Been reading this thread and am pretty puzzled so I want to ask some questions. Is yelling at your dog considered to be negative? The very first time Bitty tried to take something off my coffee table I ROARED at her very loudly and she has never touched anything that does not belong to her since. Thinking about it she did look quite scared after being yelled at but now at 11 months I am pretty convinced she is not scared of me as she is a very cheerful little thing! Also my older boy, Bubby has never ever told Bitty off for anything and she is really a menace with him (bouncing, pouncing on ears, jumping all over his body, climbing on him) so I sometimes wonder that if he did tell her off once, whether she would be better behaved around him? -
I feed my dogs a main diet of raw meaty bones and some pureed veggies but besides that they get all the scarps you mentioned mumof3. So far they have suffered no ill effects from their diet. They have been known to get a bit of cake if I am eating it, roast, all sorts of fruit, lick cake icing, some ice cream during summer and this morning they had a small serve of eggs benedict for brunch. I am an advocate of a varied diet.

Yup! Definitely a wooly mal based on your picture Tivins! Except this one was pretty big!
-
Heheeh supermic I must admit I was very awed by how gorgeous she/he was! Plus it was great for my puppy to meet this calm giant dog that was completely chilled and non threatening. What are they like to live with? Active? Are they cuddly or aloof?
-
From what everyone is saying it is probably a Malamute then! It was a glorious dog! So calm and smiley!!!! Sooo smiley!!!!!
-
It looked like the dog in this pic: http://www.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=htt...%26tbs%3Disch:1 It was UBER smiley which made me think it was a lappie!
-
Ohhh I wiki-ed all the spitzs and I think it is an Alaskan Malamute but with a really fluffy coat and it was big! Maybe a larger sized Malamute!
-
No I don’t think it was any of these. I suppose it may have been a cross breed hence the large size but looked purebred to me.
-
I dont think it was PF. It was very fluffy. To be honest it looked like a giant sized lappie. I was so sure it was one until I realised lappies were not huge! Heee I am googling your suggestions now!

I need help identifying a dog breed I saw at the dog park. Its nagging at me that I don’t know what it was! It looks “spitzy” but it was HUGE! Like GSD size, but possibly even a bit bigger. It had a thick fluffy coat and like I said it looked “spitzy” with a lovely smile. I didn’t get a chance to ask the owner what breed his dog was because we were leaving the park and I had just recalled Bitty away from the poor man. Any ideas what breed this dog could be? At first i thought it might be a lappie but after googling lappies it looks way to large to be a lappie.

I feed mine together next to each other. Neither are resource guarders. Bubby will go and hit me up for stuff if he wants it and Bitty is just too cheerful to get squiffy with anyone about anything!

Heheeh My OH had different levels of classification for Bitty when she was a pup. She was either: Not for sale – This is when she was being reasonably good For Sale – when she was hyper and a bit of a pain On Discount – when she keeps bouncing and just will not stop Bargain Bin – When she was muddy and dirty and was bouncing like a maniac Free to GOOD home - When she was wreaking absolute havoc on us and just would jump on everyone and everything and had this manic glint in her eyes Free to ANY home – When she had just committed what he deemed to be an actual “crime”! But she’s never for sale anymore these days! She’s on his “Priceless” list now!

I don't think there can be a "nicer" photo of your puppy Magnet! She is just PERFECT looking to me!!!!! I cannot resist a gorgeous face like that!!!!!!
-
OMG Magnet she is ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO SO SO CUTE!!! I do love her face! Would you be able to send me the kennel name of her breeder?

Dont feel bad Fran. I spent two years of my life seeking affection from Bubby until I realised that he LOVES his Momma best but he's just not a cuddly dog. He always picks up on how I feel and is always there when I have a hangover or when I am sick, cross or grumpy but he's just happy to sit by himself and chill when I am in good spirits. He's never been one to cuddle and I really feel that he enjoys his 10 hours away from us. Bitty on the other hand loves everyone and everything but in some ways it makes it less special since she will kiss and cuddle me but would also cuddle up to the bloke down the road 10 mins later! She is such a floozy!

I miss Bitty's puppyhood very much and I feel that it went by too fast. I was too focused on training her and curbing any bad habits, I feel like maybe I missed out on enjoying the puppyness of it all. For fear of bad behavior and destruction I had her on this crazy routine where every single day everything was planned out for her from training sessions, play breaks with her brother to alone time so that she would be well adjusted. It was a crazy 6 months! OH and I often say to each other "We lost 6 months of our lives training Bitty!" But then one day she was just all trustworthy and calm and could be left alone unsupervised. I was pretty chuffed but also really sad because my crazy fluffball was all grown up. I miss taking a bundle of fur out at night to toilet and then kissing the fluffball before putting her back to bed. I miss bouncing this chubby puppy on my lap and I even miss all the times she went mental and practically gave me a breakdown because she just would not sit still naturally! I have to give a shout out to my Bubby though for helping me raise Bitty! There were times when I would have a meltdown, I'd cling onto Bubby and say "Mummy just can't handle her right now Bubs" and Bubby would take one for the team by entertaining her.

Pup Returning After 1st Night! Unbelievable.

Speaking of breakdowns I remember being at my wits end, ringing up a friend and shouting “She won’t stay still naturally! She never wants to stay still! I can’t keep her on this friggen mat with a stay command forever!” -

Spoilt lab I have two dogs. Bubby and Bitty. Long before Bitty came along, more than 2 yrs ago was when I returned the pup I mentioned in my earlier post and only had Bubby for a while until July last year when Bitty joined our family. -

Thanks Dee. I still feel “funny” about the whole thing even now. I do agree timing is everything though. The night Bitty came home I made strawberry muffins and cookies while staying up to toilet her every 2 hours. A far cry from how I handled the situation 2 yrs ago. -
Oh dear! So sorry I called Sally an Aussie!!!!! Hehehe you should see their identical “angry faces” when they feel they have been mistreated! So hilarious! I would love another dog but am too scared of messing up the dynamics between Bitty and Bubby.

Sometimes things just go pear shaped even with the best of intentions. About two years ago I returned a pup after two days. OH and I just had a meltdown of sorts, freaked out and showed up on my breeders doorstep in tears. We had/have the best breeder in the world and admit freely that this debacle was all our doing . We are incredibly lucky that she is a wonderful and forgiving person who sold us another pup two years later. In hindsight I can see everything that I did/thought wrong but reality was I was not going to be a good mummy to the pup at that time. I would never have been the mummy I am to Bitty and pup would never have had the upbringing Bitty had so it was just the right thing to do for us at the time. I am ashamed of it and wished we had handled it better but then I would not have my precious Bitty. -

hehehe I NEVER dance and am mortified at the thought of dancing but I figure everyone would be staring at the pretty blond and ignoring me! -
