  1. I, too am feeling your loss Greytmate, my Holly was 18 and my constant companion at work and home, but be assured they are waiting at the bridge for us. RIP Bronwyn
  2. Paige The Dolers friends are all waiting for you, a mighty crowd of furries clamouring to welcome her and comfort her till her family is together once more. Im so choked and feeling so powerless to do anything to help anyone. Just tragic for her poor family my heart goes out to them .I will be thinking of them tomorrow so far away but close to my heart.
  3. We can only wish that darling little girl slips away gently if that is what must be and that her family can gain what comfort they can from having her home for the end . We shall continue to pray for the miracle though. ;) ;)
  4. There is nothing more that can be said , our hearts are broken for Page and her family , I cannot begin to imagine the pain they are all suffering. Its frustrating to feel so impotent when we only want to give, yet know we cannot give the only thing that is truly wanted.
  5. HI Scratchcat I only just found this thread and read it with tears in my eyes my own heartdog Holly is now 17yrs old and I daily have to self assess what to do and should I give her the sleep forever. I know I cannot put her through another winter . She was a very active working mate and although she has always slept in my bedroom she prefers to sleep on the floor ( I put a thick pad of blankets on floor and she accepts that)-not even a dog bed for her .I often wait till she's fast asleep to sneak a blanket onto her . I have tried many things and Metacam is a great stop gap in the past, but be warned to administer with food, it can cause some nasty stomach problems. Shark cartilege (powder)from the health food shop got her through a couple of winters very comfortably (mixed in her dinner) However, funnily enough she has the spirit of a lion, and exercise, very slow and not strenuous - we walk for about 15 mins in a flat shady park while our other dogs race around and do their thing, just keeps her bright eyed and eager even tho she looks stiff in the mornings - But then so am I till I get going. Can't stop the ravages of age but you can make her as comfortable as possible . Holly gets a kick out of going in the car so she gets a lot of that when I'm running around tho I do have to lift her in and out to reduce the impact shock. I can tell how much you love her, you are doing as much as you can to help her -good luck with it all.
  6. RIP KIAH I feel deeply for you Kate and family . My face is wet with tears of sorrow. So very hard to say goodbye to your best friend and so much more. I too will be following a similar tragic path in the very near future and am stuggling to come to terms with it now .
  7. I wish our lot would eat it raw but they wont touch it and since they have high quality whole dry food as well We have to cook it each day . I didnt know about the frames , necks and wings tho and will try some next time I'm in Canberra. I might add that our guys are in spectacular condition on the diet they get.
  8. I have tears in my eyes from your touching tribute . We went down the same path only last week with two old family friends , it rained that day inside and out . R.I.P. Blondie
