lot of difference between a lab and a giant breed ;)
-
Danes/ giant breeds are a bit different than the norm. There is no harm really in desexing early - you might end up with a leaner, leggier dane as a result. Most breeders I have come across and certainly my own view is to let them have a season first (if it is a girl obviously) and wait for them to finish critical growth at around 12-18 months. However it may also depend on how your dane is handling their hormones - I was lucky with my boy and he sailed into teenager land without any issues but I know of others who have had a harder time with their danes handling their hormones. It will also turn on how you think you can handle having an entire dog weighing 50kg+ i.e. being able to keep a female inside when she is in season i.e no walks, no unsupervised time in the yard or being able to hold on to an entire male who gets wind of a female in season or decides to/ has another dog initiate a tiff. I would get to 9 months and then play it by ear based on how things are travelling with your dane. PS - you should come and join us in the Dane Thread in the Breed Subforums (Under General).

Does Anyone Know Where This Lead Came From?
Danois replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
Actualy I think she missed out a letter instead of making a spelling mistake ;) -
Depends what breed you have. If you have a deep chested breed (i.e. prone to bloat) then it is suggested that you do not feed an hour either side of exercise.

I was thinking 4Paws too as I have a leather one from them sold through here - and remember rubber bands. -

How's he going WP? -
I believe a number of breeders have elected to use the short form Stafford to distinguish themselves from the BYBers pumping out badly bred, barely resembling, bred for colour dogs who advertise as having 'Staffys for sale'.
