I can imagine it would be a hard job, but someone's got to do it. She is adorable.

We have two Alaskan Malamutes and they do ok in summer. We do have air conditioning though and we just limit their walks in Summer. We only go very early in the morning or quite late of an evening and if it's been an absolute stinker then they miss out and don't go.

Weird Habitual Behaviour During Walks
Malamum replied to samoyedman's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think it's just habit too, especially if you do the same route every day. We do about 3 or 4 different routes and Kira knows them all. She is such a good walker that I let her walk out in front on a lose leash and she knows exactly where to go and which way to turn at intersections etc. Both of them also always remember which houses have cats and where we have seen possums in the past. As we go past those houses they instantly go on high alert and start looking for the cat or look up in the trees for the possum. -
Much to the OH's embarrassment I bawled throughout the entire movie, loud gasping sobs and we were at the cinema, not at home. I started crying as soon as they led the dogs out for the first time and he looked at me and asked why I was crying as nothing bad had even happened yet. My answer was that it was like Titanic, I knew what was going to happen. I think I got all my crying out in that first watch. It didn't help that the lead dog Maya, looks exactly like my girl Kira. I have it on DVD and can now watch it without crying at all.

Look What I Got To Play With On The Weekend
Malamum replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
oh wow, cutest puppy ever. -
I've never watched this show before and now I know why. It was on when I was getting my nails done last night so I was a captive audience and I was sitting there steaming. So much crap was spouted in that show it wasn't funny.

They look very cute and don't detract from the look of your room either. You will have to post some action pictures of them in use once the dogs get used to them. If it were me I would sit in the middle of bed with lots of treats and also put a treat on each step, and then be tough and don't help them up, force them to use the steps if they want to come up.

I also just use cheap freezer bags - don't even bother with zip lock bags. When defrosting they go in a bowl with a paper towel underneath to soak up any leakage. However I do try and put the bag opening side up so any blood or liquid stays in the bag rather than seeping out.

At the first group photo I said to myself "oh look how good they all are - where is the puppy?" then scrolled down one photo and there she is trying to get a cheeky lick in.
-
We just sprinkle over food and don't really mix it with anything. Indy will then lick the bowl till it's all gone. He will not under any circumstances touch the chewable treats though. He clamps his mouth shut and won't have a bar of them. Plus they are really expensive and at Indy's size he would need quite a few of them to get the necessary dose. I think I only bought them as we'd run out of powder and I had some on backorder so bought the treats in the interim. Total waste of money. He's been on joint guard for at least 3 years now and it really does help him. For the first year or so we did morning and nightly doses. We've now cut back to once a day.

Our Latest Addition... Fable - Finnish Lapphund Puppy
Malamum replied to TerraNik's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Wow she is cute! -
Yep, we have one drooler here too. Indy creates a pool on the floor while he is waiting for his dinner. Kira is too lady like to drool. Tell me about it. A pool or dog drool and ugg boots don't mix. I have almost slipped over more times than I can remember.

What a beautiful tribute. I'm so sorry for your loss.

my oh my, he sure does and the waists are thinner too. Sorry but I think they are bullsh$t. I would be hoping that those brides asked for the "instant fat reduction" or I'd be peeved. On the chick in the desert setting, she looked fine before, his editing makes her look grossly thin. Also the chick in the long slim white gown. She had a nice figure before with nice hips and curves and then he made her practically anorexic! I agree she shot and composition are nice but the editing in some of them is plain ridiculous. This type of stuff is all a matter of opinion and mine is 180 degrees different to yours. I loved the edits and would like that done to my wedding photos. I don't think anyone looked so drastically different they have a hope in hell of forgetting what they look like or feeling like it wasn't them. Wedding photos are generally photos people like to have on display and look at over and over again. If I could have any lumps and bumps smoothed out then I'd be all for it.

Neither of my two react to anything on the TV at all.

Poll- How Many Dogs And If You Work Full Time
Malamum replied to jazawayaya's topic in General Dog Discussion
Both the OH and I work full time and have 2 dogs. We are away from the house Monday to Friday for 10 - 12 hours a day. -
They look so sweet and innocent - like butter wouldn't melt in their mouths.
-
Wow, all the photos are just amazing!
-
He is adorable. Congratulations.

They will get there eventually. I started off with using treats and luring our dogs through then after doing that for a bit, switched to giving them no other way to go out. Indy got it quickly. As soon as I put my hand on the handle of the sliding glass door he turns around and bolts for the dog door so he can beat me outside. Kira on the other hand is a different kettle of fish. Not sure if she it stupid or just lazy. Every single time she will try and come out the sliding door with me and every single time I block her and tell her to use her door. Once I've shut the door on her she will then resort to using the dog door so it's not like she doesn't know how to use it she just tries to get away with not having to.

I ended up buying myself a 500D a few months ago. I haven't taken it off auto yet as I want to get off my butt and do a course so I can learn what all the manual functions actually mean. I've taken it overseas a few times and have got some pictures I'm happy with (for holiday snaps that is), but I'm not very creative unfortunatley. I looked through the 52 weeks for dogs thread yesterday and everyones pictures are amazing. I've never ever used any photo editing software before, other than cropping and red-eye removal so thought I would take some nice but boring photos and try to liven them up a bit by experimenting in Photoscape. I have no idea what any of the features actually mean so as a start began by playing around with the filter feature and just clicking things willy nilly. Here are a couple of pictures of Kira that are not great but it's given me a hint of what I can do with editing software so I'm looking forward to spending a bit more time playing around with it and learning how to use it properly.

What gorgeous photos. Sounds like you had a great time. Your OH sounds a bit like mine. I could sit around for hours hoping to see wildlife but Michael gets bored of that very very quickly.
-
Congratulations to you all. Tess your photos are amazing. Can't wait to see the other entries as well.

How funny. They look like they are having so much fun.

We got one of our dogs from a breeder but she seemed to lose interest in staying in touch. I don't think we would have had enough in common to become friends but I did try to stay in touch via email to give updates every now and then but the communication was pretty one way so I gave up.
