Congrats Little Tails, Marnie is gorgeous . We have a pup too, her name is Flute and she is a GSP - causing havoc in the house and driving us nuts one minute and laughing the next - dont know which way to turn. Welcome to DOL , I look forward to watching the pair of you grow together over the years.

I think Im sold and I can pop in to Bunning 2 blocks from work and order the cat one and the dog one. We need the flaps though - not sliding glass door variety. One xtra large for the girls in the back door to the dog yard, in the ultraflex I think, and large cat size in the tiny window(now wooden panel because they have broken 4 cat flaps AND the window in 18 months.) down low in the lounge for the cats.

Never heard of them but want to?

Oh i remember her from the pound pix when you saved her. She knew you were her saviour and she deserved the warmth and happiness provided in the end. this to me, is as much what rescue is about as rehoming the young ones. The oldies dont deserve a sad and frightening end and Tris and Tibs you guys go above and beyond - they will indeed be crowds waiting at the gates when your own time comes at the end. RIP Old face

It took me a long long time and then it seems to be by mistake for me to come in . When my Holly went to the bridge i couldnt even post here - Dust Angel did , I still cant even look up the thread to read it. The love they give and the pain we feel when they leave is just unbearable and yet we do. I feel deeply for those who are freshly suffering loss but it does mean you have experienced the sheer joy of the love beforehand.

Thats so sad - RIP Pumba Pig - Hugs to the Funny Farm

Same for any breed and you really do have to live with them to understand. We have never had them before but Dust Angel is addicted now. One of ours is incredibly responsive to training and the other - due to a poor start in life is not so much Lunar will escape at every opportunity and make opportunities when she can - to go hunting ducks and birds. I wouldnt trust either of them with any type of bird. SMF have been at our place (in separate areas 2 fosters) but I wouldnt have left Lunar alone with them but would have trusted Sienna - she a very sociable dog. They live indorrs/outdoors with 6 cats and have never even tried to hurt any of them. They actually share beds on occasion. Sienna is VERY strong willed and has being trying to assert herself over me since we got her. She accepts DA as the leader but we continued to struglle until last weeks revelations.

Um does he bark when inside the house and if so what do you do? Does he like being in the house? We have just had remarkable results this week with one of our dogs in regard to this. Every time she barks we simply do not react or say anything at all just grab her collar and quickly and without fuss - put her out . Every single time. 24 hrs later she was getting the message and now less than a week later she has stopped 95% of the barking. It works on the premise of her NOT getting a reaction - either good or bad from us and after all - thats what they want . the instant you respond in anyway is payment for them. We spent the money and sought professional help for this and a couple of other issues and like you , we have always had dogs , I have always trained them very effectively many to work. Weve always been complimented on how well trained and behaved our dogs are BUT the present two have, like I say, some issues. Rather than let them fester and become unpleasant to live with we chose to get a professional to help us.It is an option I recommend. We are seeing remarkable results very quickly, if your willing to put in the work and commit to a program then its worth it.

She sounds like one mighty little girl - I would have liked to have met her but its so nice to know that such a deserving soul spent her final years in happiness and reviving her faith in the world and in life. She may have taken your heart but indeed you gave it to her and she will care for it till you meet again.

Griff I feel your loss and your pain, my heart dog Holly left at a grand old age - less than 18 months ago now, and I miss her so very much - I cant bear to come here still to these pages, but Dust Angel told me of your loss and now Im crying again. We are so very much richer for having been honoured enough to have shared so many years with them and to have learnt so very much from them.

Why did I just know you'd know the right sort of people Raz This is a horrible way to spend your New year - BC sux. Obviously in the long run you are going to be better off out of there - ever thought of a sea change or a mountain change NOW? I would be fighting and ringing all the people Tris and Raz suggests . Send each of them a personal message on here(PM) for more details , a phone call can really help to put things on the table for you. I wish you the very best of luck and and am happy to hear you will not give up on the furkid.

Wow its fan- bloody- tastic to see Darcy looking so good after his shocking year. -
Dagny started a thread in OT and I think 1/2 of DOL is outside right now getting a few shots in. I'm happy - I got mine and dragged DA out of bed to see it. It really makes you smile.

The end to the story teebs - its a pity noone has ever written a handbook on how to handle all this stuff. I am glad Duke is home , it probably feels right . Maybe your Dad needs a special resting place for him.

It leaves an empty space in your soul when one of your family is no longer here with us. Condolences to you and your Mum , Happy memories.

Photo Challenge 3: 26 Sept - 9 Oct [extended By A Week!]
Snowysal replied to ruthless's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I just played around and I'll put some up (not good like some on here) when I get back from Longclaws place today. I tried all 3 . -
I think your dog looks fit and fine , maybe if you want the coat to look different change brand of food. Our girls are border line with the weight all the time and we have to adjust amounts accordingly. Like people they tend to put on a few pounds if they lie around too much in the bad weather or even in the hot weather, they are also by no means at peak working weight if they ever did work. All the sheepdogs I had I kept at a slightly heavier than normal (the skeletons many farmers had their dogs) and they had a lot of stamina, but too much and it knowcked them around. I suppose I'm saying its a matter of balance for what the dog does and for his own health.

Clipping Costs, I Have No Idea
Snowysal replied to Snowysal's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It all good Bitty Moo Peeb , theyre not matted anymore and theyve had 2 baths just the hair is not premium white and I think they would benefit from starting afresh. Ok I try and avoid ACT on weekends if I can cos I drive from Cooma every day to Belco for work. So excited. I really do appreciate this , have to work something out here. With a decent groom and a few more pounds of weight they could look like mature aged Blossums (in your sig) -
Clipping Costs, I Have No Idea
Snowysal replied to Snowysal's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
OMG is there really an angel of grooming in Canberra , I can't believe it.. Are you terribly terribly busy BittyMooPeeb (I have no idea why I have so much trouble pronouncing your name) Are you interested in transforming two sweet little victims of neglect? There are so skinny and sweet and hopeful (6 yrs old) I really want to find them a perfect forever home. -
Can someone please tell me how much it costs to get a maltese clipped. we have two rescue Malts we saved from Hp as some of you know, and I really think they need clipping, fairly much all over. We have bathed and snipped away but with burrs on the farm and hoping to find them homes I really think all over clipping would be best.We have coats for them. Advice? Never had a dog that required much grooming before - all ours are wash n wear tough outdoorsy types. Some advice on what to expect (cost wise)so I can save towards it, would be greatly appreciated from those in the know. Would be an ACT job I would think - drop off on the way to work and pick up later . Also any great referrals on reputable places would be most appreciated.

Perhaps if you do some baking you could get a coupla good shots off of them pre bake for something different OR maybe even steaming???????????????????????????? Just a suggestion (tummy grumbles checking the clock fro home time) Only in the interestsof the photograpgh of course.
