  1. Yup, that's the easiest way! Jibs was black (with a little red) Taz is blue Charlotte is pink.... but Miss Indy is also pink LOL
  2. aww that middle photo breaks my heart LOL
  3. I can't really say temperature wise, but generally in summer walk them after humans have their dinners so probably around 7:30-8pm... it's a weekend we will take them to the river in the morning instead for a swim. I remember when I was in Pisa (*travel wanker alert*) a family had a young Labx pup that was yelping and I thought they had stepped on it's feet, but when I looked again I realised it's feet were burning because the road was so hot. Swooped in and picked him up and tried to explain... poor little thing, thankfully he was still small enough to carry.
  4. I pity people who don't have the relationship I had with my dog - and I'd tell them to their face when they would start to say 'He's just a d-'. I did turn down some big work opportunities last year when my boy was very sick, just like how I turned down overseas work when I first got him  - I don't regret those choices for a second I am proud of putting his needs before my own. People who really know me and that I love and respect understand me and my choice so that's all that matters to me. Some people want different things out of their pets, travel experiences, work... life in general - do what makes you happy and you don't have to be held accountable to others for your decisions, same as they don't have to be held to your (our) high standard of pet dedication ;-)
  5. spot on! I wave my hands in front of each other and say 'gone' and he walks off... true love.
  6. Yeah I think necks or even a drumstick would be good
  7. ...hopefully if someone inspects and enforces
  8. I was in a similar situation a few years ago and even with getting the human version of the medication (which wasn't much cheaper) there was no way to claim it back. Also I doubt pet insurance would have covered it either from what I've read here. Thankfully my boy was only on it for four months and it did the job
  9. I saw at my aldi some knock off furminators, shame I don't have a shedding dog anymore
  10. Well my boy was perfect, but I imagine other GSD owners would not like the shedding ;-)
  11. Here's to a speedy recovery and a few more years with him, Ricey :)
  12. Thanks Wobbly - that is reassuring, I didn't want the humans to make anything worse.
  13. (I'll pop this here, but it might be more appropriate in training..) Atm we have a 13 yr old female Dachie x (until the end of the year when her family returns from a posting) and a 8 year old male Maltese x. They get on really well and wrestle, play tug and hump each other without any drama. We have a rescue dog on trial atm - 4yr old female Shih Tzu x and it seems she wants to be top dog (after the humans), she's only been here two nights and I'm feeding her last and paying attention to her last. In the dog dynamics she seems to be calling the shots - should we let her be top dog or try and keep our 'age' order? My husband thinks that the Maltese is a little worried and put out - he is usually bossy to any guest dogs that we have and likes to keep dogs away from his special toys but he has let the new girl play with all his toys. There hasn't been any fighting, but there hasn't been much playing together as the new girl makes a snotty growl noise when she plays (we saw this in her foster home too, but the other dogs knew what was going on) and it's confusing our two so they just walk away from her. They are happy to sit in close proximity (such as in the car) and will chase after toys together (new girl mostly wins) and eat treats together so maybe this isn't too big a deal.

  15. I'm planning an MPA but a masters in grooming sounds like more fun. I didn't think that was available in Australia but I'll have a Google. ..
  16. LOL You can have all my cockers, I hate grooming them, especially black ones. I started back grooming at a shop a few weeks ago after about 3 years off (only grooming my husband's and friends dogs) and the first dog waiting outside the salon was a black cocker What are the formal quals for groomers anyway? I learned at a few salons 10 years ago(!) now, it's not something I want to pursue, just a bit of extra pocket money atm, but I would point our young bathers that way if they were keen.
  17. heh my old boy was on this as well for a little while and I thought about it for my Dad, but he did have a different problem anyway I remember it was only in use in Japan and just confirmed on Wikipedia this is still the case https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pimobendan you could always ask your Dr about trials...
  18. Our 8yr old Malt x and guest dogs: "Cavoodle" - 3yrs Labrador - 9 years Silky x Dachshund - 13 years all seem to be able to last through the night (10:30-6am ish) My GSD was able to hold it as well until he went on medication that made him drink a lot and he (and I!) was up every 3-4 hours. Can you put him in a laundry with a dog door and then have the laundry door deadbolted for your own safety?
  19. hahaha, I hope the next time I pick up a wandering dog they have one of these tags
  20. hmm maybe if you keep making the honk when she's mouthing and then treat her she will associate the honk with a treat and try to make it honk herself my dog would have ripped the squeeze off the horn at this point LOL
  21. tsk tsk! I bought my rake and slicker from Big W and they've held up for 10 years at least! I did buy my nail clippers from a show trailer and they've gone strong for 12 years... I also have les pooch that are probably around 9/10 years old. A good scrub with a rubber brush/zoom groom and a blow dryer will also help - does your car wash have a dog wash section?
  22. jesus those are amazing!
